Creekside camping on Cedar Creek, one of the cleanest creeks in America. You'll be surrounded by beautiful scenery with a fire pit at each site. Enjoy birdwatching, wood turtles, wood ducks, eagles, hawks, blue crane, and other wildlife.  Cell phones optional! Take day trips to wineries, farm markets, orchards, historic sites, and more. Enjoy fishing, hiking, National Forest, biking, solitude and nature. Outdoor shower and port-a-john on site. Cornhole boards, firewood and load-in assistance available upon request for a small fee.  Nearby attractions include fishing, hiking, swimming, wineries, biking, orchards, Skyline Drive, and GW national forest. The oral history of Coal Mine Hollow has it that a moonshine still once graced the banks of Camp Cedar Creek. It was run by a recluse, who was always on the move from the Revenuers. A revenuer went missing along Cedar Creek one moonlit night, never to be seen again.  The bearded recluse who ran the still, owned two mules, and an old car frame without a motor. Those mules would pull him through the hollow, and up into the mountains, where the revenuers never found him. Some say on a cold, moonlit night, they’ve seen his two old mules, pulling an old car frame past Camp Cedar Creek.

Site 2 - Camp Cedar Creek
Great for families!
David was a great host! We arrived later than expected and David really helped us move our things to the site so we could get set up before nightfall. He checked in on us as needed and we were able to get more water from his place. We had site 1, 2 and 4. We are definitely returning. For kids and families wanting to be right next to the creek, site 1-3 is perfect. It is safe for kids to explore. They found all sorts of wildlife and had blast.

Site 1 - Camp Cedar Creek
Great for littles ones and families
David was truly wonderful. He came down when we arrived late to help us get situated. The creek was shallow enough for little ones and big enough for the bigger kids. The kids played in the creek the entire time. They caught lots of crayfish, minnows and snails. They saw turtles and birds and snakes. We will be back!

Site 3 - Camp Cedar Creek
Large comfortable camp site
David (the host) was fantastic. Our site was very large and flat with tall trees providing a lot of shade. We pitched 3 tents, hung 4 hammocks, and had a large fire circle we all gathered around to cook and hang out. This site is perfect for families with small kids or any big group. David made sure we had wood for the fire and water in the showers every day. We will definitely go back!

Site 3 - Camp Cedar Creek
Excellent large camp sites
David (the host) is fantastic! When I booked he called me right away to recommend the best spot for our family. This place has fantastic very large campsites. Perfect for families including small children. The creek is beautiful and refreshing. Great fire space and plenty of tent spaces. Showers and toilets are primitive but available. You will not be sorry to camp here. We wish we could have stayed just a bit longer.

Site 1 - Camp Cedar Creek
Remote, quiet, beautiful
This is an opportunity to have privacy and quiet, even though there are other camps in the area. The toilets and shower are primitive, which was fine for outdoors camping. We did without them (brought in our own water and used a shovel.) The stream water was cool, even during a heat wave. There is ample room at Site one for multiple tents without crowding one another. We enjoyed it even more alone. Since we had the stream to ourselves, we could even skinny dip with no worries at all. (Not always an option, I would think, but due to the heat wave only Site 5 had other people on it.) Dave was very accommodating and a good host. He will offer help for those with vehicles too low-slung for the road by packing their gear in and out of the camp area to the common parking. So our co-camper in the Corolla had options; we were fine in a RAV4.
