I am Karl and with my wife Danielle together we own 15 acres of peacefully settled forest on the edge of over 10,000 acres of State Forest land. It is on a seasonal road. I have no registered address, but a small sign marks my access road as Jacob Lane. This is a tribute to my friends. The Amish that helped me build our off-grid cabin. It is very quiet here, but we are an active homestead and work starts at 9am every day, we do our best to be considerate and ask the same from you. The forest rangers and DEC officers that patrol here keep a tight rein on the forest and its preservation. We have one guest cabin and several places a tent or RV can park. There are no hookups. Please bring some potable water. We do have spring water available but it's a drive. I first came here about 15 years ago. I would like to try and see if others would enjoy what we have made our lives. I do like to talk and although I don't lie, stretching the truth is an artform I have perfected so be prepared. There is a state-run beach and picnic area about 3 minute drive away on the Hinkley Reservoir. And a few other bodies of water to kayak and fish. We have Kayaks for use at an extra cost. We are about 15 to 20 minutes away from the Herkimer Diamond Mines. You can bike, hike, nature watch or just enjoy the peacefulness of the tree you chose to sit against. Down and ready firewood is everywhere if you want to bend over and pick it up. You can possess firearms on the property, but you may not discharge one without prior approval unless it's to save your life or that of another. There are places not far away that you can legally shoot and enjoy yourself. There are traditional outhouses on the property and for those that know how cat holing is allowed. Ask if unsure. No dumping tanks or portable toilets anywhere and that includes the outhouses. The state of New York has facilities at campgrounds that do a proper job with that type of waste. If you stop by, I will see you. If not go find what you seek and enjoy what has been created for everyone to pursue. Happiness. Peace be with you. Karl and Danielle

It is quiet, private and relaxing. The vibe of the lake is to chill and relax, laud activities not encourage. No motorboats allowed on lake for a more relaxing experienced. Bass fishing is amazing and the water is perfect for swimming.
Next to the campsite you will have a nice fire pit with Adirondack chairs, plenty of firewood for sale at a low cost.

A beautiful and affordable stay! The hosts were wonderful, we (the dogs and I) had the whole property to ourselves. Checked out the local conscience store/sandwich shop they recommended and it was excellent. There’s electricity but no heat so I brought a small space heater with me for the chilly nights, it worked great for the space! The dogs loved the pond and all the land to run on. The cabin was very cozy. Thank you Sydney for making this a beautiful and affordable place to stay. It was amazing, we will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to The Smithy
We absolutely loved the Smithy! Sydney and Peter have a wonderful set up from extra blankets to keep us warm and the hot shower made our trip was so enjoyable. We fished in the pond, took walks around the property, and watched the sunset both mornings from the top of the hill. Our dog absolutely loved the cut trails and joining us fishing and doing yoga! Truly a one of a kind spot. We can't wait to visit again!

2 nights at Coyote Hollow Park
We had a delightful stay at campsite number two. While originally booked in campsite number one, Christine and her husband asked us if we would be interested in moving to site 2 and we are glad we did. It was a 24 square foot tent with a couch, all kitchen essentials, a fridge, lots of bedding, a trashcan, flashlights and a heater. Only thing that we were required to bring with the clothes and shoes. Everything else was either present or available to buy from the camp store. The store was filled with food items, ice creams, drinks bathrobe, spa packets, basically everything you would need on this getaway. Plus, they provide breakfast in the morning on the days of your stay, which is very filling and elaborate. In fact it was one of the highlights of our day to be having breakfast amidst such nice lush views. The stay also comes with a complementary night of using hot bathtubs, which is just a few steps away from the camp and is highly recommended. The walk behind the campsite into the forest is beautiful especially this time of the year as we could spot a lot of fall colors and leaves. In the morning, the camp is filled with chirps of the birds. The only hiccup during our stay was the incessant rain during night time and then some until the next afternoon. So next time we would take the rain insurance, but host fixed us with heater fuel amidst the heavy rain. It was really helpful. We enjoyed dinner just 20 min drive away in the town of town named Cooperstown.

