Learn more about this land: One mile from I-5, you may pitch your tent or park your van in a meadow near some fir trees bordering Elk Creek. Feel the restful flow of water bringing tranquility. Follow hiking trails along the creek, through groves of trees, or play in the singing creek. There is another hiking trail to another portion of the creek to the right of the road that passes by the barn. A sign on an oak tree indicates the edge of the large mowed meadow that will take you to another sign for the trail to the creek. In 1948 a wildfire came thru what then was a mixed forest of spars old growth conifers, evergreen and deciduous broadleaf trees burning intensely enough to render the entire area to primarily grassland. Today it is quickly returning to primarily mixed forest, recovering the ability to hold water at cooler temperatures as it once did. Nestled on the south slope of Dickinson Mountain it offers plenty of sunshine yet some of the best cool freshwater to be found anywhere. Although much of this paradise is considerably steep there are ample cow and goat trails to make exploring extremely enjoyable. Bachelor Creek which runs thru approximately 1/2 mile of the Southeast portion is home to beaver, cutthroat, western pond turtles, great blue heron, and many other wildlife. There is a pair of resident Redtail hawks, wild turkeys, deer, bobcat, coyote, cougar, mink, flying, silver grey, and pine squirrels, owls (sawhete, screach, Pigmy, barred, and great horned), and many others. There are also many swimming holes on Bachelor Creek and a tributary we call Dancing creek, although they are all somewhat small the water is nice and refreshing for a quick dip on a warm day. This is a working farm raising cattle, and chickens. On that note please don't feed any of the animals as they could become a real nuisance. If you are going to be leaving your camp for a hike or swim etc. please secure any food items to avoid a potential disaster. The farm is 170 acres (a half mile by a half mile) and there is a fence all the way around it. Feel free to hike wherever, as long as you don't cross any fences you are still here. You can take a dip in the creek where it comes out of the culvert below the road and there is a picnic table at each site as well as at the dipping hole.

In 1948 a wildfire came thru what then was a mixed forest of spars old growth conifers, evergreen and deciduous broadleaf trees burning intensely enough to render the entire area to primarily grassland. Today it is quickly returning to primarily mixed forest, recovering the ability to hold water at cooler temperatures as it once did. Nestled on the south slope of Dickinson Mountain it offers plenty of sunshine yet some of the best cool freshwater to be found anywhere. Although much of this paradise is considerably steep there are ample cow and goat trails to make exploring extremely enjoyable. Bachelor Creek which runs thru approximately 1/2 mile of the Southeast portion is home to beaver, cutthroat, western pond turtles, great blue heron, and many other wildlife. There is a pair of resident Redtail hawks, wild turkeys, deer, bobcat, coyote, cougar, mink, flying, silver grey, and pine squirrels, owls (sawhete, screach, Pigmy, barred, and great horned), and many others. There are also many swimming holes on Bachelor Creek and a tributary we call Dancing creek, although they are all somewhat small the water is nice and refreshing for a quick dip on a warm day. This is a working farm raising cattle, and chickens. On that note please don't feed any of the animals as they could become a real nuisance. If you are going to be leaving your camp for a hike or swim etc. please secure any food items to avoid a potential disaster. The farm is 170 acres (a half mile by a half mile) and there is a fence all the way around it. Feel free to hike wherever, as long as you don't cross any fences you are still here. You can take a dip in the creek where it comes out of the culvert below the road and there is a picnic table at each site as well as at the dipping hole.

Beautiful 360 acres of vacant forest land with creeks, springs, views, and trails, surrounded hard-to-access public land with old-growth forests. Old logging roads are everywhere, excellent for mountain biking and hiking or just a walk. Meadows feature flat spots for camping. The property has 990 feet of elevation drop from the top to creek and 1.2 miles of ridgetop. Not far from Highway 199 or town, just 10 minutes to a small store and Highway 199, and 20–25 minutes to Grants Pass and I-5. Take a dip in the creek, bike, hike, hunt for mushrooms, or simply relax in the peaceful atmosphere. A disc golf basket sits in the meadow Roads are bumpy, so no sports cars or overloaded vehicles; SUVs are fine. It’s a beautiful journey to get here, with one mile of gravel/dirt road leading from the pavement to the meadow. You may occasionally hear ATVs far up on the hill, but not often.

Honest solo traveler review: DD’s little piece of paradise is a perfect place to rest your head! I’m so lucky to have found this beautiful and safe place to set up camp - the view in the morning was absolutely spectacular! Her spot isn’t too far from a gas station, a pub and has service!!! We absolutely love Cathryn's beautiful hipcamp on the Umpqua River in Roseburg. We went in late October so the weather was chilly and it rained a lot but we made the best of it. We had the entire campground to ourselves and just a few steps away from the most breathtaking river scene. My son enjoyed fishing and saw many huge salmon but unfortunately he didn't catch one next time perhaps. We have a 31ft RV and our friends had a smaller RV there are no hookups but that's how we love and enjoy camping. It is very peaceful with wild turkeys that ventured into our camps. There are no strict rules on dogs off leash which are pups love to explore and run around and frolic in the water it was amazing. Cathryn came by once to introduce herself and to answer any questions that we may have had. She also mentioned that they are going to do some improvements to the camp to get down to the water more accessible. Its all a work in process but it's beautiful just the way it is. We can't wait to book for the summer because there are many deep pools there to swim in. The only suggestion that I would have would be to move the front gate further down so that when you pull out of the gate you're not on the main road where it could potentially be dangerous. To be honest I really don't want to say too many great things about this place lol because we would love it to remain a secret 😜 It is definitely in the books for springtime. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us.

This was our first stop on a tour testing a camper van. It was a perfect start to our adventure. Spacious lots (and a wide variety of stay outings), loved the dish wash station and the showers (with heated clean bathrooms) were AMAZING! Great proximity to many different waterfalls. Staff were also incredibly responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

The space was gorgeous arriving after dark, (though make sure you bring enough lighting, the stairs can be a trip hazzard if youre not careful) and absolutely beautiful to explore in the morning. My pup loved the close creek access, the beautiful bridge, and the fun little nature trail. The facilities were clean and though I didnt have time to use the shower it was nice to have available! Private, safe, beautiful, and exactly the stop we needed on our drive north this year! We will be back! Thanks Marcus for being so responsive and helpful answering questions, the descriptions were thorough and helpful! My last piece of advice is just check for gravel in your tires as you leave, I had a little trouble with some extra sharp ones getting stuck on my way out.

Weekend Trip to Crater Lake Private Space

Joy’s residence was such a pleasure to stay at! We booked both Pine Camp sites and stayed with friends. The 3rd site (Dave’s Camp) wasn’t booked but even if it was, the sites are fairly separated and the Pine Camp sites would have still felt completely private. There is a nice little trail behind the camp sites that the dogs enjoyed, and plenty of shade for hanging out and relaxing! Joy was so friendly, communicative, and was flexible with us when we requested leaving slightly later than normal checkout time (since no one coming in after us). The sites were well set up, clean, and had a cute, cozy vibes to them! As others have stated, the sewer hookup is on the front side of the site and the electric and water is on the back. We chose to wait to hook up sewer and just dumped the tanks right before leaving. The water spigot is set back aways from the site, we had extra hoses so it was no trouble but you will need some hose length (50’) to reach! A wonderful experience and our next trip to the Crater Lake area we will no doubt request to stay with Joy again!
