Our yurt has a loft where you can climb the ladder to a queen-sized bed. Or you can sleep on the full-sized futon on the main floor. We closed in half of the area under the loft for the bathroom, including a flush toilet, sink and shower. Please note there is a folding privacy screen but no door to the bathroom. Please note that the Yurt is about seventy five feet from our house on a working tree farm in a rural - residential neighborhood. We are generally very quiet and you will have all the privacy you desire. We do have a young daughter that likes to play outside in our yard, we do occasionally run tools and equipment and there is occasional road noise. If you are looking for a true wilderness type experience away from it all, this likely isn't the best option for you.

Metta Earth Institute (MEI) is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. With 158 beautiful acres, we are nestled in a bowl of mountains with stunning mountain views in all directions. Meadows, pastureland, and horticultural fields are interspersed with hardwood and evergreen forest, old orchards, stonewalls, seasonal streams, and an enormous variety of wildlife habitat. MEI is based on a small-scale diversified, organic, and biodynamically oriented farm with an acre-sized retreat garden and other herb and flower gardens, and 2 food producing greenhouses. We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices.
Main House Front Porch
The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices.
You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here.
Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone.
We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls.
We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We provide amattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September.
If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

Camping is provided by and in support of the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center, a 501 3C non-profit company. Located in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest, the Outdoor Center provides access to the Blueberry Hill network of trails, the Vermont Long Trail, The Catamount Trail, and the Moosalamoo National Forest Trails.
All campsites are located at the edge of the field behind the Outdoor Center. We have hot/cold outdoor showers as well as restrooms in the Outdoor Center. For more information, visit our website at blueberryhilltrails dot com.
While there is an internet connection near the buildings, it may not be available at your site. Cell service is limited at best. You can drive your car right up to your site. Sites are a good distance apart. Site 1 and the Bed in the Shed are the most private. Site two is quite open and supports trailers.
For your campfire, you can forage for wood or request "bundles" (about a dozen hunks of wood) by the morning of your arrival, and we'll have it delivered to your site. Please note, wood from outside Vermont is not permitted.
Step outside your tent and you'll find a wealth of hiking, biking, and running trails. As stewards of these trails, your camping fees help support the efforts of this non-profit comany. Nearby, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Trail maps are provided upon arrival, and you can also view them online on our webpage at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center.
The Outdoor Center offers snacks and cold drinks for purchase, including our inn-made chocolate chip cookies, chips, and cold drinks. Also available on site, at the Inn across the road on mornings we are serving, may be a full breakfast, pastries, packed lunch, and coffee. (Please enquire in advance or night before if any inn items are available. ) Don't miss our Pizza Nights at the inn. More info on the Outdoor Center webpage. This is a perfect relaxation spot for bikers and hikers - Just beyond the yurt you can enjoy, or even help to improve newly constructed mountain biking trails Addison County Bike Club’s members have been working on. Rivers and lakes with swimming holes are an easy drive away, as is the charming mountain village of Bristol, with a fully stocked supermarket, two breweries, restaurants of all price ranges, shops and more. We are 30 minutes from the Burlington International Airport, and the closest Amtrak train station in Rutland is an hour drive.

Bike trails/x country ski trails are connected right to our homestead. Continue on the trail and access some of the best mountain biking trails and snow biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking.
Sugarbush Resort is a 10 minute drive and is one of the best ski mountains in the area!
If you are looking for gym and shower facilities, you can stop into the Sugarbush Resort, just a short driving distance, for a day pass fee.

Please note- This site is on the backside of an operating crop farm. Corn, hay and wheat are grown on the farm. The road to the campsite is utilized by farm equipment, and at times, depending on the weather and traffic it can be muddy to travel on. We continue to improve the farm road, however at this time we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles.
Rules to follow onsite
When dry you can drive right to the tent, otherwise it is a Hike-To Campsite, it's approximately 400 feet from the parking area. No motorized vehicles permitted on the property beyond parking area. This is to help minimize traffic on the property and preserve natural environment and service road.
Parking: There is a parking area for multiple cars located at the entrance of the property, and is limited to 10 vehicles. Turn onto the private dirt road marked 361 Mt. Independence Road. Continue down the road about a 1/2 mile until you see the parking area sign. If you'd rather not drive your vehicle up the dirt road, there is designated parking space at the base of the entrance near the old barn.
Park in designated parking space only. Once parked in Parking area follow the mowed path to the campsite. This is a Posted Private Property. You'll see the signs at entrance of property.
Please stay on the mowed campsite, trails or road.
Do not cut trees or damage natural landscape.
Please leave the site as you found it.
Clean up after yourself and your pets.

