The campsite is so cute, the fire pit was perfect, the cabin was also great! Very clean! I expected to see spiders inside the cabin and I don't think I even saw 1. Karl was very kind and welcoming. I even loved being greeted by the two goats as we were packing to leave. Wonderful experience!

We loved staying at Karl's Serenity Cabin. He generously built a campfire when we arrived and shared knowledge of the surrounding land. The cabin is clean and cozy, and our stay was incredibly peaceful. Thank you!!

We had such a wonderful stay at Into the Wild! The cabin was cozy, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for. Karl was an incredible host—so accommodating, helpful, and knowledgeable about the property and the area. He even took us on a walk around the trails, which made the experience so much more special. You can really tell he cares about his guests and wants them to enjoy everything the property has to offer. The setting is beautiful, quiet, and perfect for relaxing by the fire or exploring the woods. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!

The cabin on Karl’s land was beyond amazing!! Very safe and comfortable fitting four of us. 10000 percent recommend. Karl and his daughter were helpful, accommodating and welcoming. We hope to visit again.

We were really looking forward to this stay, and it exceeded our expectations! Karl greeted us when we arrived, along with his daughter, and took the time to show us around and share helpful information about the property and the surrounding area.
The cabin was cozy and comfortable. The bed is a pull-out futon, so I would recommend bringing a mattress pad or sleeping bag if you prefer a little extra cushioning for sleeping. Karl has also recently installed a solar battery pack, which provides lighting and allows for basic device charging, making the cabin even more convenient.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would absolutely stay here again the next time we're in the area for hiking or visiting Utica. Highly recommend!

Just wrapped up an unforgettable stay at Karl’s Hipcamp, and it delivered exactly what I needed—a true hardcore reset from the digital grind. No constant pings, no screens demanding attention, just pure unplugging in the heart of nature. The property is a gem: pristine, well-maintained, and surrounded by beautiful nature trails that wind through stunning woods and scenery. Perfect for hiking, exploring, or just soaking in the quiet with family.
Karl himself is an absolute standout—super helpful, incredibly knowledgeable about the local area, trails, wildlife, and everything in between. He went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed and shared tips that turned a good trip into a great one. The setup was comfortable, the vibes were right, and everything felt thoughtfully put together without any of the usual campsite headaches.
All around, this was a top-tier experience that recharged us completely. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic outdoor escape. Already planning our next booking—can’t wait to get back!

My husband and I were looking for someplace quiet and private to relax and unwind. Karl lives on the property behind the cabin and welcomed us with a burning fire. Even with Karl on the property directly behind us, the cabin faced out into the forest and felt very private. We saw Karl one time when he stopped to ask if we needed anything. We came prepare to camp in a rustic cabin and were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to find we really didn’t need much. There was a camp stove and all of the cook wear and utensils, along with dishes, cups and silverware. Karl and is wife have really put thought into every detail. It didn’t bother us a bit when the nights were cold and the first night rained hard. We found a heater and Yahtzee game inside to keep us warm and content. I really can’t think of one way they could improve. Karl was very friendly. We didn’t get the pleasure of meeting his wife but maybe next time because we definitely plan to visit again. Thank you Karl.

Being welcomed by Karl and Danielle and our path illuminated by torches was a new Hipcamp experience for us. They made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and made us feel welcome. They have trails cleared and Karl offered a lot of local tips and suggestions for the surrounding area and into the Adirondacks. The atmosphere, maintaining a quiet space, and providing private campsites are priorities for them and we very much appreciated that.

We had such an amazing time. The cabin was so cute and they provided a heater and build a fire for us to come into. We loved being surrounded by all the nature and it was so peaceful and calm. We went on a hike. we had great food and we just really enjoyed ourselves. It was a short distance up to old Forge for us where we had some stuff we needed to pick up And then when we came back, Carl had built us another fire to come home too, and it was just amazing. We listened to the owls and the squirrels and all sorts of other animals in the woods. Was so peaceful. We definitely would love to come back again

This was a great stay. Karl is one of the best hosts that you could ask for. The cabin was nicely insulated. Wood was abundant to keep the fire going as long as you would like. There’s a path that you can walk up and down with beautiful scenery. The price was very reasonable for what you’re getting. I’m DEFINITELY coming back.

We had such a peaceful time here! Karl and his wife met us at check in and gave us the run down. We had some great conversation and Karl even started the fire for us while we ran to the gas station for last min items! It was such a nice surprise to come back and have it going. Also Karl does an amazing impression of the local owls and tried to bring one in closer for us, it was quite the entertainment!! We needed the respite after being at our lil sisters wedding the night before. The stars at night area AMAZING! I highly recommend a stay here! I also can’t wait to see how the cabin grows in its decorating! :) Thanks again for sharing your property with us we will see you again!

Karl was an amazing host! My partner and I stayed here for a bike trip through the Adirondacks and Karl accommodated all of our needs and requests. The space was clean, welcoming, comfortable and I’ll definitely book another stay!

Great peaceful stay in a rustic cabin. Karl was very friendly and greeted me even though it was quite late. It was a little hard to find the place in the dark because he doesn't have an exact address, but there is a traffic cone marked HipCamp at the end of their driveway that was very helpful. Nice clean space and kind attention to detail of showing me how things worked and making sure I was all set. Their cabin being close felt nice as a solo traveler, but I imagine couples looking for a romantic stay might hope for more distance from their main cabin. I was comforted by the sounds of their watchdog and the stars were beautiful. If you're sensitive to laundry detergents with fragrance I would bring your own blanket to block that from getting on your clothing from the sheets.

Serenity cabin
Karl is such a wonderful host, one of the kindest people I've met! The cabin was perfect, in an isolated spot, but still close enough to civilization if there was an emergency. It was cozy and had a ton of supplies like pots and pans, garbage bags, plastic cutlery, paper towels, a wash bucket. I appreciated the camp stove too! The fire pit was great and there was firewood there, along with kindling. The outhouse was super clean.
Karl and I sat for a bit (after checking on me I invited him to, otherwise he gives you plenty of space!) and had an interesting conversation about life, which was great. There were also some barred owls at night, and he knew how to call to them.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thanks for your hospitality Karl! 10/10 recommendation

The stay was more than we could have asked for- every detail was considered by the host! We arrived to the tiki torches lit for us, more than enough wood for the stone fire pit and found the cabin clean, comfy & totally equipped. We would have loved to stay longer, but we only had one night. The name “Serenity Cabin” is absolutely perfect for the space!

Serenity cabin is great if you’re looking for a peaceful, covered, low-key, off-grid stay in the woods. Karl and Danielle were awesome hosts who gave recommendations and assistance when needed. The grill outside +fire pit +propane stove inside allowed for multiple cooking options along with other provided amenities. The creek/reservoir had tranquil kayaking and nothing best fresh water out of a spring.

Relaxing in front of a crackling fire, surrounded by warm, honey-hued logs, is what cabin living is all about. Plush upholstered sofa and chairs make it easy to stay seated for many idle though happy hours.

Had a fantastic stay on Karl's property; he and Danielle are exceedingly kind hosts. I was coming to stay in a tent, but as it had rained heavily earlier, Karl offered to let me stay in his guest cabin which was super comfortable and smelled great.. They even invited me to join them for dinner which was a nice surprise! Had myself a campfire and a relaxing evening. We spent a good amount of time chatting the next day about the philosophy and the technology behind off-grid living. Karl also had some fascinating stories from his time working in search and rescue. He has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about the outdoors. I highly recommend you stay in this forest oasis!
