Across Lake Washington from Seattle, Bellevue makes a good base if you want to be near Seattle but also want to be able to head east into more natural areas without having to fight traffic. There’s not much in town in terms of outdoor adventure, beyond boating on Lake Washington to the west of town and Lake Sammamish to the east. That said, you won’t have to go far to find some excellent hiking opportunities, particularly if you head southeast to Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park, Squak Mountain State Park Natural Area, and the Tiger Mountain State Forest.

It sits 30 minutes from the entrance to Olympic National Park with easy access to Staircase Trailhead and Campground. A quick hour and forty minutes from Seattle and you can watch orcas breach, salmon swim, and bald eagles fly! Our crew is kind, facilities clean, and amenities are quality. Brand new benches at each site that also fold to become a table! Amenities include beach access, barbecue facilities, coin operated laundry, hiking trails, observation decks, grassy meadow, a guest clubhouse with showers, and a boat dock. Guests also have access to a hot tub, a picnic gazebo, and a communal lounge. There are several different types of RV sites ranging from creekside, pull throughs, and water views. Drive in and enjoy a lovely view of unspoiled woods from the deck of your canvas tent. Enter the door into a spacious area with a king or queen size bed and small kitchen area. Each tent has its own heat source for your comfort. Each tent has its table right outside on the deck but it you are feeling social come enjoy our outdoor kitchen. We are open year round and It is different every season Our guests love staying here "This site has absolutely everything you need. You'll want to bring your own shampoo and conditioner, but I think that was the only things I noticed I'd want. They even had firewood for us, no extra charge! David, his wife, and everyone else that helps maintain the property were SO sweet and welcoming. Seems like it would be a lovely place to stay in the winter, so thats when I'd like to come back! 5 stars all the way for everything here, the thoughtfulness of the cabins, the cleanliness, the readily available kitchen and the hospitality. 1.5 acre plot located west of Port Townsend near Cape George and Discovery Trail. This forest meadow is a peaceful, private spot to rest and relax when you are not having adventures on the Olympic Peninsula. Perfect for RVs, Camper Trailers, Vans, and Tents! The entire property is rented as a single camp site, so there is maximum privacy and solitude compared to a multi-site venue like Ft Worden State Park. Green Acre Camp is located in a semi-residential, semi-rural area of unincorporated Port Townsend, only 10-15 min drive to main restaurants, grocery stores, and attractions of downtown Port Townsend. RV power pedestal with 30a, 50a, and standard 20a/120v plugs. Pack-in, Pack-out; there is no toilet, sink, or shower. Large vehicles/trailers/5th wheels are welcome! Enter the property on private dirt road connected to Hastings Ave and you may park anywhere in the upper field immediately on left when you enter the driveway. There is a locked shed that houses the well pump, and you can use the water spigot and hose. Water is potable lab tested. Property is shaped like a triangle with Hastings Ave. There is tree cover along Hastings and shared driveway at bottom edge of the triangle. As you continue down the driveway a few hundred yards, you approach neighbor's fence and property line. Main camp site is the “upper field” where there is room for parking and power/water connections. This is conveniently level with the main road and flat. There is “lower field” that is a trimmed grass field right corner next to the driveway, Finally the “back field” is large, grass field and a fire ring across the northern half of the property. The back field has an unused septic system underground, so we leave the grass and vegetation longer here to attract wildlife and preserve the infrastructure for potential future use. No vehicles allowed in back field. In the middle of the property is a grove of pine and cedar trees with thick, native salal bushes and rhododendrons crisscrossed with paths created by humans and the local deer population. Driveway is shared by neighboring property so wave and smile if our neighbors walk or drive out to the main road, and please be respectful of their property line and follow the local culture of 'live and let live'.

Hello! We have one RV space for rent for short stays. It sits at the end of our 1 acre property and looks over a beautiful flower farm. The pull through RV space is on asphalt and has a 50amp hookup and water hookup, but no dump. Our property is nestled in between a flower farm, blueberry farm and dairy farm, and backs-up to the Skykomish River. You get the out of town feeling while only being about 10min drive to downtown Monroe. I must note, besides the RV space, the rest of our property is for private use only.

