This 320 acre plot of land on which you can hike anywhere has been in our family since 1993.
Large, graveled spot for tents or two vehicles with excellent view for miles and miles and night star gazing. Primitive outhouse. Juniper forest with sage brush... basically high desert vegetation. We only allow one reservation per night. You can arrange vehicles or tents to not be in view or block any view from house way above. 320 acres to hike and roam. Mitchell is 10 miles away with well stocked grocery and feed store, restaurants, small brewery, and tire shop. We give directions fairly quickly. Road is wide, but steep at top. 4 wheel drive is recommended. Very close to the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National monument, Ochoco National Forest is seven miles. John Day River for swimming, rafting about 20 minutes. If you can book, it means you can drive on up with out contacting us. As you drive in if at night, you will see a light on the outhouse.

Pull up and let the vacation begin. The Lake Billy Chinook area has everything for the perfect camp trip. There is bike riding, boating, fishing, hiking, ATV riding, swimming, kayaking, lounging and enjoying nature.
When you arrive just park in your site. We have 30-amp service but no RV septic hookup. The site is gravel so you may need to level your rig.
We have a fantastic outdoor area complete with couch, loungers, BBQ and fire pit. The high desert offers some of the most amazing views of the Cascade Mountains with clear blue skies and some of the best star gazing around. Casa del Lago is a dark sky site. There is a fantastic view of Mount Jefferson from the couch and the sunsets are absolutely beautiful.
During the Summer we usually enjoy beautiful sunny days and cool comfortable nights. You can hang out down at the lake and find a spot on the beach to have a picnic. You can also bring your boat or rent one at the Cove Palisades Marina and enjoy water sports.
Hosts live in house on property. We are located 4 miles from the lake and are nestled in a rural country neighborhood.

Hey y'all! As much as we would love to share our space with everyone, we cannot accommodate tent camping since we don't offer an outhouse. While here you'll get to watch the sunset behind the Cascades and stargaze into the night, at our high desert sanctuary. We have 2.5 acres surrounded by sage and rabbitbrush, bunchgrass and juniper trees. My partner and I live on the property along with our dog, cats and chickens. In addition, you will most likely witness cottontails, deer, and quail, as well as many bird species. At night, you may be lucky enough to be serenaded by local coyotes and owls. We are located atop a peninsula straddled by the Deschutes and Crooked river canyons, with access to golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, climbing and kayaking just minutes away! We are also a short 20 minute drive to Smith Rock , 35 minutes to Lake Billy Chinook, and 40 minutes from Bend or Sisters. There is a small trading post in the canyon with gas, limited groceries and made to order sandwiches. For dining, there is a local tap house with food trucks, and a restaurant and bar on the golf course. We offer water and 50 amp electric. If a fire ban is not in effect, we have a fire pit for your use. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine at our bistro table, listening to the birds chirp. Please respect our privacy and do not enter the fenced yard. We are happy to provide information and recommendations on the area, but if you would prefer zero contact we can accommodate that as well! When available, we can offer split firewood, beer and fresh eggs for sale! Also, our home is located next to one neighbor to the south, the local fire station to the north, and 185 acres of rangeland to the west, on a paved road. One can, at times feel totally alone, while other times, the local pickups and harley davidson's like to be heard. We appreciate where we live and want to share that with you!

Its a great very quiet out of the way camping spot for a large groups or small. Tons of wildlife including deer and turkey. No power but had a porta party that was clean if you need it. We had 4 rvs with generators. Most of us just used solar to keep RV batteries up and charge phones. White River is walking distance from apple tree camp site. Tigh valley store it is close enough for most needs. Several adventures are close including Maupin and Pine Hollow lake resort. 3 ponds full of frogs and wildlife right next to the Apple Tree site. Very clean properly with beautiful views of the hills around. Host we're kind and communicated well. Love to go again.

This was our second trip to this camp and it did not disappoint! We booked space for a larger group this time and there was plenty of level grass and shade trees for everyone’s tents. Porta-potties were clean and low.
The private river spot right across the road is perfect: plenty of shaded, sandy bank and room to swim. The water was amazing!
The host was communicative, flexible and helpful when we had an issue due a wildfire in the area. I highly recommend the camp and hosting!

We stayed two nights with friends in an TV. Place is just as described. Bathroom with flush toilet, running water and a shower was nice and clean. Host was very welcoming and responsive to any questions. Traffic on the road at night slows down. We did t hear it at all from inside the trailer. The property was beautiful with all the flowers. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Campsite had a great view of the mountains and rustic fence around the perimeter with LED lights strung on the fence to light it up at night. The near by outhouse was clean. A picnic table was also provided with a 5 gallon water dispenser. Very quiet so you could take in the sounds of nature and a trail nearby to hike. Just what I was looking for.

We loved staying on Kelly’s land! It’s a beautiful high desert spot and a great base for exploring some of the best places in eastern Oregon. During our stay we saw tons of wild turkeys with their babies, a pheasant, and even owls. Kelly was kind, welcoming, and flexible, which made the experience even better. Beautiful place to camp and fish! You’re a 10 minute drive to Smith Rock for hiking or 30 minutes to the crooked river reservoir. Camp is right in the crooked river which we fished and lounged in which was so nice with the heat. Be aware the camps are lined up right next to each other so it’s not private but we only ever saw the farthest camp occupied so it still felt like it was only us. Would definitely stay again!

This camp is located really close to the famous Painted Hills. It can be beneficial to people who are looking for a private area for a camp. But this spot has much bigger potential. I would recommend it to the voyager who wants to stay in a quiet area with awesome views. It will be perfect for relaxing or Yoga. But I want to notice, that need to negotiate your transport before booking the camp. The road some time not good for wide RV. Please see description from the owner and feel free to contact before make decisions. I was on AWD wagon car and didn’t have any issues.

The camp spot was amazing! With white water rafters floating by and the train traveling through on the other side of the river. It was a perfect spot to relax. If you are into rafting, this is the perfect place. We were there to relax . We stayed 8 nights and I think if you don’t go rafting, you might get bored. There is some places to go see, but not much around the little town. Would I go there again? Absolutely! The weather was great! The people are wonderful! It’s definitely a spot on our list to return to.
