The land is as good as everyone says it is. An AWD car with some clearance and good tires are definitely needed for some of the gravel inclines. My Mazda cx5 did just fine. The sunset view from the cliff site is phenomenal.

This was such a wonderful site snd the hosts were so amazing! The site itself has an excellent firepit lined with rock bricks, so it’s very blocked from the wind and safe. There’s also a grill, as ash bucket, a trash bucket, four benches and a table with four chairs. The area is so peaceful, you can’t hear any cars or roadways, and the large open area in the middle of the trees is perfect for star gazing:) The hosts themselves are very kind; Phil came to check on us and gave us great information about the local area. Then, when our car battery died, Phil came to jump it, no problem. Such a lifesaver! We would definitely come back to explore the nearby area and stay here again:)

I really enjoyed the site it was spacious. The trail was really nice, gave me a sense of connecting with nature. I just wish that there was a large growth of trees or bushes to separate the area from the subdivision that was across from it. Yes, I would go back again but I probably would get the other site that's further up in the woods. I enjoyed hearing the chickens early in the morning and they did come to visit me while I was on site. Thanks for having me.

We absolutely loved our stay at Victoria and Phil’s campsite. It felt very secluded despite being 10 minutes away from hiking trails, breweries, and wineries. The campsite was clean and well equipped with benches, a table, a fire pit, and a charcoal grill. The farm fresh eggs were delicious! We heard the dogs barking as mentioned in the site listing, but it sounded very far off and never bothered us. We will definitely be staying here again!

This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays.

Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. Through our extensive RV travels, we have experienced a variety of campgrounds, which inspired us to create a unique site that caters to the needs of RV owners and tent campers alike. Our campground features thirteen RV spots, each named after one of the original thirteen colonies, complete with individual water, electricity, and sewage hook-ups. We accommodate both 30 and 50 amp connections, ensuring a comfortable stay. Additionally, we offer 10 overflow spots equipped with water and electricity. For tent campers, we provide ample open and shaded areas, perfect for singles, couples, or larger gatherings, all just a stone's throw from the water.
