We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

There are many parks, conservation reserves and nature trails to hike nearby. Your can bike along farm roads in the area and find places to have your picnic lunch. Forgot some supplies , within 3 short miles are many shops, services and resturants, many deliver. Several varieties of wildlife are in the area: you will spot eagles, white tail deer, racoons, wild turkeys and red fox, to name a few, while you stroll, bike or drive throught the area. Stop at the many creeks and enjoy the vibrant sounds of the bubbling waters; fish, frogs , turtles, blue heron and the many critters who habitate the waters. For birders there are over 75 species of birds within a short walk. During changes of seasons you can often see many birds in flight migrating to far away places. Bring your binoculars and camera. For you shop and antique explorers, just a short drive to the Delaware River are quaint villages only 10 miles away: Lambertville, New Hope and Frenchtown. Nearby is the Batona Trail, the Franklin Parker preserve, canoeing on Chatsworth Lake or the Wading River, bicycling through the Pine Barrens and and the cranberry bogs on the bicycle lanes on Routes 532 and 563, the quaint village of Chatsworth also known as the Capital of the Pines, Hot Diggidy Dog a food stand within the village of Chatsworth, and Brendan Byrne State Forest which includes the historic cranberry farming village of Whitesbog where the cultivated blueberry was developed by Elizabeth White and Dr. Frederick Coville. The Whitesbog Preservation Trust which manages the village has an extensive year round calendar of events.

Maple Shade Farm sits on an idyllic 60-acre property adjoining roughly 1,200 permanently preserved acres of mixed farmland and forests known as St. Michael’s Farm Preserve. Our farm is home to a variety of farm animals, including horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and honeybees. We offer English riding instruction suitable for riders of all skill levels, including adults and kids (ages 2+), western trail rides for individuals and couples, and opportunities for short guided "meet and greets" with the farm animals. The land is also beautiful and relaxing and surprisingly private given the short walk into town! Stay here and enjoy the sounds of nature, meet the animals, and get a feel for life on a farm or explore local towns, grab a bite to eat, and head back for a campfire in the evening. We have a little something for everyone. :)

Whether you're kayaking the Great Egg Harbor River near Ocean City, hiking the Appalachian Trail in Wawayanda State Park, or exploring the vast woods of the Pinelands, you'll have plenty of places to park your RV. Summers are best spent at the beach, and New Jersey has 130 miles of white sand beaches and coastline along the Jersey Shore to choose from. Head to resort towns like Cape May and Point Pleasant to be in the thick of things or escape to the Delaware Bay and Island Beach Beach Park for a more secluded experience. Look for cherry blossoms in Newark and wildflowers in Parvin State Park in the spring and fall colors in the Spruce Run Recreation Area. Few New Jersey state parks offer hookups, and amenities are usually seasonal, but look to New Jersey RV parks for year-round access, full hookups, and amenities such as pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, and wifi.
