Rustic work-in progress vibe. Very private and an epic view of the river. A hipcamp sign by the entrance to the driveway would have been helpful. 100% would stay there again.

We absolutely loved our time at this site! Had enough room for 2 families and a number of dogs! Right next to the river bed so we got to hear the water rushing down all through the night. Got a bit of rain, thunder and lightning our last night, but overall this will be an annual trip here going forward;

Prefect weekend right in the river!
Site #2 is awesome! Lots of room for the three families we had total at our site. Perfect place for the kids to explore the river side, great little shallow inlet to cool off in. The toilet was a bonus because the description of the site hasn't been updated! Great cell phone service. Site is mostly sun until about 5pm, but shade is to be found. Our group saw frogs, fish, snakes, bats, ducks, eagles, and herring (the bird). There is some relics of old buildings, but nothing that bothered any of us.
Site #1: Sauk River Camping
Sketchy entrance, fine campsite
The driveway into this site was a yellow flag we looked passed given the industrial warning in description. But a sign reading, “trespassers will be shot and survivors will be violated” is the opposite of the hospitality I’ve appreciated about my other hipcamp experiences. The actual site is large and pleasant. An unoccupied RV sites to one side. Easy access to the river!

Sweet spot
The spot is great and pretty private right next to the river. We were able to get some flyfishing and swimming in and a clean flushing toilet/outhouse had been installed right across the access road which was really convenient. We could easily access the river as the unofficial boat ramp was right next to our campsite.. There was a great spot for a hammock in between two trees, and we had plenty of room for three vehicles/tents and our gear. The folding table that had been left there for our use came in very handy! Someone had also left firewood and a water jug, which was thoughtful. We did have a little bit of trouble finding it as the map that is linked drops the pin a little bit further than where you turn on the main road. I recommend entering the address given directly into your GPS. Pay no mind to dead cars and scrap metal once you go past the black gate. Just follow the gravel road staying to the left until it turns into a sandy road. Site2 has the giant boulder and outhouse across from it.

We had such a great time! It was a nice, open area, with plenty of flat space for our tents Firewood and a folding table were provided at the site. Access to the river was easy, and the addition of a flush toilet was a pleasant surprise! Buster's is definitely going to become our go-to camping destination!
