This was my second time staying at the Pines site, and it did not disappoint! You feel like you are in the deep woods, secluded and private. Heather was so so nice and welcoming to us when we arrived and walked us through everything that we might need during our stay. The site was great, super private and our dog was able to roam free and explore which he absolutely loved. We unfortunately had to cut our trip short one night but Heather was so nice and offered us a free night for sometime in the future. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Matthew‘s cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Even though it was cool w/ a bit of rain here & there, the stove kept us warm. Plenty of trails to explore. And the breakfast sandwiches at the general store made it onto my Top 3 Breaky Sandwiches of All Time list, which is robust. Great time all around

Weekend Trip to Pine Cone Cabin

We had a great night away at the pine cone cabin! We arrived during a picturesque snow storm that was perfect for snowman building. The cabin took a little while to warm up, but once the wood stove got roaring we were sweating and stayed toasty all night. Wood for the stove was available for purchase on site ($6 a bundle) and we only needed one for the night and morning. The lights and hot plate were great accommodations and made cooking yummy camping meals a breeze. The loft was great. It easily fit our queen sized air mattress with my son’s camping pad on one side, our baby’s travel bassinet on the other and still had lots of room for our bags. Bonus that it is carpeted! We hope to come back again soon!

I just spend two nights at Shrek's cabin and it was just what I needed- easy to get to, yet somehow remote and quiet at the same time! I'm sure it would be even more fun in better weather, but better weather probably means more "visitors" and that's not what I was looking for on this trip.

Adirondack Rustic Retreat

As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war. It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well. All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings. There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest. Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since. Campsite numbers available this year will be Site2 which is left, we are planning to OPEN second site which will be on the right side, Site1, when it is finished. In the middle of Summer, you can ask about it. Only 1 site is open, Site2, on the entire land at this time. This year we have changed a few things and we have added some changes hoping to improve every year and we hope you have a wonderful time here on our beautiful land that we are very blessed to share and enjoy, with you our Hip camp, friends! We have it as a 10-to-15-minute Walk in depending on where you park, for vehicles with no 4x4. We are requiring 4x4 and some clearance to be able to drive up to the site. Wood is FREE off the land; we suggest bringing wood for the first campfire especially if it has been raining. You can look for firewood on our land and we have it available where we Meet and Greet. Arnold's grocery, is a small mom and pop store with 375 different kinds of beer, wood, and local art. Maple fields grocery store and Stewart's stores also has gas, grocery, wood, and both have restrooms. And just to be extra safe when we meet and greet to show a group down to the river, we will be staying at least 6 feet apart and not shaking hands be smart, be safe. We want you to be able to experience nature to its fullest.

The Coop!

Located at the end of a dirt road, quiet with views of Killington/Pico and Salt Ash Mountain. Its a 15 min drive from Okemo/Ludlow, 10min drive from the Appalachian trail (7.9 mile walk) and there are 3 other Ski resorts within an hour of us as well as numerous lakes and hiking trails. Just 2 miles up the road is Star Lake and the quaint town of Belmont. Our 7 acres sits on the Northside of Belmont hill. Half of it is open with several gardens to meander through. There is a pergola filled with kiwis and wisteria and a hammock for lounging. A shady grape arbor filled with white grapes that we have made wine with. On property we have a tree fort, greenhouse, chickens and pigs. We do provide fresh eggs for sale. There is a medium pond in the back for swimming, a large fire pit for fires and but the Hip Shack comes with its own fire pit/grill combo. Wood bundle's are also available. There is a rudimentary outdoor toilet and shower. The shower can be filled with hot water using the faucet by the garage. All water from hoses, pump hoses and faucets is the same drinkable well water, collected from the many underground springs that also feed into the pond.

In the summer season, several organic farmstands and local picturesque swimming holes range between 5-15 minutes away. Autumn's glorious show is on display everywhere you look. Winter offers easy access to groomed VAST trails in the field behind the house and studio. Hopkins Center, AVA Gallery, the Lebanon Opera House, Northern Stage, and a wide array of restaurants are within 20 minutes. The Lyme bridge is now open, so there are more restaurants, trails, activities and the Dartmouth Skiway! Despite the proximity to town and even to my home, the simple studio space is serene in its sumac baby forest.
