Eden Ranch

45mi from Huntsville State Park · 8 sites · Tents, RVs · Livingston, TX
Eden Ranch is first and foremost a Christian owned, family friendly naturist/nudist property and clothing is optional everywhere on the property...swimsuits / shame suits are prohibited in the hot tub. Located on 21 private and secluded acres, we have room for both tent campers and RVers with a full bathhouse that includes a hot tub, outdoor shower, sink area and toilet facilities. There are horses, cows, potbelly pigs, rabbits, chickens, dogs and cats if your family loves animals. There is also an above ground pool for when the weather is warmer. Pitch a tent, sit by the campfire, take a hike in the woods, relax in the hammock, read a book, soak in the hot tub or do nothing at all...the choice is up to you. Nearby are antique shops, fishing on Lake Livingston or the Trinity River, hike or bike ride the Sam Houston National Forest trails or play pool or go bowling in town. Naskila Casino is only 8 miles to the east of us on the Alabama Coushata Indian Tribe Reservation. If you're looking for nothing to do but relax or if you're looking for lots of fun and activity we've got easy access to both. What makes Eden Ranch unique is that all of our activities here on the ranch are clothing optional / naturist friendly. In fact, the hot tub and pool are nude only...no swimsuits allowed. On the warmer days most of the host family will be enjoying the property as God intended...naked and not ashamed as well. If nudity offends you, this is not the place to visit. We will not allow or condone any inappropriate or illegal activity anywhere on the ranch. Any violation of this policy will result in immediate escort off the property.

We have a 5 acre homestead/hobby farm that is nestled in the Sam Houston National Forest. We are off the beaten path with beautiful views, peace and quiet and farm animals! We have goats, donkeys, rabbits, a miniature cow, a miniature horse, a pony, ducks, geese, turkeys, peacocks and chickens roaming our property. We just had a new addition Colt who was born on our property March 12th 2023. He is our precious little donkey. We are a semi primitive camping spot. Come and enjoy getting away from the city without going too far. Enjoy the beautiful star filled sky. Feed the animals at 9am and love on them all day. Have your professional pictures taken with some of the animals(additional charge). Buy some farm fresh eggs. We have t-shirts and other merchandise for purchase. We have two above ground pools in our backyard for your enjoyment. We just put in a deck for catch and release fishing. We have a hot tub for your relaxation from fall to spring. Cleveland is just miles from Conroe. Conroe is a city in and the county seat of Montgomery County, Texas, United States, about 40 miles north of Houston. Conroe is the perfect blend of starry nights and city lights. And being the fastest-growing city in Texas, Conroe has so much to offer. Conroe is bordered by 22,000-acre Lake Conroe, Sam Houston National Forest, and W. Goodrich Jones State Forest, making for a veritable utopia for the outdoor lover in us all. Aside from the outdoors, Conroe has a bustling downtown with breweries, theatres and plenty of shopping. There is also plenty of live music, which has earned Conroe the designation of Music Friendly Community by the state of Texas. Whether you are looking for an adventure or a little rest and relaxation, you will find it in Conroe. https://www.visitconroe.com/

The Rock Pit

100%
(15)
37mi from Huntsville State Park · 10 sites · Tents, RVs · Groveton, TX
Learn more about this land: The Rock Pit is a 5 acre swimming hole located in Trinity County that has been there over 50 years. Long ago they had dug out an area on a hill for rock on the dirt roads, and hit and underground water table. There are no fish in the Rock Pit, as the pH is 4.5, so no fish will live in it. I recall swimming there as a small boy, and wanted to share my memories with others. Depth ranges all over, but the deep end is around 15 feet. I have 5 kayaks currently, but bring yours if you have them, along with your vests. There is fishing in Lake Livingston, my place is north of it. There is access to Lake Livingston via White Rock Creek. A public boat ramp in on Highway 94, just outside Trinity. Or you can go back towards Trinity, to highway 357 and go to a ramp closer to the big lake. Tall pine tress, a few Oaks, and maple trees surround the place. Bring your mosquito repellant, as you are in the country! The place is raw right now, but I am planning improvements such as a few A frame cabins, a showering area and so on. So many things to do! 6 Acres for the Mind, Body, & Soul