It was a wonderful stay. The cabin was perfect for an anniversary getaway weekend with our 2 dogs. We explored the property with them and earned our cellular signal with a walk up the hill a few times. We had beautiful sunny days but the weather has turned chilly at night - a small electric heater that we brought kept us comfortable without issue. The sandwiches at Bob’s were wonderful and the whole weekend was a success - thank you!

Our experience at The Christmas Tree Farm Hidden Delight was absolutely wonderful. Mary was a fantastic host. She was friendly and thorough in her communication, even recommending places to enjoy in the area. We arrived later in the day and were thrilled that she had started a fire in the woodstove inside the tent and had also started a campfire for us. So very thoughtful and a fabulous surprise. The site itself is incredibly private with amazing views. The firewood she provided was dry and plentiful, a bonus since it was a bit chilly for much of our visit. It was great to be able to have the dogs off leash too. We enjoyed our time immensely and highly recommend the site. Thank you, Mary!

Being welcomed by Karl and Danielle and our path illuminated by torches was a new Hipcamp experience for us. They made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and made us feel welcome. They have trails cleared and Karl offered a lot of local tips and suggestions for the surrounding area and into the Adirondacks. We had such an amazing time. The cabin was so cute and they provided a heater and build a fire for us to come into. We loved being surrounded by all the nature and it was so peaceful and calm. We went on a hike. we had great food and we just really enjoyed ourselves. It was a short distance up to old Forge for us where we had some stuff we needed to pick up And then when we came back, Carl had built us another fire to come home too, and it was just amazing. We listened to the owls and the squirrels and all sorts of other animals in the woods. Was so peaceful. We definitely would love to come back again

We only stayed one night but had a lovely time. Benjamin was very helpful and gave us great tips for hikes in the area. Definitely recommend!

We stayed at the new site 3 with its own set of soaking tubs and private bathroom/shower. It was a great time beautiful spot everything was provided that we needed to have a great weekend here! Hope to be back next year!

1 night at Reflections Homestead
This was a great stay. Karl is one of the best hosts that you could ask for. The cabin was nicely insulated. Wood was abundant to keep the fire going as long as you would like. There’s a path that you can walk up and down with beautiful scenery. The price was very reasonable for what you’re getting. I’m DEFINITELY coming back.

We had such a peaceful time here! Karl and his wife met us at check in and gave us the run down. We had some great conversation and Karl even started the fire for us while we ran to the gas station for last min items! It was such a nice surprise to come back and have it going. Also Karl does an amazing impression of the local owls and tried to bring one in closer for us, it was quite the entertainment!! We needed the respite after being at our lil sisters wedding the night before. The stars at night area AMAZING! I highly recommend a stay here! I also can’t wait to see how the cabin grows in its decorating! :) Thanks again for sharing your property with us we will see you again!

Weekend Trip to Coyote Hollow Park
Exactly as advertised! Christine and her husband have put their all into this campsite and you can tell! There were many thoughtful, small things that made life easier- cooking equipment, seasonings, shower body washes, shower caddy, warm blankets, flashlights, a fan, mini fridge, etc. You quite literally have everything you need! And the camp store was a beautiful addition to our store and gave you that nostalgic feeling of being a kid at camp. The camp store had everything we needed and more, we especially appreciated the energy drinks lol. The shower and bathroom were kept meticulously clean. The stars were beautiful at night and the solar lighting everywhere was helpful and awesome. The perfect place to unplug while not having to do too much work. Thank you so much!

3 nights at Deja Yu
So welcoming and peaceful! When I met Savanna upon arrival, she said, “the camp is a labor of love.” And it shows! She and her husband Brad have made a little slice of heaven in a beautiful stand of hard woods and mature white pine. The cabin is off grid but powered up by a high-capacity battery. Super comfy and cozy, it’s a great one-room refuge. Bonus points for the screened porch entryway and easy chairs.
A bath house is a short walk with an outdoor work sink and a lovely interior with tile floors, nice shower, and bath sink I’d be proud to have in my home. Warm, clean, and inviting, it’s a beautiful bath house.
Tho there is no wi-fi, cell works well-enough to stream a movie or podcast.
Highly recommend!
