We have 7+ very private acres along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, which has been in our family for over 50 years and where we currently live. You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby. We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends. Three night maximum permitted. **Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. If you plan to wade, fish or swim in the river, you may want to bring some sturdy shoes to wear in the river.Pitch your tent on a large 11x12’ platform only a few feet from the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Enjoy peace and quiet, great fishing, kayaking and tubing, or just playing in the river. Complete privacy while camping, with small extra fees for use of our outdoor shower, kayaks and tubes and/or a shuttle up river (information on site).

A Quiet Oasis
Mary and John's property is off the beaten path but so close to downtown Strasburg which is too cute! The site is easily accessible (they had a wagon, flashlight and lanterns waiting for our after dark arrival!) and accompanied us to the site - giving us a quick run down of everything! The camp site is clean and sits quietly next to the North Fork River. We were in the area to visit Shenandoah which is close (depending on where you are wanting to enter/hike!) I cannot express how kind and welcoming Mary & John are - I would 10/10 recommend staying at their site - we will definitely be back!

Along the River
This was a great single spot along the river. Deck for pitching your tent is perfect, although our 8x8 with screened entrance barely fit. You're down the trail enough to be away from anyone but not such a long walk as to have to hike to it. They have a wagon to bring your stuff down to the campsite ++ for that. Great shower available after a hot day hiking. John-n-Mary are great hosts, as is Cooper(Black-Lab). We would stay again for sure.

North Fork River Retreat
We had an amazing time on the river. In the late afternoon we put our tubes in the water right next to our site and didn't see one other person the whole evening. The next morning John drove us up the river and we floated back toward our campsite, which would have been perfect if the river was deeper (Mary was nice enough to warn us before we came that the river was unusually shallow). John and Mary were so accommodating and helped us with everything we needed, but the actual campsite was very private. We can't wait to come back!

North Fork River Retreat
Wonderful experience!
My son and I had a wonderful time at North Fork retreat! I am so glad we chose this place for our 2 night camping trip. Mary and John could not have been more hospitable. They greeted us so warmly and made sure we had everything we needed. I couldn’t have asked for better hosts. The property is absolutely beautiful and we spent most of our time out on the river, which was teeming with wildlife and natural beauty. This is truly a little oasis. As a woman traveling alone with my young son, I felt totally safe and comfortable here. John and Mary’s super friendly black lab Cooper, was an added bonus and we enjoyed his visits to our campsite! The only thing we will do differently next time is add an extra night to our stay as both of us were a little sad to leave!
