We absolutely loved our stay! We had so much fun, running round, swimming, playing on the jungle gym and exploring the property. The owners were very kind and approachable, we will be campkng at this site again!
Foresty heaven outside htx
We really enjoyed camping here. It was very secluded yet comfortable. Courtney, our host was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the land. The forest is absolutely gorgeous and we loved having so much space to set up our campsite! The best part of the trip was taking a hike to go hang out with the goats, ponies, and bunnies. If it has rained in the area recently you may want to bring mud boots as some of the trails do collect water. So far this is my favorite place to camp near Houston and we are already planning another trip back!
A fun weekend getaway
We had an absolutely lovely time camping here this cool weekend in early March. The landscape behind the house and animal pens is a sprawling wooded area with lots of trails and many great spots to set up at, including multiple fire pits conveniently set up and ready for use.
Despite the fact that the ground was muddy from recent rain, our hosts kept us informed and actively coordinated with us to make sure we arrived with everything that we needed. For me having mud boots was invaluable and helped me traverse the property with ease.
We had a great time enjoying the beautiful outdoors and hanging out with the farm animals! It's a lovely little spot and we plan to come camp out there again!
The campsite is tucked in the treeline behind the hosts' house. There's a fun (and super challenging) low ropes course, complete with a slackline!
This camp would be the perfect summer hang out for a group of friends. There are so many little trails to explore through the trees, a gorgeous swimming hole with a rope swing, kayaks, and, of course, the ropes course. The hosts have built a little fire ring into the camping area, and there's plenty of kindling to start your fire.
Make sure to wake up early enough to see the sunrise in the morning--watching the golden light filter through the trees as I made my coffee was really spectacular.
If you are wanting to drive back to the site, I would recommend having four wheel drive. My Subaru made it through thick mud with no problem, but I wouldn't have been comfortable driving it with a smaller car. There is a gravel parking area at the front of the host's house that you could park at and walk from, but driving back there is the most convenient!
Overall we had a great time camping for the evening. Lots of tree coverage with several paths to walk on. It was very quiet and we were not disturbed. They had a few dogs and they were friendly and didn’t intrude. The only complaint my wife had was the bucket toilet but I can’t complain as it is part of camping.