Nice place to stretch your legs and unwind! The dogs appreciated the extra wiggle room. Only 8-10 mins into the heart of Port Townsend. As noted in the reviews before, the RV spit is right off the road and there is noise but we didn’t find it to be an issue.

Wonderful place with great sites that have all services available. Great family game area, pool table in the beautiful lobby and a hot tub that has great views of the Hood Canal. Our dog and I found a well established low impact trail that went quite a distance out into the woods with benches and a picnic table.

I couldn’t have planned a better weekend trip. The amount of fun my kids and I had was amazing. Great place to stay, I absolutely recommend it. There were lots of activities for my kids that were put on by the lodge as well as a movie and s’mores on the lawn on Saturday night. Can’t wait to come and do it again. We stayed in the Coho Cabins - what a luxury! Clean, upgraded, with every amenity you could think of, including a Nespresso. The park itself felt safe, with a nice spa-like hot tub with water views, great staff, and even games in the community area. Walk across the street to a deck with stunning views (you might even catch a glimpse of a seal) and a fairly quiet beach area. I spent many relaxing mornings on that deck. Only complaint is that the photos of the views from within the cabin are inaccurate - the cabins are stacked right next to each other, so there is no mountain or water view as advertised (just trees or the other cabins). Otherwise, such a nice experience.

We really enjoyed this unique campground. It was exceptionally clean (I noticed they checked each site after a camper left and power washed the pad). The staff was very kind and helpful. The hiking trail behind the campground was really great and almost surreal! Our pup loved it! We will definitely be back soon!

Beautiful spot amongst the trees to camp. Only downside is you are right off of a well travelled road so you do hear vehicles going by pretty consistently. Lots of room to play fetch with the dog - he loved it! If you are in a trailer (like us) could only park at the site closest to the road because the lower area was blocked off with logs. Water and power worked flawlessly. Even with the road noise, it’s sooo much better than a campground cause you have the whole space to yourself!!! Even got to see an owl!! Would definitely stay here again.

Such a great place to stay. Enjoyed the deck across the way on the dock and the deck next to the dog park area. We even got a little hike in on the trail to the back of the campground. Would stay again but have a car to get around. We came in a class A RV, not able to walk from there to restaurants, parks or anything. Beautiful views and well kept, showers were super clean and laundry room was tidy. Thanks for the great stay!

Where to go

Around Lake Washington

There are plenty of spots worth checking out in the Lake Washington area, both in Bellevue and in nearby cities. Lakefront parks worth checking out include Seattle's massive Seward Park and the similarly sized Saint Edward State Park on the northeastern shores of the lake. If you want to fish, head north to Kirkland, where there are lots of public piers (just make sure to get a license first).

Mount Rainier National Park

Featuring miles of hiking trails, fantastic rock climbing, and a bounty of colorful springtime wildflowers, Mount Rainier National Park is ideal for both day trips and overnight stays. There are four campgrounds in the park, and while they're only open seasonally, there are a few private spots in the area where you can camp year-round.

Leavenworth

East of Bellevue in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest sits one of Washington's quirkiest destinations: Leavenworth. Modeled after a Bavarian town, complete with hand-painted signs, timber-beam facades, and a beer garden, this popular tourist destination draws in wintertime crowds with its annual Christmas market and light display. Year-round camping is available in the nearby Lake Wenatchee State Park.

When to go

There's plenty to do in Bellevue throughout the year, from a summertime art fair to the annual Bellevue Jazz & Blues Music Series, held every October. The weather here is temperate, and while winters are mild, the region gets a ton of rain from late autumn well into spring. If outdoor activities are on your radar, it's wise to come in the summertime, when highs are usually in the mid- to upper-70s and there's generally not too much rainfall.
