Evensong Farm is a preserved historic farm adjacent to the Antietam National Battlefield. We have set up two, almost identical, sites on a 60 acre parcel of our farm which is very private for our campers, but allows access to the lovely Antietam Creek. The sites themselves are about 500 feet apart so, while they maintain privacy when booked by different parties, can also be booked together for group stays.
We have been hosting campers at our "glampsites" since 2021. Each off-grid site has a 12x16 platform with a 10x12 canvas side wall tent, a firepit and chairs, a cooking area with a grill and sink for washing up, a picnic table and benches, and a private bathroom with a composting toilet and solar shower bag. The main tent is set up for 2 people, although 4 is possible. The sites can handle a max of 12 people, with the use of additional tents (BYO or you can set up some of ours). We provide an electronic camp guide to all of our campers that include our recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as camping tips and other handy info.
Inside the tent you will find a queen size bed, side tables, and a cafe table and chair set. We have put down foam flooring and a carpet for your comfort and provide numerous battery powered lights, lanterns and fans. In cold months we can add a propane heater to keep the chill away. We also have some games, maps of the area, decks of cards, and a fire extinguisher.
Stepping outside the tent you'll find our long rainfly creates a covered porch where you can relax on our provided chairs. There are additional chairs around the firepit and each firepit has a cooking grate so you can cook over your campfire. We provide one bundle of firewood (including kindling) per night with your reservation. We do sell additional firewood, if needed.
In our kitchen area you will find a picnic table and chairs, 5 gallons of drinking water, a clean up table that includes a foot operated pump sink with an additional 5 gallons of washing water, a grill (one site has propane and the other has charcoal), trash and recycling bins, grill tools, lighters, plus dish and hand soaps.
Our farm is a mile and a half from the town of Sharpsburg, MD, home of the Antietam National Battlefield (and Nutter's Ice Cream Shop). You will find the Appalachian Trail to our east and the C&O Canal to our west (10 minute drive to either).

- What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ?
The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it).
- CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees.
- SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to.
- RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response.

We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.

Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive.
Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing.
Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support!

Each site has varying access to the creek, so check out the site details. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away.
The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mountain views in the background. It's on the opposite side of the lake from the Cedar Sites. This site has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. It's a delicate site, so the accommodations and group size is strictly limited.

We are 10 minutes from the Potomac River, 10 minutes from Opequon Creek, 20 from Antietam Creek and 30 minutes from the Shenandoah River. Harper's Ferry is 30 minutes way and downtown Historic Shepherdstown is just down the road.
We are also close to several state parks.
- What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ?
The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it).
- CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees.
- SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to.
- RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response.

- Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

All sites now have either 10x13, 13x20 or 16x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay.
Throughout the summer, the river offers a user-friendly experience as water levels recede. Embark on float trips, kayaking, excellent fishing, swimming, cave exploring, or visit the historic towns and the Antietam Battlefields nearby for a touch of civilization during your stay.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.

30 acres of mostly reclaimed farmland. We are located where Glade Creek flows into the Monocacy River. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive.
Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing.
Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support!

The ranch comprises 40 acres of lowland acreage designated for the camp, including a 5-acre lake.
The Cedar Grove sites 1, 2, and 3 are along the banks of Passage Creek located within a sparse, groomed Cedar grove. They are all a short walk (or drive) to the lake and beach amenities. Each site has varying access to the creek, so check out the site details. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away.
The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mountain views in the background. It's on the opposite side of the lake from the Cedar Sites. This site has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. It's a delicate site, so the accommodations and group size is strictly limited.

Locally, the North end of Fort Valley offers many great hiking trails, trout fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the Elizabeth Furnace day-use park. You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house.
We are native plant enthusiasts and are fortunate to have many native species of trees and plants on our property. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby.
We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends.

Eric was awesome. Friendly and very welcoming, he gave us a chance to set up (big group) and then stopped by to welcome us and make sure we knew where everything was including The Wall with facilities, maps and just a great spot to wash up for supper. We camped L spot but they all looked great. L spot was perfect for my family and gave everyone something they loved from the kayaks, Jon boat, a large pond and a great creek. Falling asleep to the mountain spring fed pond was just everything. Thanks for sharing your beautiful property and just being a very warm and welcoming dude.

My wife, 2 boys and I stayed Sat. and although we had to pack up at night because little man was to cold, we would definitely be back. Matt met us and showed us where everything was and had the campsite cleaned and ready for us loaded with fresh cut firewood. We will definitely be back in the spring. Directions were easy to get to it. Nice 5 minute walk to the river also.

Absolutely amazing spot, and the camp kitties made the experience twice as fun. DOUBLE CHECK THE ADDRESS. I used the "get directions" button and it took us to the wrong side of the river, which was .3 miles from the spot and a 30 minute drive all the way around. Greg is super nice and the nearby cave and canal was so fun. Maryland heights is a great hike in the area!

We had a great time at Taylor's landing! Excellent views and access to the Potomac and to the C&O canal towpath. The spot has everything you need including fire pit, picnic tables, and even porta potties! There were other campers nearby but we would have hardly noticed if we weren't told they were there. Easy to access, but Greg met us at the site and told us about the area and provided trash bags. Would definitely stay again!

This was a beautiful site situated right on the river that felt completely private. John was readily accessible for anything we needed and was friendly and helpful in recommending some local hikes. There’s a beautiful area with a fire ring, chairs, and picnic table overlooking the river that guests are welcome to use. Unfortunately we chose a rainy weekend but it didn’t dampen our spirits at this lovely location. 100% recommend!

We had a great time here and would absolutely come back. The property is spacious with lots of spots to set up, which makes it especially great for a group trip where everyone wants a bit of room to spread out.
If you’re planning to camp by the creek, 4-wheel drive is a must. The terrain is no joke, but totally worth it once you’re settled.
There are large piles of wood for use, just bring an axe or proper saw for firewood, they came in very handy for us to get pieces down to size for our jack stove.
Electric hookups were clutch during our stay. It was overcast the whole time, so our solar panels were basically useless. If your device can’t sit directly on a ledge near the outlet, bring an extension cord. You’ll thank yourself later.
Temps dropped down to 11 degrees, and we were impressed that the pump water didn’t freeze at all and tasted great. Big win for cold-weather camping.
One heads-up on site selection: the spot by the firepit and picnic table is convenient, but it’s close to the road, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for something more tucked away.
There’s no cell service for Verizon down by the creek, so plan accordingly. If you need connectivity, Starlink is the move.
Overall, a solid stay with beautiful surroundings and wildlife, and plenty of flexibility depending on how you like to camp. Just come prepared and you’ll have an awesome experience.

Tons of walking trails to discover, friendly fishermen, but Levi's hospitality is really what made this trip. He helped us figure out our camper, went out of his way to help us fix our truck, and gave us a tour of his farm! Host Levi was incredibly nice and welcoming. He stopped by later in the afternoon to check in and see if we needed anything, which was really appreciated.
I loved the campsite—it was clean and had plenty of room for our tent. You can park directly at your site, making unloading and loading camping gear extremely easy.
I didn’t do any fishing during my stay, but fishing is available if that’s something you’re interested in. Just a small heads-up—fishermen may walk past your campsite.
What I loved most about this place was the sound of the creek. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing, especially after a long day.
I would absolutely come back to Levi’s campsite again.
