Cabin · Sleeps 2
Ready for a rustic, mostly off-grid, nature retreat? Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. The cedar bungalow is a basic yet lovely accommodation on a 170 acre farm near the Missouri River Bottom. Explore the land, go on hikes, swim in the pond, and thank your lucky stars that you can get away and enjoy a rural destination away from it all. NO WIFI. MORE DETAILS Located 2 miles from the rural and tiny town of historic Hartsburg, your tiny cedar house has its own private driveway and sits at the base of our hilly and majestic family farm under a giant Sycamore tree. Park your car and take the wooden path to your front door, located just off your private front porch. (Or if you're coming by Bike on the Katy trail, ride the flat 1.6 miles from the Hartsburg access to our farm and park your bike!) Inside you’ll find a cozy queen bed with soft linens and extra pillows along with cool, retro bedside lamps (we love interesting lighting, and hope you will, too). Find some fun books to read, too, and some games to help you pass the time. A cozy kitchenette is complete with mini fridge for food storage, hot water kettle, and French press for making coffee or loose leaf tea. We provide the coffee! For cooking, we have an outdoor gas grill. We supply utensils for grilling as well as mugs, plates, and silverware so that you’re a definite step up from camping while enjoying your indoor/outdoor kitchen experience. The outdoor gas grill is your stove — unless you prefer to cook on an open fire, in which case we’ve got a fire pit nearby — with firewood available to purchase if you can’t bring your own or need more to keep the evening flames going! ;) The living room has seating for two. Dining seating for two. Games for fun! There is a very clean porto potty nearby for bathroom. There is also a spigot nearby for clean drinking and cooking water. We just built an outdoor shower for your convenience. NOTE: COLD WATER ONLY. It's not glamorous by any means, but it works! You can also swim in the pond or nearby beautiful Hart Creek to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels! Dog friendly - please inquire for pet policy. WILDLIFE Warmer months you'll surely encounter some of the resident tree frogs, birds, peregrine falcon, bald eagles, worms, Gary the groundhog, possums, snakes, armadillos, insects, dragon flies, bumblebees, lightning bugs, deer, wild flowers, trees, grass, turtles, fish and celebrity Justin Beaver. Katy Trail Access at Hartsburg is an easy bike along Hart Creek (1.6 miles away). PET FEE: Well-behaved pets are welcome with a fee (per pet) per stay. Please inquire about our pet policy.
