We stayed here for the weekend in a 32 foot trailer was a beautiful view. Wood for fire and grass was nice no mud. People have talked about black dog he is at a corner before you even get to the gate no issues he just loves tires I think !! We will be back for sure.

We enjoyed camping here. Beautiful view of Mayfield Lake. Very quiet and spacious and a lovely spot to watch the sun set. It was convenient to be so close to the lake for paddle boarding and E-Foiling. We had a great experience.

If you want to sit in relative quiet with a lovely view, this is a recommended spot. Owner’s communication was outstanding. NOTE: If you have dogs, there isn’t much room to roam due to blackberry bushes and neighboring property owner. NOTE: The neighboring property owner was quiet and kept their dogs fenced, but you’ll need to keep a close eye on your own dogs to ensure that they respect the property boundary. .

The site was easy to access and had an amazing view of the sunset over the lake. Deer visited in the early evening. A fire pit was well stocked with wood and non-potable water to douse if needed.
The winds can be gusty so be prepared to secure all items and watch the fire closely. There are some walking paths on the property but much of the 7 acres is not very accessible. The ridge at the top is primarily where you will be.
Reminder to please pick up after your pets as we had to watch our step at times.
Had a great time and would stay again.

The view is fabulous! More than enough room for our extended family with 3 RVs lots of space for the kids and adults and all our games. Kim had a stack of firewood for us to use. The kids picked blackberries which we used as a topping on our home made gelato! Gorgeous sunset sky over the water in the evenings. The host is top notch and great with communication. One of our favorite HipCamp trips!

This was truly a beautiful spot--sunsets were amazing. The host was kind and helpful, and left fire and water so that we were able to have a campfire, even in summer. It's not quite as private and seculuded as we would like, with next door neighbors visible, but it caused no issues. We ended up not bringing our dog, but probably would have had her on a long lead instead of off leash. There were some cool places to visit off the highway with info about the dam, lake, and local towns. All round a nice experience!

Liked it so much the first time, went back. Check out my first review. It is a wonderful place. Took the dogs down for a swim at the lake. There is a marina you can rent boats.

Beautiful view of the lake and sunsets. Flat camping conditions with plenty of firewood provided. Quiet and private. Recreation areas within 10 minutes. We took our dogs swimming. It was a perfect getaway. We plan to return.

This property did not disappoint. The views from everywhere were stunning and a great position for colorful sunsets. It was quiet and beautiful and clean with firewood , water, and a shovel left for us. We saw deer and bunnies and enjoyed some full days on the lake only 4 minutes away. I'll be back 1000%

It was exactly what I wanted. The view was exceptional. The fact that we were the only campers there, see video, was made us fall in love with the place. I love Boondocking, the fact that there were no hookups gave us the opportunity to use the systems. Everything worked well, no problems uncovered. Now we can leave for our 3 month trip. Thank you Kim ! We will be back.

We had a great laid-back camping weekend at Kim's property. Directions to the site were easy to follow and the location was awesome with fantastic views. Just two of us and our dog, but plenty of space for a larger group to spread out. Would return!

Gorgeous views and wonderful large space. Perfect for our group campout! The view out over the Cowlitz is perfect. We heard nothing at night other than frogs when falling asleep and birds in am. Our group was mixed with kids and dogs. Plenty of space for everyone and our 8 tents with 10 cars!

Our stay was largely positive, however, we encountered an issue with an extremely aggressive black dog that repeatedly approached and jumped at our vehicle both upon arrival and departure and followed us halfway down the road to the campsite fence (the road isn't long). This animal's behavior created a constant sense of unease since there is a noticeable gap in the campsite's perimeter fence, which could easily be circumvented. Due to these concerns, we felt it was unsafe to allow our own dog off-leash at any point during our stay. We also had to leave a day early after high winds broke our tent on the first night. While neither the dog's behavior nor the weather are the site owner's fault, these issues combined to make this spot not the right fit for us.