Our family is excited to share the beauty of our working crop farm with others. My great grandfather settled here in the late 1930's from Stanstead, Canada, Our family milked dairy cows until 2006 at which time my Dad sold the herd and leased out to neighbor that continues the farming activities on the farm. In 2020, my husband and I became the proud owners of Lake Home Farm. For many years my grandparents rented row boats at this campsite which brought so much joy to so many. We are excited to engage with Tentrr and our campers to share this gem while continuing the relationship with our neighbor who crops the land. Note: this campsite is named after Dot, Dot lived in Ludlow, VT and she spent her summers at this site for all the years of my childhood. She was famous for her turtle soup and we're delighted to remember her in this way!

We are a working Alpaca and Beef farm in Central Vermont. Our cottage is available in the spring, summer and fall to Airbnb guests. Recently we have added the winter season for the adventurous Clamping crowd. The cottage is very private, with alpacas nearby. Hiking, xc-skiing (bring your own) and The Vast (Snowmobile)trails are also nearby. We have amazing western views of the Adirondack mountains, and are 20 minutes from Middlebury, Vergennes; 1 hour from Burlington and Rutland and 45min from Middlebury Snowbowl Ski Area.

Metta Earth Institute (MEI) is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. MEI is based on a small-scale diversified, organic, and biodynamically oriented farm with an acre-sized retreat garden and other herb and flower gardens, and 2 food producing greenhouses. We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices.
Main House Front Porch
The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices.
You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here.
Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone.
We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls.
We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We provide amattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September.
If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

Camping is provided by and in support of the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center, a 501 3C non-profit company. Located in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest, the Outdoor Center provides access to the Blueberry Hill network of trails, the Vermont Long Trail, The Catamount Trail, and the Moosalamoo National Forest Trails.
All campsites are located at the edge of the field behind the Outdoor Center. We have hot/cold outdoor showers as well as restrooms in the Outdoor Center. For more information, visit our website at blueberryhilltrails dot com.
While there is an internet connection near the buildings, it may not be available at your site. Cell service is limited at best. You can drive your car right up to your site. Sites are a good distance apart. Site 1 and the Bed in the Shed are the most private. Site two is quite open and supports trailers.
For your campfire, you can forage for wood or request "bundles" (about a dozen hunks of wood) by the morning of your arrival, and we'll have it delivered to your site. Please note, wood from outside Vermont is not permitted.
Step outside your tent and you'll find a wealth of hiking, biking, and running trails. As stewards of these trails, your camping fees help support the efforts of this non-profit comany. Nearby, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Trail maps are provided upon arrival, and you can also view them online on our webpage at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center.
The Outdoor Center offers snacks and cold drinks for purchase, including our inn-made chocolate chip cookies, chips, and cold drinks. Also available on site, at the Inn across the road on mornings we are serving, may be a full breakfast, pastries, packed lunch, and coffee. (Please enquire in advance or night before if any inn items are available. ) Don't miss our Pizza Nights at the inn. More info on the Outdoor Center webpage. Rivers and lakes with swimming holes are an easy drive away, as is the charming mountain village of Bristol, with a fully stocked supermarket, two breweries, restaurants of all price ranges, shops and more. We are 30 minutes from the Burlington International Airport, and the closest Amtrak train station in Rutland is an hour drive.

Please note- This site is on the backside of an operating crop farm. Corn, hay and wheat are grown on the farm. The road to the campsite is utilized by farm equipment, and at times, depending on the weather and traffic it can be muddy to travel on. We continue to improve the farm road, however at this time we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles.

