My 8-year-old daughter and I stayed at Jane’s place for 4 nights and it was absolutely wonderful. It is a small paradise of flowering trees and bushes, endless birdsong - close to any amenities you’d need, but tucked away so that when you’re there, you’re immersed in your little world. Jane was a kind and attentive host, bringing us hot water every morning, showing us around the property, and spending time with my daughter, planting some seeds in pots and letting us take them with us. We can’t wait to come back!

We loved our stay!! We had a group of twelve 11th graders from our high school Outdoor Club along with three chaperones and we all gave it a glowing 5 stars! The property is amazing. We had one group of tents up near the “honey house” - it had a sink, electric outlets, a bucket toilet and shower. Another group camped down by the water. There is a great pavilion where we enjoyed our meals together. The pavilion also had a bucket toilet and shower. As fantastic as the property was, the host was even better! Jane is so kind, warm and helpful. A nature lover, she shared some of her knowledge with us, gave us tips on things to do and just made us feel so welcomed! We’ll be back!!

We loved the thoughtfulness of Jane’s hosting. She really made an effort to welcome us and be sure we had everything we needed.
The space is a true gem, with natural tree and understory screening the site from the neighboring homes. Cool sea breezes helped make camping in August tolerable. The pavilion itself is tall enough to accommodate our tall tent, so we slept without the rain fly to catch the breeze. When a thunderstorm blew up, we were cozy and dry- no wet tent to pack up!!!

Jane was incredible, so kind, thoughtful and accommodating. Her camping spot was so perfect, it was especially nice having the option to wash off safely at our site after a day at the beach. We ended up having a thunderstorm roll in but were able to stay completely safe and dry in this site! The trees made it feel very serene and secluded and we were a short trip from the beach. Would’ve loved to stay longer- we’re hoping to come visit again soon! Thanks for having us Jane ♥️

Jane was an incredibly gracious host and worked with us when we got a nail in our tire an hour into our four hour drive to her site! She was very understanding and flexible. Jane provided a lovely tour of the land upon arrival and loaned us a screwdriver when we needed one. She had lots of suggestions for excursions and restaurants- even offering to pick up items at the local farmer's market for us.
We had plenty of space to do our own thing and the campsite itself was lovely. It was so nice to see how Jane manages the land with care and consideration for the local wildlife. My sister and I are hoping to make staying at Jane's a yearly summer tradition! We would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you, Jane!!!

What a great spot for a coastal getaway. The site was exactly as described and Jane was a GREAT host. She met us on arrival and gave us a tour of her beautiful land before leaving us to get settled in. It's a very short walk from the parking area to the tea house shelter, and then another very short walk down to the waterfront. The shower (garden hose) and toilet (freestanding commode with disposable liners) were right on the camping platform, and an outlet was available near the parking area. The nearby marina restaurant was a highlight! Closest public access beaches are Surf City or Wrightsville, both about 25-30 min away. If you have a canoe/kayak, this site is a GREAT way to get out onto the water. We hope to be back!

Jane is a very welcoming host. Her property is located on the beautiful intracoastal waterway. We camped at site 2 which is by the potting shed where you have access to the covered porch. We woke up to an absolute chorus of birdsong.

Jane was an amazing host with a beautiful property. The Pavillion with campsite 1 was amazing, it's huge and we made it though a weekend of heavy downfalls completely dry.
We decided to not moor our boat with the unpredictable weather, and it wasn't fun driving 20 minutes one way to the public launch but knew that coming into it and our choice. (of course 97% of storms went around us- and ended up a great weekend)
Perfect spot on site to access water for kayak/canoe.
Amenities at site were above and beyond - Jane has a shower station - cold, but rejuvenating 😜. A commode with the liners/needed equipment, and the shelter itself.
We will be back!

Jane was an amazing hostess and went out of her way to make strawberry sorbet and take us around the site to make us as comfortable as possible. We definitely will spread the word to others, and its a great place when your on a budget!

Jane’s place was nothing short of magical. She is a steward for this land, keeping it appropriately wild, free of chemicals, sprinkled with dandelions and blueberries. This little oasis she has created is charming. The campsite is primative in amenities as mentioned but the covered gazebo feels regal. Be prepared for insects and friendly lizards if you’re not already familiar. Jane treated us with coffee in the morning as we forgot ours, and that was a most appreciative touch. We are sad to not have stayed there more nights, and already talk about going back!

