Copper Moon is a very peaceful, bare bones, dispersed style campsite. Very quiet with decent views of the surrounding hills and desert near 29 Palms and Joshua Tree.
Memorable moments - seeing all the burned out meth labs along the dirt roads leading up to the site, and being visited by a desert fox while chilling around the campfire.
If you’re looking to rough it in or near Joshua Tree National Park and couldn’t reserve a site within the park then this is definitely a great spot to set up your shelter for the night. Also if you have a bigger group and don’t want to worry about disturbing other campers…you can probably get pretty loud here without a curfew.

Mostly as expected, patch of land with a few fire pits. Took the family out there to avoid the crowds of the National Park, so take the review with the context that I was with my wife, a 6 and a 3 year old.
Main bummer immediately was some janky, shady looking establishments within 500 yards. One looked insane with storage containers, tee pees and old vehicles everywhere. Another was just a burned down house, looked recent. And then your standard methy looking campers parked around. So didn’t feel as isolated or private as I was imagining. Then you’ve got people flying by on dirt bikes and pre-runner trucks from time to time.
Next bummer was broken glass throughout the spot and a couple of human or dog turds (maybe both?) I had to fling into the bushes before my kids walked barefoot or rode their bikes over them. Those weren’t off on the side, just right in the spot where’d you’d pitch a tent.
Then finally a car driving by at 2:30am, sitting and idling for 15 minutes about 50-100 yards away, voices and steps within earshot. Didn’t bring a gun so didn’t feel totally secure if someone decided to stroll up and start something in the middle of the night.
Also, check the weather, we had clouds so no visible stars and 20mph winds all day and night.
Communication was great, easy to find, but not much more than you get just pitching a tent at a dispersed site outside the park.

My stay at Copper Moon was fantastic! It was clean and spacious, with great mountain views and amazing stargazing, even under partially cloud skies. I was nervous about getting there in my Prius but if you go slow (10-15mph) and trust the directions sent by Jessica, you will arrive safely to this gorgeous campsite!
While the location itself is private, I did note surrounding camp sites. I heard neighboring campers / music and cars driving by the road. However, it wasn’t too bothersome and I felt it was quiet for the majority of my stay.
Overall, I enjoyed my time at Copper Moon and hope to visit again! Thank you Jessica for a wonderful experience!

We had a great experience at Copper Moon! The directions were easy to follow and we quickly found our site and set up camp. The site was clean and the campfire setups were appreciated! It’s a quiet area very distant from any real light pollution, and with our clear moonless night it was fantastic for stargazing! 10/10 would recommend!

We loved our stay on Jessica’s land. Although it’s close to the main road it’s very private and has many perfect flat spots to set up your tent. Felt so relaxed unwinding, after a nice hike at JTNP, under the stars. Definitely recommend!

What an incredible campsite! When I asked my kids how many stars they'd give it, they both said "10 million!" We camped as a family of four in our 4Runner with a rooftop tent, and this spot blew us away. The campsite is spacious, offering stunning views of both the mountains and the vast desert landscape. There’s absolutely zero light pollution, making it perfect for stargazing—I was even able to spot the Little Dipper and Venus shining brightly.
The property has multiple fire pits, but we opted to use our propane fire pit. We spotted a fox both nights, so keep your smaller pets close. The access road is a dirt path, and while high clearance isn’t necessary, some areas might benefit from a 4WD vehicle. The directions to the site are simple to follow, and we were only 25 minutes from the northern entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. Overall, a fantastic spot for a peaceful, scenic getaway!

check ur messages for helpful directions from host (including tip of heading there before sundown). the road is very very bumpy and dusty—make sure ur vehicle can handle loose dirt. the site was secluded! we had it to ourselves. there are lots of little fire pits. idk if there was a camping toilet.

Nice land in the middle of nowhere. Felt like we had our own private land. Wonderful views. Our VW Jetta sedan was kind of struggling on the way in, wish that would have been part of the description, but overall a really good experience. Kind of hard to find, wish it had a street address instead of just “Copper Moon Ln”.

We had THE BEST time here. The location is so far away from all the tourists and city lights. Felt so private! Other people’s properties could be seen in the distance, but still felt very secluded. The grounds were well kept and free from any trash or signs of previous guest. There were so many fun places to stop along the way which was awesome! It would be super hard to find in the night, but Jessica have great directions and we found it no problem in the day light. Can’t wait to book here in the future! We will be back.

A quiet little piece of desert land

What a beautiful, quiet place to spend a few nights! It’s all the peace and quiet of staying out on our own at a BLM without the hassle of trying to find one that’s not taken or worrying others will show up. Thank you for great communication and a magical little spot.

The campsite was very functional and spacious. It was nice being so secluded from everything but close enough to the park and the rock fire pits were cool! The directions were a little confusing at first but we managed. would book again!

Spot was empty desert very nice. No light pollution as stated, exactly what we were looking for, as it was private and i didnt have to listen to other campers. However its stated as pet friendly and luckily i brought boots for my service dog as there was broken glass surrounding the area, so beware for children and pets playing. Site clearly isnt maintained we luckily had a little shovel and it was no big deal to dig out the 2 feet of built up ash in the rock firepits, but something i expected to be done at a paid camp site. As far as the bucket toilet goes i have no priblem sitting on a bucket however i thung it would be better to just not have one at all if you arnt going to empty it between campers. However it was nice just on the lower par of maintence. Also not really sure what this place is or who we paid because according to google copper moon ranch at this address is Permanently closed.

There’s so much space on Jessica’s land to stretch your legs and explore. The closest campers are at least a 15 min. walk away, and even the dirt bikers that rode by never got close enough to where we felt uncomfortable. You’ll be surrounded by small mountain views and the stars are amazing at night. I don’t remember the last time I actually saw the milkiness of the Milky Way. We ended up extending our stay a little longer because we wanted to take our time leaving. It was the first time I’ve heard the kids say “I don’t wanna go home yet,” and we’ve gone to amusement parks and stayed in an all-inclusive resort before. Finally, the host was available and very accommodating to help with directions and extending our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here again. I would!

A lot of trash everywhere
There was a lot of trash on the site. The toilet was filled with trash and tied up bags near it. Burnt up boxed springs, a lot of broken glass everywhere, a broken ez up style frame was there behind the el crapper sign. The place is great for stargazing but unsafe due to all the broken glass everywhere.

This is the second time this year we stayed at this site. And I have to say my husband and I love it more each time we have gone! It is one of our new fave spots that’s close to our home. We went to see the meteor shower! And we sure did get a show! Thank you Jessica so so much! Again your site is beautiful and we totally enjoy the opportunity to spend time there!