We like to camp off the beaten path. When looking for a Hipcamp we wanted a few things that were nonnegotiable.
1) Private
2) Beautiful
3) Dog friendly
4) Within 3 hours of Portland, Oregon
5) A host who was communicative.
This spot checked all of the boxes!
It’s about 2.5 hours from Portland doing about 60 mph which is the speed that we tow our 17’ trailer.
The directions were clear and accurate.
The dogs could be off lead and there was a this road that we could walk down to find blackberries, not yet in season, but in abundance.
The camping area looks out over Mayfield lake with many options. We chose to have our front window look out over the lake.
The camping area is not level, as it’s like a large mown meadow, but was easy to level with basic blocks.
There is shade and sun.
The fire pit has enough ash and soil to back fires for overnight, but do bring water specifically for drowning the fire as the wind can easily pick up.
The hosts left a huge pile of well-seasoned firewood which we barely made a dent in even with evening and morning fires.
If you don’t feel like cooking breakfast on the morning you leave, there is a lovely little coffee shop and cafe called The Lemon Tree Cafè and Espresso with great food and friendly service.
Plan on being self contained as this is a beautiful open area with no services.
We look forward to booking this site again!

My friends and I planned a last-minute getaway for Memorial Day weekend, and I’m so glad we found this spot. The campsite was absolutely stunning and incredibly spacious! We brought a camper, set up several tents and games, and still had plenty of room to spread out.
The view was breathtaking—truly one of the highlights—and the privacy of the site made it feel like our own little slice of nature. It was especially nice to let my dog roam freely without needing to be on a leash the entire time.
The free firewood was an unexpected bonus and made our evenings around the campfire even better. From the moment we settled in, we were already checking the calendar to see when we could come back this summer.
Thank you, Kim, for sharing your beautiful property with us. We had an amazing weekend and can’t wait to return!

We wanted something easy but with a beautiful view for our first overnight in our 1992 VW camper - this property fit the ticket! Great stay, beautiful weather. Directions provided were clear and easy to follow.

The site is great! Clean and open. The view is amazing, and the host is very nice and helpful. Just before you get to the property, there's a black dog that comes running out at your vehicle. Take your time through there. The dog never came near the campsite so he wasn't a problem. Just a heads up, keep an eye out for him.

We had an incredible New Year’s stay at this campsite! The host was great, providing clear directions that made it super easy to find. The site itself was spotless, with an amazing view that made the experience unforgettable.
It was perfect for our dog to roam freely—plenty of space and completely dog-friendly. The fire pit and provided firewood were such thoughtful touches and made our evenings extra cozy.
While there’s a house nearby, it’s far enough away to still feel very private and peaceful. Overall, it was a fantastic way to ring in the new year, and we’d definitely stay here again! 🎇🔥🐾

Our 2nd time staying here because we love it so much! Took some friends with us as there is plenty of room for multiple RV's. Was chilly and rainy the second half of our 2 night stay but that just made it cozy for us. I love finding spots that are secluded and have a view to offer, this place has both. Just a great place to set your trailer facing that beautiful water view and relax. No hookups or anything "fancy" but we bring all we need in our motor home - for us its all about privacy and view. Highly recommend if you want a beautiful secluded little get away. <3

The view from this site is 11/10 - amazing! We got lucky to be there on a beautiful fall weekend and got a beautiful sunset to end our day!
The site itself is pretty private. See my photos-as you come down the driveway the lot is at the very end of a private road. As you face the view there is a house to the right side, but its pretty far away and I didn't feel like it was intruding on my privacy. We didn't even see a person over there the entire 2 days we were there. There is a well house and garage, (the red buildings) a little closer but again far enough away that it didn't bother us at all or make it feel like they were in our space. Only time we saw another person was actually the field behind us, came over with their tractor and were doing something with the fence - other than that it was perfectly quiet and serene.
I always read reviews and wanted to comment on the one negative review - part of that being the paragraph above about the neighboring house....its not that close or impeding your privacy, probably a football field away. They also mentioned their car being charged by a dog...that happened to us as well on our way in/out but it didn't follow us or come onto the property-owned by one of the houses on the way in. So, not a big deal.
All in all this place was fantastic! View amazing! Quiet and private! I think $60 is a tad steep for no hookups...but with that said I would still go back. Nice big open lot, firepit and wood provided. The view alone!
