Bayview Alpacas is located on 10 privately-gated acres across the street from Padilla Bay, a National Estuarine Research Reserve. The Reserve protects one of the largest beds of eelgrass in the contiguous United States - nearly 8,000 acres. Habitats found here support herring, smelt, salmon, flatfish, Dungeness crab, ducks, eagles, shorebirds, and peregrine falcons. Mammals found in Padilla bay include harbor seals and river otters. Located in the northern reaches of greater Puget Sound, at the saltwater edge of the large delta of the Skagit River in the Salish Sea, the reserve is eight miles long and three miles across. The Padilla Bay Reserve is one of 29 areas in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. The 11,966 acres-site is protected for long-term research, water quality monitoring, education, and coastal stewardship.☀️🦙🐐🐓🏕 We are nestled between the Padilla Bay Interpretive Center and the lovely town of Edison. Across the road from the unforgettable Padilla Bay, sit back and enjoy views of the bay, our free-ranging alpacas, goats, and chickens while watching for eagles nesting nearby. We offer full hookups, an outdoor kitchen area and a fire pit for our guests. You will find our site unique as it is privately-gated and we are only allowing for one camp guest at a time. As our guest, you can rest assured that your privacy and safety are important to us. *For a full description of each space at Bayview Alpacas, please read through to the bottom of this page. Site Summary: Our RV-only campsite can accommodate: a maximum of 5 people for a standard reservation (up to 3 adults), a maximum of 9 people with the rental of both hookups which can include up to 4 adults plus children (to equal 9), and a maximum of 2 vehicles. All RV’s must be self-contained. No Restroom - No Shower - No Sink. There are endless things to do in our area…exploring the lovely Skagit Valley has so many possibilities! Venture to Edison to enjoy some local restaurant favorites and sample some homemade cheese, artisan bread and organic blueberries after taking a stroll through Smith and Vallee Gallery. Walk or bike the Padilla Bay Trail just minutes from our home and then explore the beach at Bayview State Park. The Padilla Bay Interpretive Center is a must see when visiting. Anacortes, LaConner, and Camping World are also a short drive away. Stay with us April 1- 30 and visit the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival (a spring favorite that should not be missed!), only 10 minutes from your site. Bald eagle-watching season, a month-long celebration in January, brings many visitors looking to catch a glimpse or a photograph of these majestic residents. Exploring the islands makes for a fun day-trip with the Anacortes Ferry Terminal just 30 minutes from your campsite. For guests seeking to explore via car or by foot, detailed ferry information will be sent in your “Upcoming Stay” message along with a few interesting places to visit. If hiking and mountain biking are on your list, there are many places close by to explore. Over 60 miles of trails can be found at Galbraith Mountain near Bellingham to get you started. For those who are up for some seasonal skiing or snowboarding, rise early and enjoy Mount Baker or Stevens Pass, both just a 1.5 to 2-hour drive. As you will be the only one here camping, you may safely leave your gear at the site on our privately-gated property. Traveling with family or friends and in need of an extra RV hookup? We have one additional set of hookups that can be added to your reservation. Please inquire if you are interested in this option. If you cancel within 1 week before check in, there will be no refund. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The Details… Campsite: This site is mostly flat (leveling required) and consists of a crushed rock pad surrounded by lots of room to drive in, back in, turn around, and bring your toys. It allows for electrical, public water, and sewage hookups. There is also grass in/near the site. Your RV door will face northwest featuring views of the bay, the islands, and our alpacas. Our residence is further up the drive providing you with additional privacy. You will have a large campsite area and an expansive west-facing field to spread out. The outside kitchen area is yours to use as well. Fire pit: Centrally located and just in front of the outside kitchen. There is a picnic table, a removable grill for cooking, some firewood for your use (more available for purchase if needed) and 3 chairs. Outside Kitchen: Featuring a small refrigerator; stainless steel table for cooking/serving; 1 table for dining (also makes a great desk); a patio heater; a water hydrant. NO sink and please bring your own utensils and cookware. Extra Hookups: Is only offered as an add-on for our guests and allows for extra electrical, public water, and sewage hookups. This area is mostly flat (leveling required) and consists of grass and cedar chips. Depending on how you would like to park and the size of your RV, using these hookups may partially block your view from the outside kitchen. It is still worth it though, in our opinion, to be able to travel with your family and friends! :-)

Pull-through site

You can pull through, back in or pull in, depending on which direction you would prefer to face. There is plenty of parking just off the driveway behind your RV. The campsite is located approximately 330 feet up from the road. Please do not travel up the driveway beyond the designated campsite. There is a residence above and we ask that you respect the caretakers privacy. Please be aware that there are other people on-property that you may see or hear. Your privacy will be respected and we kindly ask that you do the same.

Firewood provided, firepit. We have a great fire pit with a removable grill. We will provide firewood, which may be enough for your stay. If you run low and would like to purchase more, please send us a message. We only ask that you use the pit responsibly as we are surrounded by many trees and please only burn firewood (no garbage or paper). Fireworks are strictly prohibited.

