Welcome to Squared Roots Farm, a Garlic Farm and homestead in Alsea, Oregon. We specialize in gourmet hardneck garlic and sustainable farming practices. You will be staying in a 16ft Pacific yurt built on raised deck that has a covered deck for shade and rainy days. There is plenty of space for additional tents and RV campers to join! There is a fire pit, picnic table, full propane grill and composting toilet. There is also a wonderful warm wood stove for staying cozy! You can swim in the creek right next to the site or walk over to the North Fork of the Alsea River where there is 1/2 mile of river access and great winter steelhead fishing too. Close to the farm is world class mountain biking, hiking, fishing, waterfalls, great views, and surfing on the Oregon coast. The camp spot is a very private grassy nook nestled next to Honey Grove Creek. There are nature trails on the property with blackberry bushes. We offer farm fresh eggs, firewood bundles, and as the garden begins to ramp up- we will offer all the veggies to campers including goat cheese! We can do cash or Venmo payments. The road department put a sign up that makes our neighbors road look like it should be Crawfordsville Dr. NO GATE If you see a gate you are at the wrong driveway. Again NO GATE 5 Acers of woods, 1 Acer of field/grassland, and one are on the hill with gravel for up RV's. Property is only 0.35 miles from Calapooia river access (local secret spot). 1 mile to McKercher Park and additional river access. General store 0.75 miles away. Next to the historic Crawfordsville Covered Bridge. 8 miles from Brownsville, this town has been featured in multiple movies. 13.8 miles from Foster lake. At the bottom of the property there is a tree house, fire pit, and large grass field that could accommodate 20+ tents. Upper area is a rock parking area with RV hook ups. gas firepit, gas BBQ, and picknic table. I only rent to one group at a time. Rarely camping there when campers are there but father is on site (the grey house) to assist if needed.

We also are located for easy access to local summer attractions, wineries, restaurants etc. Campfires and book reading have been very popular here at Bear Hollow! Check in before sunset for your best experience! (Late arrivals can be requested for an additional fee. Fantastic! We booked last minute and arrived after dark. We had such a comfortable stay, and were in awe of the creek right behind us in the morning light. The bed is incredibly comfy, and we were perfectly comfortable. This place is moments from mine and my kid's favorite place to go catch crawdads. I would absolutely book again.

Our group of 3 adults, 1 kid and 3 dogs all had the best time camping on James' land! The sunsets were incredible, and the hosts were very helpful and friendly. We used the RV site with full hookups as well as the tent campsite below. We enjoyed how spacious and peaceful the land and surroundings were, and especially loved seeing the neighbor's horses. Our first night there, the sky was clear, and we got treated to a spectacular sky full of stars. I've been to Klamath and Central Oregon recently, but this was the most stars I'd seen in years! While I wish we'd had more time to explore the beautiful surroundings, we sure made the most of our weekend trip, with s'mores on the propane fire pit to cooling off in the Calapooia River. The neighboring town of Brownsville was featured in the film, "Stand By Me"! I recommend bringing your own propane, unless you'd like to buy a very expensive tank from Dari Mart. We had a great experience camping here, 10/10.

The property is large and beautifully maintained. It has a mix of shaded and open areas for camping and recreation. It was great for a family gathering. There's a great fire pit, wood supplied, electric hookup and lighting and potable water available. The composting toilet was quite pleasant. The hosts were gracious and we had the run of most of the property, including the blueberry fields for picking from the last of the available berries. There was some road noise from the nearby roadway, but it wasn't a big bother.

3 nights at Shearer Farming and Camping

This is a awesome place for a group to camp! There were 12 of us and was room for more. We got to put tents up on the platform, the trees are perfect hammock trees. We were able to spend our days at the river right down the road and our nights watching the Stars with a awesome view. We set up our camp in the tent area which is down a gravel road from the electricity and dumping for RVs. It's a little bit farther away than I was expecting based on the pictures but we just set everything up down there and with some extension cords there was no problem. We had a couple of issues with small cars getting up and down that hill, but the on-site owner let us use the driveway to bail out the one that could not make it back up. There are lots of fun things to explore, including a treehouse, zip line, swings, friendly goats next door, bats, birds and the occasional curious yellow jacket. We appreciated the privacy and the ability to have a great time without worrying about other campers. Would definitely recommend and we will be coming back next year!

This was a great place to hang out for the weekend. The setup was a little different than what I expected but it worked out great. We loved having plenty of space and hookups for both RVs we had. We loved the grassy tent area but wished it was a little closer to the RV area. We found a little swimming hole 5-10 minutes away that was perfect for cooling off and having some fun...and while technically within walking distance, if you had any inflatables and chairs, it may prove a little more difficult than just driving there. There was a neighborhood dog that barked most of the night...not anything the host can do but something to be aware of. Overall, this was a great place and we highly recommend. James was great with communication and his dad was available anytime during the weekend if we needed anything. Would definitely rent again.

We love camping at Valerie and George's place. Aside from the fact that it is a working blueberry farm, which in itself is wonderful, the camping space is lovely, private and secure. They have put together a very functional camping area, with 2 picnic tables, with lights, a great outhouse and water. Definitely recommended!
