The Smithy
A beautiful and affordable stay! The hosts were wonderful, we (the dogs and I) had the whole property to ourselves. Checked out the local conscience store/sandwich shop they recommended and it was excellent. There’s electricity but no heat so I brought a small space heater with me for the chilly nights, it worked great for the space! The dogs loved the pond and all the land to run on. The cabin was very cozy. Thank you Sydney for making this a beautiful and affordable place to stay. It was amazing, we will definitely be back!

We absolutely loved the Smithy! Sydney and Peter have a wonderful set up from extra blankets to keep us warm and the hot shower made our trip was so enjoyable. We fished in the pond, took walks around the property, and watched the sunset both mornings from the top of the hill. Our dog absolutely loved the cut trails and joining us fishing and doing yoga! Truly a one of a kind spot. We can't wait to visit again!

The Smithy
It was a wonderful stay. The cabin was perfect for an anniversary getaway weekend with our 2 dogs. We explored the property with them and earned our cellular signal with a walk up the hill a few times. We had beautiful sunny days but the weather has turned chilly at night - a small electric heater that we brought kept us comfortable without issue. The sandwiches at Bob’s were wonderful and the whole weekend was a success - thank you!

We LOVED it. It's the coolest little cabin, hosts really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and it's all just so much fun! The property and area is also amazing and now we have to come back again :)

We loved The Smithy :) a lovely private location and easy to get to. Sydney and Peter were super accommodating from the moment I messaged to the moment we arrived. Everything was just as described. 10/10 would definitely come and stay again!! Thank you for having us!

The property is spectacular & serene, quiet and location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. The cabin and outhouse were clean and well taken care of. The outdoor shower had plenty of hot water for a sunrise shower.

I was looking for a last minute rustic getaway from Rochester that had some outdoor space & a dry spot to sleep. One that would accommodate my girlfriend, myself & our 2 dogs. The Smithy was perfect! From flowers & a heads up note when we arrived, to making use of the fire that was graciously already set up, with ample logs for burning provided.
We easily cooked dinner & breakfast on the induction burner. Coffee with the press in the morning was a good start. We used the outside cooler provided to separate our drinks from food. Walked the hill at sunset & appreciated the hot water in the outdoor shower. All in all, our short stay was renewing. A few hours in the silence of the area, stargazing is as peaceful as it gets. Thank you for offering up this wonderful space! We will be back for a longer stay for sure.

I loved my stay at The Smithy! It was peaceful, calming, and restorative, surrounded by the stunning fall foliage of Cherry Valley, NY. The cabin had everything I needed: a cozy bed that gave me deep sleep with the soothing sound of raindrops on the roof, a star-filled sky during a midnight trip to the clean outhouse, and a perfect hot cup of coffee to enjoy while watching the morning mist rise. The sunrise-facing deck was ideal for my yoga practice, and the WiFi allowed me to host video coaching calls — one of the best office setups I’ve ever had!
It was so quiet that I could hear the wind from birds' wings as they flew over the pond, and so private that I even took a refreshing cold dip! I loved all the little luxuries available: induction stove top, kettle, drinking water from the tap, coffee, grinder, French press, pots and pans, cooler, dish soap, tea towels, drying rack - the sweetest camp kitchen; and of course, the outdoor shower with hot water! Thank you, Peter, for creating such a beautiful and nourishing space in nature. I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have found it.

We couldn’t be happier with our stay at The Smithy. The cabin was just what we were looking for on our trip back from Acadia NP. The cabin had everything we needed including an induction plate for cooking. Outdoor shower had hot water and privy was clean. The view from the deck and up the hill at the summit were fantastic. We will definitely be back. Thanks Peter.

This was a really beautiful, restful place and was better than expected. Comfortable bed in a cute cabin with everything we needed for cooking, washing and chilling. There’s an induction burner and charcoal grill. Composting outhouse was clean and comfortable. The shower had hot water and was relaxing and private. The property is expansive with lots of walking paths in the trees and in the field which leads to some nice views of the surrounding mountains. We picked wild blackberries and enjoyed fresh tomatoes the host was kind enough to offer from their garden. Cute swimming pond we didn’t use because it rained the whole trip for us. We had the entire property to ourselves but the host was very responsive to questions and messages. Close to a few small towns with farmer’s markets and breweries. Overall really lovely place at a great price and would stay again for sure
