We would like to open it up to dry camping, some cabins, and RV Space with partial hookups at this time as we are already seeing a huge influx of cyclists and motorcycles in the area and they have no place to camp. Play in Hood River during the day, relax in the country at night. We're 6.5 miles up in the hills, called High Prairie, above the sleepy town Lyle.
Enjoy the peace on our 5 acre hideaway, wake up with the chickens.
Take a walk to look at Mt. Adams which is just around the corner. Hiking, biking, kite boarding, windsurfing all within a few miles of reach with never ending opportunities to get your exercise. Just ask for tips.
The land has mostly Oak trees where you can take your nap in your hang matt. The place is easy accessible, far away from all but still close to all Gorge attractions during the day. The town has a nice little convenience store, country cafe, Chinese restaurant, and new to our town "Confluence Cafe" right at the entrance by the Klickitat River - Awesome views - yummy treats and coffee. Matt and Ali are super cool, go check it out.
Grocery shopping is best done in Hood River, White Salmon or
The Dalles. Once up here, there isn't much, so come prepared.

While unlisted, an adjacent site "Hideout in the Hollow", can often be made available also per request.
There is a spring fed water spigot at the corral for washing up. While our family finds this spring water safe & refreshing to drink, keep in mind, it is UNfiltered thus classified as non-potable water that needs to be purified before drinking.
This site offers a unique experience where you can take a closer look at farm life by encountering cows, pigs, goats & free-range chickens. Feed them apples when available or even your left over food scraps! Don't forget to meet Petunia, our beloved free-range Kunekune pig. While shy at 1st, her affinity for snacks & belly rubs makes her favor easily earned.
Beyond the farm, you'll find yourself perfectly situated just 1.5 miles east of Catherine Creek Rec. Area. This prime location caters to a wide range of interests, from hiking & mountain biking to hunting & rock climbing at Coyote Wall. We are new stewards and first-time homeowners of this serene, 10.5 acre homestead. 'Modern' human development on this land first began in old logging days in the early 1900s and old logging access road still runs through the center of our property. When we purchased this land in 2020, we knew we were investing in a real 'fixer-upper'.
The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades. By the time we landed here, however, the home was in severe state of neglect. As we continue to care for and restore this home and land, we aim to use environmentally sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the land while upcycling, recycling, and re-using anything we can in the process!

The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging.
The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019, we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen.
A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail.
Zigzag Mountain Farm offers the perfect escape from the city.

Weekend Trip to The Snowden Yurt
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay while we were out in White Salmon and Mt. Hood! Richard and his family were so hospitable, kind and responsive to anything we needed. The yurt was perfect, everything was set up, clean and ready to go. They even had water for us to drink from their well so no worries on having your potable water with you. All cooking supplies were included and they kept us warm with heating options. Showering was great to have after being on trails all day and Richard made it easy to access and use all the amenities. We had a great stay and will absolutely stay here when we come back if it’s available. It’s tucked away just right with quick access to the town and everything you’d need.

This was our first time camping with our 2 dogs, and this was the absolute perfect spot. There’s lots of space for them to run around and explore. Water was available and portable toilets nearby. Fire pit, with lots of pre cut wood available for our use. There’s even a blackstone for use if we needed. It was extremely peaceful and John was a great host, extremely friendly and even brought out a power cord for us to borrow. It was a little tricky finding the camp site but John was more than helpful even FaceTimed us to help find our location. I would absolutely book this campsite again!

Me and my group really enjoyed the Dream Tree campsite. As previously reviewed about this site it is next to a country road and there is a trench, but with our kids, two five year olds and one three year old, it wasn't a problem. Our kids loved this place! If you do have smaller kiddos I would recommend the site next to Dream Tree as that site would be perfect for them. We had the best time and will definitely be coming back! It was magically to roam about and explore, there were wood peckers, I even heard an owl. The site was clean, big and private. There was wood to purchase, good quality and affordable. Chris was very friendly and helpful. I bought some farm fresh eggs, which were delicious and I can't wait to come back when the farm stand is in full swing. This place is a true gem!

I was running really late due to unforeseen circumstances and Amy was very flexible with my check in. I really appreciated it especially since I got in way after dark. I loved the area. Absolutely amazing. Everything here is tended with such care and mindfulness, my kids are already asking when we can go back to the bus in the woods! The walking trails are perfection too, enough challenge that the kids paid close attention to everything around them, but with ample wide areas that they could run and scream, too. Peaceful, beautiful, open and secluded. We feel so honored to have shared space in such a sanctuary. And the moon and stars here were to die for! We loved parking our bus at the site! It was spacious and clean! Another camper family left some doggie poo pies, but otherwise, we had tons of fun! We went on the Coyote Wall Hike nearby which was so beautiful! There land had duck's, cats, chickens, roosters, a Goat I think, and doggos! Very fun c: We made a fire and did lots of meditation.

Weekend Trip to Zigzag Mountain Farm on Mount Hood
Yurt was very cozy for a winter trip. Convenient location for Mt Hood ski access. The campground is charming - we enjoyed using the converted bus kitchen. This was our second stay, and we would book again.
