We are a family-run farm working to return the land we steward back to healthy balance. The barn was built in 1898 and the house in 1899 by 2 Olmstead brothers. The property has had orchard for much of it's homestead history, growing peaches, cherries and apples. There was cattle on the property at some point as well. We bought the farmhouse and 40 acres in 2017, from the 5th generation of Olmsteads to have lived here. The house had been left empty and in extreme disrepair. The property had been leased for the previous 12 years by a local apple producer. We have spent our first few years years rehabbing and renovating the farmhouse, intent to bring it back to as much of it's original beauty as possible, with some modern updates, as there was originally no electricity or indoor plumbing. We have largely let the land have time to heal and renew. We brought with us our goats, who cleared much overgrowth around the big barn and cottage. Our goal is sustainability through non-chemical, organic practices, that build and enhance biodiversity of ecosystems. We have had goats and chickens for 9 years. They are protected by our Livestock Guardians; Finntan & Eva. We have added ducks and plan to add sheep in the Spring of 2021, as well as cattle soon after. There are many things happening at Hibernian Farm, including our second year of organically grown apple sales & U-Pick and a farm market store in 2022. Keep an eye out and follow our Hibernian Farm Facebook page.

Orchard Camp
Beautiful property w/2 track roads
Wonderful host, beautiful property and cute little camping site. It rained from the time we arrived through the time we left. So, if you choose to camp here, I suggest a 4x4 or keep an eye on the weather. We almost got stuck as it was super wet, grassy and uneven terrain. Had to take an alternate 2 track that came out by their house to exit since we couldn't get back up the hill where we entered. I would camp here again but earlier in the season.

The orchard clearing was beautiful! Very private area with a great place for a tent and a built-in fire ring. Easy enough to pull a car in despite driving off-road for a bit. The hosts were great and willing to provide recommendations for the area as well!

Great little spot.
The Farm camp spot was such a relaxing little slice of heaven. We felt a million miles away from our lives but were only about 15mins away from so many things. Lots of restaurants around; we especially loved the new Ludington Meat Market. So fun and so delicious! We spent one day kayaking the Pere Marquette River at Henry’s Landing. The people there could not have been more lovely and it was one of the best days of the summer! Details of the site/tips: There is a bit of a walk to carry your things to the site. It’s short but a steep-ish hill on a narrower path so not sure if a wagon would work. We found this to be no problem but knew this in advance so we could pack accordingly. We just kept our gear simple and consolidated and had no problems. We had no problems with bugs, which was amazing! (Wish we could say the same for the brewery!) The outhouse was really nice and very clean. Great addition to the site. The firewood bundles are convenient and generously sized. Good to grab there. Carey and Jason were super nice. Great hosts and super responsive. Highly recommend this HipCamp site to explore Ludington and Pentwater areas.

Very private space. Great shade and plenty of space for a couple tents (not a lot of level ground, so could put more tents if one is ok with some uneven ground).

Cozy Farm Cottage
This is my first stay at Hiberian Farms and certainly won’t be my last. It offers the sweetest coziest cabin with farm sights and sounds. The cabin and amenities were outstanding and the hosts were absolutely amazing. Super friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about what the area offers and they can tell you where to catch the sunset in a secret location! We loved every minute.

Beautiful spot, incredible hosts
Carey and Jason are the consummate hosts. They went far above and beyond to make sure our time there was special. The Forest Camp is a stunning place. It's quiet, isolated, always shady, almost always has a breeze, and feels like a fairyland. We loved our time there and can't thank Carey and Jason enough for their hospitality and kindness.

Great for our quick stay!
We stayed here for a night instead of booking a hotel when we were going to Wisconsin on the SS Badger. Very simple to get to the Ferry. Food and State Park beach are nearby. The cottage was clean. The night breeze and crickets were awesome. Hosts were friendly and available if needed.

