This is a gorgeous park-like RV campground situated between the trees of the arboretum. NO TENTS, please. Also we have NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS. Beautiful view of the mountains and forests here in western Washington. We are close to Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier and several lakes. There are walking trails all around the site. The 12 acre campground is located on a 136 acre property that is an active Christmas tree farm. Trails continue throughout the tree farm. Many trails have a view of the Tilton River, which can be reached via a challenging 3/4 mile trail. Sites are on 12 acres planted with many different species of trees that are about 30 years old. Giant Redwoods, Cedars, and Maples are just a few of the varieties present. Part of the farm is still a working Christmas tree farm. The trails are wide and grassy. The old logging road that we use as a trail to the river has an elevation change of about 500 feet, the trail can be quite challenging. Bear Creek empties into the Tilton river at the end of the trail. There is an ART GALLERY where you can learn to pound flowers, see the host's artwork and get a cup of coffee! This is upstairs through the check-in entry-way. Tilton River Studio Gallery. Three sites have electrical hookups. Every site has a water spigot (use a pressure regulator if you want to hook up). No restrooms or sewer hookups. Garbage disposal site (dumpster) available Memorial Day to Labor Day. We look forward to hosting you!

Learn more about this land: We are a 501c3 Farm Sanctuary! We care for 70+ farm animals. You can follow us @onalaskafarmsanctuary on Facebook or Instagram. The camping area is nowhere near the animals or the rescue. But it does help support them! Our 45 acre parcel is "no frills camping" 15 minutes from Interstate 5. We are one hour from Mt Rainer and one hour and fifteen minutes from Mt Saint Helens. The camping area is an old christmas tree farm. We maintain two spots for camping. We have one porta-potty shared between campsites. Each campsite has one picnic table, fire-ring and access to a porta-potty. The area is quiet and secluded. Black-tailed Columbian deer are regular visitors, while the barn owls will serenade you in the evening. You will be able to see ALL the stars!  The road is suitable for small RVs, campervans, truck camping, small school buses, and cars (as long as the cars have some ground clearance). Not suitable for Class A RVs. It is an old logging road made of compacted rock. Cell service is OK. Upload/download speeds might be slow.

Pleasant Places campground is clean, quiet, spacious, and private with lots of nooks for R&R, as well as ample space for play and activities. It is an ideal location for large groups and in order to keep the campground as a single site, larger groups are given preference. Birdsong comes early here, and crickets and frogs light up the evenings. There aren't any city lights, so stargazing is a real delight. Centrally located and with 10 acres of field, forest, and farm, there is something of interest for everyone. In camp, you will find a rustic kitchen with three picnic tables, and a fire pit with accessories. There is a sink for your convenience so remember to bring water containers for hand and dish washing. The resource area for campers is at the second gate and has an electrical outlet, a water hose, and a wagon for transporting items to camp. We have several items for sale, including nice firewood bundles, farm-fresh eggs, and snacks for hand-feeding the farm animals. Lawn games (volleyball, badmintton, bocci ball), hammocks, a parachute, etc. are available for rent. We are Michael, Summer, Judy, and Chula, and we are pleased that you are considering a stay with us! If you have any questions or need special accommodations, please reach out, we will be happy to help if we can. If you do book, we are certain you’ll enjoy making Pleasant Places your outdoor home-away-from-home:) PS Looking for a bit more comfort while camping? Our property was part of a logging camp way back when before the mountain erupted on May 18th 1980. After the eruption the land raised 5 feet or so higher then it was previously. We found the property and loved the closeness of the river and purchased the land from Weyerhaeuser 10 years ago and had have been enjoying it ever since.

The best camping in Mossyrock Park, WA guide

Overview

About

Sittin’ pretty on the south shore of Riffe Lake is Mossyrock Park. This beauty combines the fun vibes of a public park with the incredible forested panoramas and endless waters that Washington is known for. There’s a good mix of campsites, playgrounds, swimming areas and volleyball courts—the perfect nature-to-recreation ratio! Run around and play or relax the day away. Fishermen can cast off at Riffe Lake or take a little trip to another local hotspot, Swofford Pond. Boaters can launch quickly and easily so you can spend all your time out on the water. For other adventurers, you can’t miss the chance to marvel at Mossyrock Dam. Not only is it the tallest dam in the entire state, it also generates enough electricity for 78,000 PNW homes! Whoa. That’s some serious power. If you harness any energy from it, use your forces for good and get to Mossyrock for some old-fashioned family fun!

Notable campgrounds

  • Water/Electric Hookup Sites: Enjoy the convenience of 76 sites with water and electric amenities amid the park's natural beauty.
  • Primitive Group Camps: For a more rustic experience, choose one of the two group camps offering a total of 12 sites without hookups.
  • Walk-in Tent Sites: Embrace the tranquility of nature at the walk-in tent and S’mores Loop sites, perfect for tent campers.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Reserve individual campsites up to nine months in advance for peak season dates between May 15 and Sept. 15.
  • For group camps, also book up to nine months ahead to secure your ideal spot.
  • Take advantage of the first-come, first-served policy for walk-in sites between Sept. 16 and May 14, excluding the park's closure dates.
  • Explore nearby camping options if your preferred dates or sites are unavailable.

When to go

The best time to visit Mossyrock Park is between May 15 and Sept. 15, when all facilities are open and the weather is ideal for camping and outdoor activities. Avoid planning your trip from Dec. 20 to Jan. 1, as the park is closed during this period.

Know before you go
