Come stay in our cabin at the estuary on Turners Bay where wildlife is abundant and easy to see. The Bamboo cabin is very private and has everything you need to just hang out. Saltgrass's location allows for many fun outdoor activities such as hiking at Anacortes Washington Park or Kukutali Preserve State Park crabbing, fishing, birding, bicycling and, the beach, my kids actually found a bottle with a message inside years ago.
Alternatively, you could explore the many little shops in the towns of La Conner and Anacortes. There are multiple activities available, I would suggest calling ahead in order to book kayaking, rock climbing, whale watching, or a sailing charter. You could easily take a day trip to the San Juan Islands by taking a ferry ride out of Anacortes, walk on or book ahead if you are taking your car. Also, the Swinomish Casino and golf course are within two miles.
While you're here you may meet our pup Turner, we also have two cats and several chickens. On the property are your hosts Jeri and Nancy, as well as our handyman Sean, Saltgrass boasts beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and yes, the Bay. We try to live harmoniously with the land. We would love to share our space with you! . We thank you all for visiting our place and hope we meet your expectations.

Bayview Alpacas is located on 10 privately-gated acres across the street from Padilla Bay, a National Estuarine Research Reserve. The Reserve protects one of the largest beds of eelgrass in the contiguous United States - nearly 8,000 acres.
Habitats found here support herring, smelt, salmon, flatfish, Dungeness crab, ducks, eagles, shorebirds, and peregrine falcons. Mammals found in Padilla bay include harbor seals and river otters. Located in the northern reaches of greater Puget Sound, at the saltwater edge of the large delta of the Skagit River in the Salish Sea, the reserve is eight miles long and three miles across.
The Padilla Bay Reserve is one of 29 areas in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. The 11,966 acres-site is protected for long-term research, water quality monitoring, education, and coastal stewardship.

Almost 20 years ago, Shelley and Casey moved back to the beautiful Skagit Valley farm Shelley grew up on. Her family has farmed in the valley for five generations. New Van Camping Site in 2023: We have a new gravel pad van site next to an 18 acre farm field with a wonderful sunset view. We do not allow fires at the site. But it is available at the Shell station less than 5 minutes from our farm.
Tent Site: Pitch your tent in a private corner of our little organic farm in the beautiful Skagit Valley. You will be surrounded by gorgeous edible landscaping and a stunning view of Mount Baker. This land has passed through many families but was first "managed" by Salish Indians who burned the prairie and harvested native plants for food, medicine, clothing, charms and more for 10,000 years. When European settlers arrived in the 1850s, burning the prairie all but ceased and that, along with the introduction of many new exotic species of animals, crop plants and weeds, began the degradation of the landscape. Over time our site was used to graze sheep and then raise pheasants (from 1944-1999). It was slated for housing development but several citizens rose up and prevented that from happening. Now the Pacific Rim Institute, a private nonprofit organization is the steward of this precious jewel of central Whidbey and the Pacific Northwest. We have a five-acre remnant prairie with over 80 species of native plants - critical to the restoration of degraded lands throughout the Salish Sea region.
We have over two miles of walking trails for you. They traverse our prairie, savannas and forests. The land is full of color when the native wildflowers bloom from early spring through early autumn. We have a Native Plant Center where we grow up to 50 species of rare native plants. Ask us for a tour.

Watch the sunset into the world famous San Juan Islands. Our property is
located on the scenic Chuckanut Drive. It is a 15 minute walk to Taylor United's Seafood Bar that has beer and wine. You will need boots just below the knee, or hiking shoes that will get wet. The Creek crossing is a little deeper this year. You will also be crossing a muddy area for about 20 yards, you will sink about 3 inches into the mud. The hike into the campsite takes 12 minutes. You need to contact me to check the tides, as to be able to get to the campsite. We need to hike in below a 5 foot tide. Starting October, the campsite closes for winter. Again , this campsite is Tide dependent. The first question to me should be, What is the latest we can hike in? I am not Moses, I can’t part the sea. Camp closed during winter October/ march

This was such a great find. Our 2 dogs had the time of their life and we got to relax, enjoy the property and explore Bow - Edison. Beth and Matt were so friendly and accommodating. Having flush toilets was a plus and we even braved a cold shower. Close to I5 and easy to get to gorgeous scenic country drives and charming towns.

Excellent set up. String lights for evening/night above tent site! Nice privacy tucked away a bit in the forest. Friendly and understanding camp manager led us to our spoot when we arrived a bit late. Loved the potable water and one of a kind outhouse. We would certainly return!

Lovely spot with open skies! Quiet and private. Good amenities if you need them. We went for a drive around the local farms and ended up at a brewery/distillery such a beautiful countryside.
Will definitely come back and bring our bikes!

Hobson Meadows is one of those places that feels special because it isn’t trying to be anything other than what it already is.
We were greeted by Millie, their calm, wise pup. I loved watching her guide families to their spaces, then wander back later as if checking that everyone had settled in. Then we met Beth, Matt, and Piper.
Beth quickly became one of my favorite parts of the weekend. We clicked immediately and kept finding ourselves lost in meaningful conversations. She is a beautiful soul, and you can feel the love she and Matt have for people, nature, and this land. They genuinely check in on guests while still giving everyone space to simply be.
The yurts are beautifully set up with comfortable beds and mattresses. I slept through the night both nights — very unusual for me! There’s no electricity, but lanterns are provided. Days can be warm and nights cool, so pack accordingly. The grounds have two portable restrooms plus a restroom/shower combo.
The stocked pond is perfect for catch-and-release fishing or simply sitting beside the water. One evening we watched birds return to a huge old tree, and Matt shared that he remembers them doing the same when he was a child.
Hobson Meadows isn’t fancy or commercial. It simply feels like a family sharing a beautiful little piece of their heaven with the rest of us.

This place is magical - the photos don't do it justice. Well-maintained trails and campsites, infinite entertainment with the treehouse, zip line, and pond, and access to garden produce. The vases of freshly cut flowers were an added lovely touch. Having the county park a short walk away makes it easy to enjoy the bay. Ian was a friendly, communicative and helpful host. Highly recommend!

A super fun and welcoming working farm. Bungalow was perfectly comfortable and cozy. Amazing views and relaxing atmosphere. Good accomodations and setting for couples or families. Really happy with our experience. Cows, goats, sheep, pigs, and cats are all friendly and fun to visit with.

When to go
The best time to visit Skagit Island Marine State Park is during the summer months, from 6:30am to dusk, when the weather is warm and the days are long. Winter visits, from 8am to dusk, offer a different kind of quiet beauty, though some activities may be limited due to shorter days and cooler temperatures.
Know before you go
- Check burn bans and fire regulations before lighting any fires; only designated pits and grills are allowed.
- Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times.
- Remember to pack out all trash as there is no garbage service on the island.
- There is no potable water available, so bring enough for your stay.
- Overnight vehicle fees are applicable and must be paid at the Cornet Bay watercraft launch.