Sweet spot! Loved this campsite in the cherry orchard with beautiful view over the meadows. Great for stargazing and evenings by the campfire. Primitive campsite; water and firewood ($5, good quality) available at the farm. New and clean pit toilet a short walk away. Grassy lane leads to the mowed camping area; parking available next to the site. Near the highway for convenience to explore the area of Pentwater & Ludington. Hosts were warm and welcoming, and gave extra tips on beaches, food and hiking spots. Very cute farmstead!

Our stay was great! It was a little closer to the road than I would have liked but it was perfect for our dark sky park trip. Only an hour and a half from mackinaw city.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage! It was my first time visiting a working farm and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the family tend to the goats and ducks each day. The cottage was cute and just what we needed for our stay. At night we were amazed at just how clear the sky was and just how many stars we were able to see.

Loved this spot so much! It’s a hidden forest treasure tucked away. Super private with greenery in every direction you look! Feels so secluded but yet you are only about 10 minutes away from what you might need on your trip. The walk up to the site was a little bit challenging at times but it made it feel that much more remote. It was our first time in Ludington and the area did not disappoint. Beautiful location with such pristine beaches. We had a great time! The hosts were very helpful and friendly and we appreciated their recommendation for the little ones at Bass Lake Outlet. We spent our last relaxing day there enjoying what Lake Michigan has to offer. Thanks Carey and Jason!

Orchard Camp
Cozy, secluded camping
The Orchard site at Hibernian farm was a fantastic spot for a small group or couple. We loved the relative seclusion of the site given how close it was to Ludington. After making sure we were squared away, our hosts were the last people we saw for the duration of our stay :) The facilities were well-kept and clean, and the views of the night sky were unbeatable. We kept the rain fly off the first night and took in the scenery all night. We will definitely be back!

Camping at Hibernian farm was a pleasure! I was greeted upon arrival and given clear directions to the site as well as excellent recommendations for local activities and attractions. They have firewood bundles at the main house, which is extremely convenient, and reasonably priced. The site was well groomed, and easy on the eyes, and the outhouse was also clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking to spend some time in the area.

Fairytale Cottage!
This is an amazing place! We stayed with our 8 month old and were very comfortable. Plenty of space! The host is VERY helpful and responsive. While the cottage is near the house we really did feel we had all the privacy we needed. We stayed in December and were PLeNTy warm. We love a wood stove … having the propane heater for night time was a bonus. When we showed up the host already had it warmed for us with wood stove rumbling … was an amazing way to start our trip! The cottage is the perfect balance of “roughing it” with the comforts of the beautifully put together cottage. Comfy bed and furniture… fridge, electricity and electric kettle for coffee. This cottage really does feel like a fairytale with the orchard and animals as the backdrop.

Natural Bliss
This place was incredible. Sunrises that will blow your mind, gorgeous hills and trees, even the windwills were welcomed sights. The campsite area is pretty nice, mowed down area of grass so it's nice for a tent and the fire pit is great. Only thing to note would be the 2-track leading to the road is a little rough for low riding cars and if it's wet you'd want to have 4/awd. The hosts were super friendly, they even sent their children out on an atv to bring us firewood and some butter! 10/10 would recommend, we will definitely be visiting again and again.. and again

The site was private under a canopy of trees, the State Park we visited was just minutes away as well Silver Dunes. Our hosts were welcoming and friendly, the site was on the edge of the orchard with pretty sunrises and sunsets. We picked up some free range eggs from a local neighbor, along with some apples, honey, and maple syrup purchased at a stand right down the road. Some wild turkeys came nearby to visit. Just what we were lookung to do, get outdoors and out of the city, enjoyed it very much!

Camping like it used to be.
It was camping like it used to be. Lots better than the over-crowded, noisy, light-polluted state/fed. CGs. Very quiet and peaceful. Nice to sit back and watch the wind turbines slowly spinning. Plenty of open space for stargazing. Had to do a little maneuvering to get my 1 ton, LWB truck into the site, but should be able to park right in the 2 track in front of the site. Next time I'll use the beautiful wooded tent site a couple hundred yards away. Definitely recommended.
