Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. For July 4th weekend, and Labor Day weekend drive-up sites are a 2 night minimum. In the off season starting after Thanksgiving through April, there is no water or toilet or shower facilities available. The solar shower and water lines may be shut off any time in October if freezing conditions prevail. Please check with us. Our 75 acres is a wonderful, diverse mix of habitat, harmoniously integrated with our small farm. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. You are also free to use our outdoor solar shower or take a dip in the cold pond or artesian spring fed pool. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you. We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age. Weekend Trip to Riverhaven

We had a peaceful and restorative visit to River Haven. Lovely to wake up facing the trees and to the sound of the water. Especially beautiful in early October with the fall colors. We rarely camp and this was the perfect amount of outdoors (fire, outhouse, on a trail) blended with creature comforts (propane grill, propane heater in cabin, comfy bed and quilts, electric lamp). Also a great location in the woods but a close drive to the cute town of Bennington where we got dinner and did some vintage shopping. Would love to come back sometime!

I ducked in and out without meeting my host and hostess, but there was no need. Everything was perfect. What great stream sounds while sitting in a lovely arm chair or retiring to a very comfortable, clean bed. Nice paths to walk for a little hiking.

Weekend Trip to Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

Another year another campout at Upper Shire. We love this place, the area and Joanna. This time we stayed at the new cabin. So cozy, specially this rainy windy weekend. We didn’t mind, made it more cozy. There’s a mini propane heater with a glass front that added ambiance and warmth to the cabin. Do I need to mention the outdoor showers again? My absolute favorite part, specially with fall brisk temperatures. Instant and endless hot water gives you time to enjoy the moment. The surrounding area has so many choices of top notch breakfast lunch and dinner. Hudson is 30 minutes with tons of restaurants and you’re right on the border of Massachusetts where there’s even more to do. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you again Joanna!

Great time - Bill (the host) is a great guy, very welcoming and shows great hospitality and respect for your space. The onsite port-a-potty was maybe the cleanest one I've been in. The cabins were nice with modern flooring and the beds were surprisingly cozy. He gave us all the wood we could burn for the bonfire and even had it started up by the time we got back from hiking Kaaterskill Falls (highly recommended hike). There are also trails to walk around the site which are nice for a stroll if you don't want to leave the site. Cornhole and Horseshoes to play around. no sink or electricity. 10/10.

We had such a wonderful stay here! The area was absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and everything was incredibly clean and well maintained. The host was also fantastic—very communicative, responsive, and helpful throughout our stay. You can tell a lot of care goes into this place. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it to others!

Weekend Trip to The Little Witch Cottage

We loved our time here! We came through for a bikepacking trip, and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Check-in was great and Caitlin met us at the cottage to show us around briefly, the place is exactly as described and the area is gorgeous. Plenty of places nearby for essentials, and super close to various different towns to explore. Would absolutely book again; thank you for having us!

Weekend Trip to The Cabin

The cabin served as the perfect home base for our trip to surrounding outdoor recreation (hiking, biking, climbing are all around!). We felt secluded but also safe. Hosts were friendly and kind but also gave us our space. Best outhouse ever and the fairy houses were an added bonus. We regret not staying longer to checkout Shelburne Falls and perhaps just spend a day unwinding at the cabin with its great view and peaceful vibes. Just means we will have to be back soon!

Weekend Trip to The Deer Crib at Flat Rock Farm

This was our 3rd annual stay at the Deer Crib. We had such a great time with our family and dogs. There’s so much for the kids to do between the field and the trails and the swamp/pond. We always have the best time unplugging and hanging out all weekend. The cabin is well stocked with all we needed to cook and be comfortable. The hosts are kind and responsive and we’re already looking forward to our visit next year!

Beartown Campground

My friend and I loaded up our bikes and decided to go (hammock) camping for the weekend. With only 12 campsites, this place is a gem! The Benedict Pond Trail is just shy of 2 miles and gorgeous. Lots of trails to hike, mountain bike, or ATV. Amenities include a water spigot, composting toilets, beach, swimming area in the pond, changing area, and flush toilets/running water. The rangers are rad too. A+ Gold Star Will Camp Here Again
