Camp Cedar Creek

We loved camping here! Site 2 is right on the creek, spacious, and private except for the kind fly fishermen and women coming through in the daytime. David was kind and accommodating - we would be happy to be hosted by him again in the future. Great bugs and amphibians for those interested. :)

David is a great host and we always enjoy staying at Cedar Creek! The stream is crystal clear and it's great being able to set up camp so close. This was our third time staying and we will definitely be back!

David is a great host and his land is a nice little spot of both ruggedness and beauty! The water is super clean. Like other reviewers, you would preferably want a 4x4 car with enough clearance - that was part of the fun for us. The sites have good spacing from others. Highly recommend.

We loved camping at Camp Cedar Creek. Several of the sites (4 of 5) are directly along the creek. None of the sites are too close together, but we stayed at site 2, which was even more separate. All are decently large sites with room for several tents, a fire pit (with grate) and picnic table. The camp has a port-a-potty and cold shower if you need it ;) David was a great host - very responsive and helpful. We had a lovely relaxing stay!

Our 2nd time here and it’s even better than the 1st. Just love how secluded and private each camp site is. Being right next to the creek is so soothing. The porter potty is really clean! 4x4 is def needed if you want to access you tent site, but David also offers to drive our stuff in with his truck. Fire wood available is so convenient as well. Can’t wait to return!

Site 4 - Camp Cedar Creek

Our first time using HipCamp and first time camping with kids and it was a success! David was an amazing host and his property is spectacular and clean. The location is very accessible from the DC area and was easy to find. Enjoyed a beautiful yet easy hike on the Tuscarora trail and spent a few hours with the kids fishing and hunting for crawfish. Highly recommend and will return.

Labor Day weekend 2025 was our sixth trip to Dave’s land. Our annual trek to Cedar Creek has become a tradition our whole family looks forward to all year long. Dave is an excellent host, he is communicative and makes sure that we are comfortable throughout our stay. The sites have a lot of privacy, access to the creek, and plenty of space to set camp. We highly recommend this spot!

This site was conveniently located near to Shenandoah National Park. Must follow directions to get to property! Apple Maps does not take you the right way automatically. Our camping site was clean and remote. Easy access to firewood from host and a short walk from the bathroom and trash can. My CRV did get stuck on the mud but our host was very kind and available to help tow me out. Be very careful with your clearance at this site. Strongly recommend sticking to the general parking area.

A really beautiful place to disconnect and forget of the everyday life, well at least for a bit, Mr. David is an excellent host, this place is a hidden gem for me and I bet for a lot of people that had stayed in this campgrounds, place its always clean, and if you are planning to book it for the first time please keep it clean.

David’s property is a wonderful place to spend some time. Cedar Creek is wonderful. Given the time of year I wasn’t expecting much fishing-wise, but it was wrong. The fish were definitely biting, which was fun and a great excuse to splash around in the water. The campsite was quiet and secluded. Couldn’t ask for more. Josh led is to the site and explained the work that has been to enhance the bird and trout environment. Excellent work!! I highly recommend this camp site.

Shady & large, right on the creek

We had a fantastic time at Camp Cedar Creek! David was a fabulous host and the site was great. He answered all of my questions and was friendly and accommodating with them all. Site 2 was right on the creek and we managed to find 3 fairly flat spots to set up tents. There were lots of trees that provided plenty of shade and we were able to hang up 5 hammocks. There were two fires pits, one was quite large and had a grate to lay over the top for cooking. Friends that were with us were amazed at how nice and secluded the area was, it was their first time experiencing Hipcamp camping. I saved this one so we can come back again some time.

David was amazing in helping us get there, and making sure we were set up at the site. He gave us a small packet of everything to do in the area and really cared to make sure we had a good experience. Site was huge and creek was perfect for putting some camp chairs in to hang out during the day. Great weekend!!

Lovely Weekend by the Creek

My parents and I stayed at site 3. The access to the creek was lovely and the sound of the water was perfect to fall asleep to. As many have mentioned, David was kind enough to transport our things from our car to the site then arrange time to bring them back to our car for us on the last day of our stay! Our car didn’t have enough clearance. The site was spacious and private. We enjoyed the fact that there were other campers around but each site had a lot of privacy. We didn’t use the shower but the port-a-potty was clean and made our experience more comfortable. We rented camping cots from David and it was probably the best sleep I’ve had camping. We did place mattresses on top of the cots. It was my parents’ first time camping in over 25 years and they were very happy with the experience! We’ll be back again - maybe with some fishing poles next time. The creek is stocked with trout and we’d love to try fishing there. I highly recommend David’s campground for those looking for a peaceful retreat to the woods!

Amazing spot right on the river!

RIGHT ON THE RIVER: This is such a great camping spot - right on the river where you can float, swim, and listen to the running water at all times of the day in the cleanest water I’ve seen in the DMV. PLENTY OF SPACE: The campsites were the largest I’ve ever seen, plenty of privacy (we didn’t hear another person or car the entire time) & room for tents and trucks (we had 3 tents, 8 people, and 3 4x4s - I would only drive into the sites with 4x4s, although there is general parking a 5 minute walk from the sites). The outhouse was spotless and I couldn’t believe how clean it was. Fire-pit was large and well-maintained, and picnic table was exactly what we needed. BREEZY AND PLENTY OF SHADE: We went in the middle of July, but the shade and river made it truly perfect, where we were not overheated in 90 degree weather, especially throughout the night. NOT BUGGY: Bugs next to the river were not bad at all, recommend bug spray, but as someone who has a very low bug/mosquito tolerance, I was very pleased with only two bites the whole weekend. RESPONSIVENESS: David was so pleasant and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed and went out of his way to get us settled in and answer our questions over the Hipcamp chat all weekend. WILDLIFE: We saw 30 ducks floating down the river at once (super cool to see), crawdads, and butterflies. Really got the whole nature experience. We will definitely be back, our new favorite spot in the DMV area!!!

we have a great experience in the peaceful creek, and it was fantastic. The sound of the water at night made for the most relaxing sleep, and the tent itself was sturdy and kept us perfectly dry even with the morning mist. 5 Star Host & Wonderful Weekend

Incredible weekend at Camp Cedar Creek! We stayed at Site 2, right on the creek. It was spacious, private, and surrounded by towering trees perfect for hammocks. There are two fire pits, a picnic table, and plenty of room to relax. David was an amazing host, greeting us on arrival, having firewood for sale, and making sure we had everything we needed. He’s just a text away and genuinely loves sharing this special place. We spent our days swimming in the creek, spotting crawdads and owls, and even saw a black bear from a distance! Tips: Bring water shoes or tevas for the rocky creek and boots for the muddy trail! Can’t wait to come back!

My husband, dog, and I had a great weekend camping at Cedar Creek! We did battle some rain + thunderstorms that gave us a challenge (we were prepared for them in the forecast), but the hot sunny afternoons relaxing in the refreshing water (which was super clean and we used it as a water source with our filters) with a cold drink made it all worth it. Our dog also loved wading in the water, gave her the perfect way to cool off. The spot felt remote and we loved listening to the sounds of nature. We even saw a few Bald Eagles! Watching the crawdads in the creek was also very fun. David was very welcoming and communicated very well. He’s incredibly knowledgeable of his land and the surrounding area - even gave us recommendations on some happenings in town! He also kept us updated on the weather and any potential for flash flooding which was extremely helpful.
