Buttermilk Falls State Park
Imagine 600 feet of water cascading gently into a shallow pool. Welcome to Buttermilk Falls.
Wander through a remarkable variety of landscapes at Buttermilk Falls. The main attraction is the 600-foot cascade of Buttermilk Creek. The falls get their name from the frothy appearance as water pours over the rocks.
The entirety of the park features 10 waterfalls in total. Hiking trails take you to each one. Gorge Trail, Rim Trail, and Bear Trail form a loop of about 3 miles. They bring you to Lake Treman Falls and Lake Treman, both of which offer beautiful scenery. Fall time is resplendent with Mother Nature's palette of orange, red, and yellow foliage.
There's more to do than just gape at 10 waterfalls. A beach lets you cool off in the summer. Pavilions and picnic benches offer respites for lunch and snacks. Bring your fishing gear to try to snag your dinner at Lake Treman or Cayuga Lake.
