Shake off the big-city dust and revel in the simple pleasures of a lazy Texas afternoon by camping near College Station. The area offers lush patchwork farmland bisected by forested areas, ponds and lakes. If you want to explore nature, head for one of the campgrounds at the southern side of the city. Drive to Lick Creek Park in a few minutes to wander along the stream or hike a multitude of trails that take you from scrubland to forest and back again. After hiking, if you happen to have a yen for doing as the Texans do and go horseback riding, this park just happens to be neighbors with a stable. A good camping experience isn't always about being surrounded entirely by nature. A few campgrounds are available within the city limits, which is very useful if you want to catch a game at Texas A&M University.

A daily joy, watching the sun come up. Trees on the East side of the farm make it so pretty.
In the spring, watching lambs sproink is fun. These are registered Gulf Coast Sheep which are on the endangered list.
Watching lamb races, usually about an hour before sunset are a fun way to end the day.
Of course they need to stop for a snack.
And they like to pose for pictures.

The 51-square mile city contains nearly 1,400 acres of parks.

Why can't I book these on Hipcamp?

The timber is along the side of the 6 acres. This view is looking towards the (gravel) road.
All of the timber looks just like this. This however, happens to be the spot where we are building a cabin for our guests :-)
You can see the front of the timber from our house. There is two open meadows in the front area.
Some cool mushrooms in our timber!
Some of the oak trees on our property are 100's of years old!