Pets allowed

On leash. We welcome your furry family members but ask the following: *Do not allow your animals to run loose all over our property. We have chickens, alpacas, and other farm animals to protect as well as neighbors and their animals. *There is an eagles nest nearby as well as barred owls and other raptors. If you have a small pet, please be cautious with their care. We would hate for you to lose your furry family member! *Please do not allow your dogs to bark. *Please bring your animals inside at night. *Please kindly clean up all animal waste from your pets. We charge an additional cleaning fee of $25 for any animal waste left by our guests. For bagged waste, please feel free to use the trash bin that we provide. *Any issues that arise from furry family members may result in being asked to leave. We love animals too - just please respect our house rules. :-)

NO sink and please bring your own utensils and cookware.

We had such a great and relaxing time here. The site is wonderful and had full hookups. The animals are awesome to watch and interact with. The area is so quiet and peaceful. We had a great campfire going that the host made for us. We ended up having the whole area to ourselves, which was extra amazing. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been trying to book Alyssa’s Hipcamp for the past 2 years—our dates just never lined up, but wow, was it worth the wait! The site is spacious, well-equipped, and the view… absolutely breathtaking. The outdoor kitchen was a huge bonus, and getting to meet all the adorable farm animals was pure joy. The campsite itself was fantastic, but the real highlight? The hosts. Alyssa and Chris are truly wonderful—warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about making your stay special. We can’t wait to come back! If you see this site available, don’t hesitate—book it!

My young son and I had the most wonderful time here! Alyssa and family were so kind and generous, spending quite a while introducing us to all their fun farm animals! The property itself is clean, calm, and beautiful. The outdoor kitchen and fire pit area exceeded my expectations. Convenient to Bow/Edison, Padilla Bay and many many many other fun family activities. Will absolutely stay here again.

Such a great spot to visit for so many reasons. Visited with our 5 yr old daughter and all enjoyed the farm amenities. Hosts were awesome and welcoming to explore the farm that has lots to offer. Great westward facing yard for evening sound side sunsets by the fire.

Large, lovely, private campsite with well-kept amenities! The shelter with heater & kitchen was a huge bonus for the rain that we experienced. All this plus wildlife fun!

Hands down, best place we've stayed! Five alpacas, six goats and two humans greeted us on arrival - all super friendly. We had five acres to stretch out and play and views of the bay out our front door. The outdoor kitchen was just immaculate. Alyssa and her husband even had a fire started for us when we arrived. It was expensive but sooo worth it. We will definitely be back. They have companion sites available, but only if you rent the main space. Perfect for multifamily camping.

Amazing!

We loved our three night stay at Bayview Alpacas. Our hosts (Alyssa and Chris) were so gracious and the property is beautiful, serene and private. Waking up to friendly Alpacas, goats and chickens was certainly a highlight! The location, in our opinion, is pretty much perfect with LaConner, Anacortes, Edison and Mt. Vernon are all within a few minutes drive. Looking forward to our next visit!

The Best Hipcamp

Bay View Alpacas Hip Camp was a highlight of our WA state tour. The full service site was beautiful and relaxing. Chris and Alyssa built a lovely sheltered outdoor kitchen and seating area with nice lighting and outlets. We enjoyed sitting by the fire and watching the sunsets. Our hosts were there to make sure everything was perfect and were also respectful of our privacy. Meeting them was a joy and we value the love and care they have for their family, animals and property. When in the area, this is where we will be headed!

Everything was fantastic. The property is excellent t and incredibly well-appointed: Full hookups with 30amp. fire pit with wood and starter. Covered shelter with heat lamp, seating and grill. Strong Wi-Fi. And some friendly alpacas. Have stayed twice and our hosts have been as gracious as they are just genuinely friendly. Love the place.

Perfect camping spot!

We loved everything about our two night stay!! The hosts put so much care into creating this space. The amenities—hookups, outdoor kitchen, furniture, fire pit, Wi-Fi, landscaping, etc—we’re all top notch. It was super easy to park and level our large travel trailer. The huge lawn stretches out to a gorgeous view of the water. The sunsets were especially magical. The hosts were exceptional—responsive and thorough communications, friendly and an all around joy to talk to. This was our first Hipcamp experience; we found out how amazing it is to be in a private location with no other campers around. So peaceful! Last but certainly not least, the alpaca girls were an absolute highlight of our road trip. They were so stinking cute!!! Highly recommend!

The land and views are beautiful! Alyssa and Chris were very welcoming. The first day they welcomed us but gave us time to settle in. The second day, we wanted to pet the Alpacas so they came down from their house (which could barely be seen through the trees) and told us all about the Alpacas and other stories while we pet them! There’s also a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen!

So incredible. If you love nature, not being in a crowded campground, beautiful setting…. This is your place! Eagles, alpacas, deer… All close by as well as an amazing view. Wonderful kitchen. GREAT internet (not like at an Rv park where they say they have internet and you barely can check your email). If you have the chance… stay at this amazing place :)

We absolutely loved our stay at Bayview Alpacas. Alyssa and Chris both greeted us upon arrival and were both very welcoming and sweet. Very communicative throughout our stay. My 11 month old daughter loved watching the alpacas every day and was happy to be able to pet them as well :) Hanging out in the outdoor kitchen was great. We enjoyed our morning coffee with the beautiful view of the bay and all the birds chirping in the background. We highly recommend staying here and we hope to be back again soon.

The site is amazing! Great views, huge private space, awesome kitchen amenities (Games and binoculars included), an amazing fire pit with a grill over it, wildlife all around, close to LaConner for a nice dinner if you don't feel like cooking. It's an amazing oasis. Alyssa and Chris are super nice and super respectful of your space. We're definitely going back.