When dry you can drive right to the tent, otherwise it is a Hike-To Campsite, it's approximately 400 feet from the parking area. No motorized vehicles permitted on the property beyond parking area. This is to help minimize traffic on the property and preserve natural environment and service road.
Parking: There is a parking area for multiple cars located at the entrance of the property, and is limited to 10 vehicles. Turn onto the private dirt road marked 361 Mt. Independence Road. Continue down the road about a 1/2 mile until you see the parking area sign. If you'd rather not drive your vehicle up the dirt road, there is designated parking space at the base of the entrance near the old barn.
Park in designated parking space only. Once parked in Parking area follow the mowed path to the campsite. This is a Posted Private Property. You'll see the signs at entrance of property.
Please stay on the mowed campsite, trails or road.
Do not cut trees or damage natural landscape.
Please leave the site as you found it.

Our family is excited to share the beauty of our working crop farm with others. My great grandfather settled here in the late 1930's from Stanstead, Canada, Our family milked dairy cows until 2006 at which time my Dad sold the herd and leased out to neighbor that continues the farming activities on the farm. In 2020, my husband and I became the proud owners of Lake Home Farm. For many years my grandparents rented row boats at this campsite which brought so much joy to so many. We are excited to engage with Tentrr and our campers to share this gem while continuing the relationship with our neighbor who crops the land. Note: this campsite is named after Dot, Dot lived in Ludlow, VT and she spent her summers at this site for all the years of my childhood. La Lu Farm is a beautiful property! The Goat Yurt is comfortable and the wood-burning stove makes it very cozy. The yurt is a good base camp for exploring the cute nearby towns and hiking in the Green Mountains. On a cold night, be sure to bring a warm sleeping bag and extra firewood (also, bring toilet paper for the outhouse). My spouse and I had lovely stay and would recommend!

Ken hosts one of the most incredible campsites I’ve had the pleasure of staying at, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s one of the kindest souls I’ve met too!
Make sure to bring a camera when you visit, the view is not something you’ll want to forget, nor the beautiful sites around the campground.
This is a must-stay, and I won’t be surprised if Ken ends up being booked year-round!!!

Absolutely beautiful raw nature! The steep walk up is well worth it! Tent is spacious and comfortable. Take the trip to the hollow, not an easy hike but the reward is amazing! The zip line was so much fun, we now need one at home lol. We even enjoyed the occasional sound of the trains going by below. Can't wait to return in the spring!!

Thank you to the private owner and steward of this incredible land. Feeling very grateful they have so generously opened this property to the public and have invited strangers to stay in and use their spaces. Matthew the steward, does a great job on the trail system and maintaining Shreks.
We (2 adults) spent 3 nights with our 2 (almost 3) year old. The hike up is easy and straightforward. Our toddler made the trek to and from the car many times without assistance. The climb up is gradual thanks to rollers, berms and switchbacks. The green and blue trails are very doable with a shotgun bike seat. The hike up with packs and a toddler took us about 35/40 minutes. The hike down about 25 minutes. This was much faster when we were carrying our toddler.
The cabin has everything you need. Which is a great reminder of how little we actually need. We had enough water provided by the Matthew, wood to warm us through 3 cold and windy nights and enough battery lights that we rarely used our headlamps. We played with rocks, colored, watched the ruby crowned kinglets and juncos frolic in the wildflowers, enjoyed the provided games and books and watched the moon and milkyway rise. We hiked and biked. We cooked on the potbelly but also used our own stove as it's faster but you certainly could do all your cooking on the potbelly. The bottom bunk will fit two zlite pads sides by side. The view is stunning. A truly special place.

With kids
Ken’s site is just perfect. To die for view. Very nice lean to with a hammock where we stood our tent. Clear instructions. He sent a map and called to make sure we will settle good. You need a four wheel vehicle to get close to the lean to. Otherwise, there’s a nice campsite near the bathhouse as well. We loved our stay here. Felt super safe. And the outhouse is very accessible too if you need to go in the middle of the night. Thank you, Ken!

Weekend Trip to BlueberryHill Field Camp
My husband and I LOVED our two-night stay in the bed-in-the-shed this past weekend. We've been up to Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center to do some gravel riding before and knew what to expect as far as amenities go. We were super pleased to have such a lovely, quiet and peaceful place to rest our heads. Shari was kind in her welcome and super communicative before and throughout our stay. We'll be making this a regular camping spot when we're in Vermont for sure!