100%
(3)
35mi from Huntsville State Park · 1 site · Tent, RV · Waller, TX
Quiet natural location away from the busy city. Located on a private access uneven dirt road so a 4x4 or all wheel drive vehicle is recommended. There is a firepit but please burn inside the cinder blocks area and keep it under control (not too big). Do not burn when it is windy. There is plenty of firewood to use for the fire pit. Please make sure to completely put fire out when done. There are 6 acres and you are welcome to camp anywhere you like, in the open areas or in the woody areas in the back. We have a RV barn area that can be used for shade, sitting, eating, relaxing, etc. You can use the tables and chairs. There is also a white water container on the table that you can use for washing. There is a 32 gallon trash bucket that you can put trash in but make sure lid is closed when you're done to keep animals out. This site does have limited solar electric power in RV area. To turn on, flip the switch on the surge strip on the wall behind the microwave. There is no running water so please plan accordingly. There is currently not a toilet available but I'm planning on building a composting toilet soon. For now, use the natural way and make sure to bury. For security, there is one camera on the property located near the front entrance and it is mainly for monitoring the front entrance area. There is also another camera near the north side of RV barn for security of storage room and RV. This site can also be used for long term parking/storing your RV or vehicle but we are not liable for anything that happens. If interested, please contact me or use the app called "Neighbor". The RV barn currently already has a RV inside it so that parking space can't be used. Our long-term plan is to also make the RV available but we would need to install an in ground septic system and electricity first.

The best camping in Huntsville State Park, TX guide

Overview

About

Whether you prefer forest hikes or fishing on the lake—Huntsville State Park has you covered. On the southern rim of Sam Houston National Forest, there are over 2,000 acres to explore, including more than 20 miles of woodland trails, where you can hike, bike, or bird-watch. Set sail across Lake Raven in a canoe, kayak, or paddleboat; cool off with a swim at the designated swim area; or fish for crappie, catfish, and bass. Campers will find plenty of space at the three campgrounds, all by the lake, plus screened shelters and cabins.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for RVs: Raven Hill Camping Area has 23 mostly paved sites with full hookups.
  • Best for lake-view tent camping: Coloneh Camping Area has 60 water-only sites, many of which look out over the lake.
  • Best for water-loving campers: Prairie Branch Campground has 77 sites for RVs, vans, and tents, all close to the swimming beach, boat ramp, and fishing pier.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. You can reserve sites at any of the park’s campgrounds in advance via the Texas State Parks website.
  2. Campsite reservations open five months in advance.
  3. Campsites can book up on summer and holiday weekends—book as early as possible, especially if you have a larger RV or a particular site in mind (such as those by the lakeside).

When to go

Huntsville State Park is open year-round, but the most popular time to visit is from mid-February through Thanksgiving. Visit in spring migration for the best birding opportunities, in autumn to admire the fall foliage, or in summer to swim and paddle on the lake. The park is busiest on weekends, so plan a weekday visit if you’d like to dodge the crowds.

Know before you go

  • Huntsville State Park is located 70 miles north of Houston or about a 75-minute drive away.
  • Park entrance fees are required in addition to camping fees, and general entrance reservations can be made up to one month in advance.
  • Facilities include restrooms, picnic areas and group shelters, playgrounds, a boat ramp, fishing piers, and fish washing stations. A store sells camping and fishing supplies, drinks, and ice cream. You can also purchase groceries and camping supplies in Huntsville, a 20-minute drive away.
  • Alligators are common in the park—swim only in designated areas and never swim after sunset.
  • There are wheelchair-accessible bank fishing areas, restrooms, and campsites in the park. The Prairie Branch Camping Area (including the fishing pier and boat), park store, and boat rental area are also accessible.
