The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

We love camping, RVing, and the outdoors and wanted to give families the same adventure we have had in the Texas Hill Country with the comfort of home. Nestled in the Texas Hill Country is A Peace of Heaven. Come relax, swim, bird watch, hike, play volleyball, ping pong, build a fire and roast marshmallows. Weekend Trip to Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

We enjoyed camping at site #2, along the Medina River. The stars were bright and we could hear the river. The shower and restrooms were clean. Valerie, one of the hosts, was very welcoming and friendly. My only issue was this one mocking bird who woke us up each day…we think they either thought our car was a bird feeder or that their reflection was a possible mate. They attacked the side of my car over and over, until we put a towel are that part of the car. Aside from the bird, a very peaceful stay.

Great host & a very cozy location to camp. We set out to disconnect to be out in nature without sacrificing the essentials & we definitely accomplished the mission. Free WiFi included near the communal lounge area, along with bathrooms containing hot water for showers & an outside shared kitchen that conveniently provides a propane grill, refrigerator & sink for your cooking needs. You can even purchase eggs provided by the chickens on site as well as firewood from the host. The most cutest friendliest kitty may stop you & demand you pay a toll to pass consisting of pets, scratches & words of appraisal. Camp Sites include a fire pit, picnic table & great tree coverage for shaded areas. The starry night sky can be observed from certain camp sites & there are options for those who wish to distance themselves from other campers as well. It’s also about a 20 min drive to Garner State Park & the nearby convenient store. Will definitely be back!

Give Ozzy a raise because he was the best host and best kitty! I loved this spot, as someone who doesn’t camp often this place was perfect. The WiFi by the showers helped to download my music. As the site itself it was beautiful and spacious. Woody was a nice helpful host for this place and I will definitely be back.

We camped for 2 nights at site 7 and had a blast. Woody is an amazing host and has created a fun and creative camping grounds. There are shaded wagons lined with comfortable pillows for a secluded hang out, hammocks and a beautiful scenic view. The grounds include a shared private bathroom with hot water showers, a shared kitchen with running water and a fridge, the host even offers fresh chicken eggs from his very own chicken coop. We had fun hanging out in the open air kitchen and eating dinner at the shared living spaces. Bonus there is a super sweet barn cat on the grounds who loves to say hello. Overall it’s a great place for group camping and I will be booking this place again.

Weekend Trip to Seco Ridge Campgrounds

We loved this place and will be back. It is great for families, and each site is unique. The grounds are beautiful and laidback, the animals are friendly and well-taken care of (so beautiful, all of them!), and it’s nice having a restroom and shower available. The communal outdoor kitchen area is a great place to hang out if you want to be around others or just change up from the campsite. We spent one day at Garner and this location is a perfect jump off spot for multiple SP day trips. Some things to be prepared for: if you forget something, there isn’t much open nearby for last minute purchases. Be prepared and be flexible. The grate on our fire ring wasn’t steady enough for cooking, BUT there was a propane grill available for use at the communal kitchen (perfect for us because—our fault—we forgot our camp stove at home). Great for stargazing.

Weekend Trip to Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

This was my second time staying here and it did not disappoint. It even got better! There is a new bathroom ‘bivvy’ near the riverside campsites that made those late night/ early morning nature calls way easier to handle with no hill to climb. The owners were fantastic once again and I really valued their site manager, Valerie. She provided excellent customer support and had our firewood already at our campsite so we didn’t need to haul it down. This past weekend was very relaxing and peaceful. Will come back again. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to The Charmadillo: Glamping Resort

Super clean, high quality amenities. The sauna was awesome, love the smell of cedar. We tent camped, i would say if you come after a rain like we did, be careful on the road to the tent camping area as we had a Subaru forester that still slid around quite a bit in the mud. Overall I’d definitely recommend the spot, especially to tent campers who want to get away from everyone else while still having good amenities

Great experience. Host was very nice and accommodating, providing firewood and his own fire starters. Kids enjoyed the plethora of activities (ie basketball, disc golf, feeding chickens, goats, etc). Garner State Park is not far if looking for top notch hiking trails. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to The Charmadillo: Glamping Resort

I LOVED staying at the A frame cabins (#7) on Sarah’s land! The Charmadillo was beautifully kept and the amenities were fantastic!! Everything you could need for camping was included with our stay, including a well stocked industrial kitchen and firewood for a campfire. We cooked all meals there during our stay, and I throughly enjoyed every moment. The view from the kitchen was beautiful. I also especially enjoyed the sauna, it stayed on from sunset to midnight. The cold weather in February made all the warmth feel amazing. We had the sauna to ourselves during the stay and it felt cozy and romantic. The outhouse bathroom and shower rooms were clean, air conditioned, and meticulously designed. I enjoyed all the attention to detail, like a pleasant tobacco woodsy oil diffuser and eucalyptus in the bathrooms. My two pups also enjoyed exploring the property. There is a big field out by the tent sites that was fun to run around in. The whole property has so many spots to relax in. I visited for my birthday and I think I might make it a yearly trip, this was one of the best camping (“glamping”) experiences I’ve ever had. I am definitely recommending this place to my friends!

Great peaceful area. Gorgeous spot on the Medina River. The water is a little cold this time of year (Jan) so we didn't swim but, our pup did, & loved it. We saw deer, turkey, & an Axis deer. Lovely area to relax for sure.

Our stay at Woody’s property was wonderful!! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. It was not too far from San Antonio but still a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle. Site 6 is at the front near the gate but still very open and secluded. Restrooms and communal area is not a far walk but a good enough distance away to still feel like you’re not camping right next to others. There is even cell service with ATT. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending if you’re truly trying to disconnect but it was a nice plus to still have if needed. I would love to go back in the future and stay at a couple of the other sites that are much more tucked back into the wooded areas but the view from this site could not be beat. Thanks again Woody!

The campground/property has more amenities than you would expect, including a full bathroom with shower, a shared kitchen area with a fridge, and not to mention the swings, hammocks, trails and even disc golf baskets that are all around the property. Woody and his family were super welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Overall wonderful experience and we’d come back anytime.

Tent camping here was amazing. Very close to the river and beautiful views all around. The property wasn’t littered with trash and the bathrooms and showers were well maintained. I have zero complaints with Sparrows Bend, planning another trip already!