We loved kayaking from the property to a private white sand beach! I can’t say enough great things about this host! The property was big enough to fit our truck with an on top tent. Jane will go out of the way for you. She’s amazing. The property is amazing. We also visited the marina about a block away from the site for meals and drinks! Perfect spot for after the ocean kayaking session.

Jane has done a fabulous job keeping this amazing land wild and beneficial to wildlife and humans alike. She is a land steward and hostess extraordinaire. We especially enjoyed meeting her and talking with her while she gave us a tour in her gator. Grateful for this wonderful person and her willingness to share her knowledge and land with us. Jane and Pete were absolutely the best hosts! They thought of everything and made us feel so welcome. Jane has created a magical food forest and beautiful garden areas for campers. Their space is a hidden gem that they are so kind to share with others. We will be back with our kids! Thank you Jane and Pete for sharing your space and taking such good care of us!!

Jane is so kind and welcoming, she offered to bring us whatever we needed and ensured our comfort. The campsite was also very secluded and romantic. Loved the pavilion and view. What an amazing site and host! Since I was camping alone with my kids, I wanted to find a site that was private yet felt safe. Jane’s place was the perfect spot. It felt like we had our own little oasis since we were surrounded by lush trees and bushes and a beautiful view of the water, but Jane was was always within reach if we needed help. As soon as we got there she gave us a fun tour of her property and helped us tote all of our gear to our site. The kids had a blast being so close to the intracoastal waterway. They loved chasing the crabs, watching the boats and finding shells. Next time we will be sure to bring fishing gear and maybe some kayaks. Jane is one of the sweetest people we have met and our family feels so lucky to have found this gem of place!

Excellent spot! Easy 20 minute drive from UNCW as we were here for parents weekend. Site 1 had great privacy and the shelter gave us the opportunity to not have a rain fly on our tent which was awesome to wake up and see the colorful sky at sunrise. Jane was very accommodating and eager to support our trip. We stayed a little later on Sunday to enjoy time on the water with SUPs and our kayak. The aluminum boat cart was key with four vessels. We woke to happy sounds of folks leaving the nearby harbor/marina. Our family strolled along the back path to grab lunch on the upper deck at The Sailfish Restaurant. Ballyhoos is a cool spot under the restaurant to grab cold beverages and chill by the water while checking out boats cruising in the ICW. We look forward to four years of popping into this Hip Camp while we visit our child at UNCW. Too much fun! Oh, definitely eat breakfast at Cast Iron Kitchen! Thank you for offering up space on your impressive piece of heaven. Cheers!

This site was so lovely and the host could not have been nicer. Even though you are next to her house and a neighbor you have all the privacy you need. The camp site on the water was really what makes this great. The view is during sunrise is unbeatable. Would definitely stay again.

This was a beautiful location. We camped at site 1 and it had good privacy, a beautiful covered structure that you could hang hammocks or lights from, semi-wild herbs that help with the biting insects, and a somewhat primitive but effective method of showering which came in handy. Tips with that: Let the water run for a minute and the smell from the well water will start to go away, and also keep anything that needs to stay dry on a stool or 8+ feet from the shower if on the ground so water doesn't run over to it. Jane was very hospitable and friendly during our stay, giving us a full tour of the property and allowing us to pick some herbs for food we had brought. Also offered a gallon of filtered water from the house. You can enter the water from the coast, water shoes recommended, and there's plenty of area off the campsite to walk around and enjoy the nature. Beautiful property, highly recommend.

This is such a beautiful place. Jane met us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the property on her gator. She was so sweet. We woke up and walked over to the river to watch the birds and the sunrise. I would definitely come back.

Jane’s property is beautiful, and she’s a great host! In a world full of golf course yards, it was refreshing to see her natural landscaping. Site 1 is tucked away nicely because of this, and the pavilion is a perfect place to hang hammocks. In the summer, I would recommend bringing a tent to sleep in to provide a safe haven from the prevalent bugs. Hammock sleeping would be great for less buggy seasons! We took advantage of the waterfront and brought our kayaks, and greatly appreciated the dolly Jane had on hand to cart them down to the water. We are looking forward to staying here again!
