In 1948 a wildfire came thru what then was a mixed forest of spars old growth conifers, evergreen and deciduous broadleaf trees burning intensely enough to render the entire area to primarily grassland. Today it is quickly returning to primarily mixed forest, recovering the ability to hold water at cooler temperatures as it once did. Nestled on the south slope of Dickinson Mountain it offers plenty of sunshine yet some of the best cool freshwater to be found anywhere. Although much of this paradise is considerably steep there are ample cow and goat trails to make exploring extremely enjoyable. Bachelor Creek which runs thru approximately 1/2 mile of the Southeast portion is home to beaver, cutthroat, western pond turtles, great blue heron, and many other wildlife. There is a pair of resident Redtail hawks, wild turkeys, deer, bobcat, coyote, cougar, mink, flying, silver grey, and pine squirrels, owls (sawhete, screach, Pigmy, barred, and great horned), and many others. There are also many swimming holes on Bachelor Creek and a tributary we call Dancing creek, although they are all somewhat small the water is nice and refreshing for a quick dip on a warm day. This is a working farm raising cattle, and chickens. On that note please don't feed any of the animals as they could become a real nuisance. If you are going to be leaving your camp for a hike or swim etc. please secure any food items to avoid a potential disaster. The farm is 170 acres (a half mile by a half mile) and there is a fence all the way around it. Feel free to hike wherever, as long as you don't cross any fences you are still here. You can take a dip in the creek where it comes out of the culvert below the road and there is a picnic table at each site as well as at the dipping hole.

Nearly everyone that comes here to visit or buy goats or eggs say "This place is beautiful"! And I always agree and will never take it for granted. Living here is a blessing and it gives me great pleasure to be able to share it with others especially children that still have that sense of wonder and awe. Especially in these days of  electronic distractions.  Although Dancing creek is only about 15 minutes off of I-5 the feeling is remote. It is mostly forested and steep in places. A short walk uphill will usually give you cell phone access (especially with Verizon). But otherwise you can amerce your senses in nature!  Bachelor Creek runs thru the bottom. In summer it is a small meandering creek well shaded to keep its water cool for the health of the cutthroat trout, salamander, and many other species that depend on it. It is mostly shallow with many good access areas that are fun and safe for children to enjoy its splendor.  For the adventuresome a hike up the creek will bring you to the beaver dam and lodge where you might catch a glimpse of the resident beaver or hear it slap it's tail as a warning to others upon your arrival.  There are several dirt/gravel roads to walk or you can hop on one of the many cow or goat trails and take an adventurous hike thru the woods up to the meadow where you will find wild turkeys, deer, quail, and occasional coyote to name a few.  Dancing Creek is a working farm with a small herd of cattle and goats. They may wander thru on their way to better brows or grazing so be on the look out for the occasional cow pie. All of the livestock are friendly but mostly mind their own business. The goats are usually accompanied by Yeti the livestock guardian dog that protects them from predators. Yeti is very friendly and will probably want to be petted. She regards all of us as her family and is dedicated to protecting us from scary predators. It is fine to pet her but she should be encouraged to stay with her goats (so please don't feed her or any of them, Thanks).   It is an honor to share this little piece of heaven with you and please feel free to ask any questions about the local flora and fauna. I can help you identify many of the plant and animal species and perhaps do an occasional nature walk with you.

From Portland to Crater lake.

Ron was wonderful host! We loved camping at dancing creek and would consider staying again. We stayed here on our way from Portland to Crater lake. We requested camp 1 but since both sites were avalible for our duration ron recommended we check out site 2 and see if we would like it, which we did. The property is massive, we saw(and dipped in) the creek, ron's garden, and a meadow up the hill. The view from the medow was spectacular. One of the best parts was just chatting with ron he made us feel welcome and was just a really cool guy. Also we got to see the cows just before we left.

Ron was a great host and has a beautiful remote property. No noise at night besides the creek and frogs! Lovely, rustic, peaceful place a ways off the beaten path.

This is a beautiful camp. There’s a water hole for summer dips. Handcrafted fire rings. Cute cows and calves sometimes. Beautiful walkways for hikes in the woods. Blackberries in the summertime. The Host Ron is kind and personable, very hospitable. I was privileged enough to get a tour of his glorious garden, greenhouse and orchards. But didn’t take pictures of that as I wasn’t sure if the gated private area was for public viewing. Every time we visit it’s an adventure on this amazing Hipcamp property. Thank you Ron!

This place was so nice and peaceful! Way more affordable than a public camping ground, and way less people too. We had a great time cooling off in the swimming hole. We had a blast!

Site 2 on Ron's property (right next to the creek) was idyllic, quiet, and private. It was a bit of work to back the trailer up to the flat spot at the end, but it was well worth it for such a tranquil, beautiful setting. Ron is a very gracious, accommodating host. We highly recommend both Ron and Site 2.

Ron met us shortly after we arrived with his adorable dog Penny. He was friendly and brought us firewood. The area was very quiet and secluded, which we enjoyed. The outhouse was clean and close to our site. We loved seeing the cows in the morning. It was a peaceful stay

Pleasant spring
Ron's land is very beautiful and calming to camp on. I loved the creek flowing around site 2. It made it feel very private and magical. Would definitely come again!

Ron's Dancing Creek Campground was quaint and comforting. Instructions were clear and all facilities were clean and usable. Ron came to greet us with his playful puppy, Penny. The creek provides relaxing white noise for sleeping and there is plenty of high quality firewood provided for a warm gathering.

Great little spot. Ron provided firewood and kindling which was a nice touch. Site had a water feature as well. Recommend this site to anyone passing through.

My group and I had an amazing camping experience at dancing creek farm! We stayed at site 2 where the creek runs beside the campsite, with beautiful scenery & shaded with lots of trees. Ron was very accommodating to our needs & easy to communicate with. Bathroom & shower were clean. The dipping hole was nice to cool down & the cutest cows came to say hi! I would definitely stay here again!

We had a great time camping on Ron's land. He greeted us when we arrived and was incredibly friendly. We set up at Site 2 with no issues and loved the seclusion of the site. We slept to the sounds of running creek water and the kids loved the small creek access where they got to pick blackberries. We hiked to the top of his property to enjoy a gorgeous meadow and view of his land. It was a great experience.

Perfect Peaceful Night Off I-5

Exactly as described and really a perfect pit stop for the night that is conveniently off of I5 but away from the noise of the high way. It was so nice to wander some trails on the property and see the livestock around. It was peaceful and private for a good nights rest. Ron was very accommodating.

Ron greeted me upon arrival and showed me around. Ron put a lot of effort into these sites. He built an outhouse, a shower, and had running water for drinking. He provided us with a ton of fire wood, plenty for the weekend. Our site was right next to a creek and it sounded so lovely. No mosquitos. The next day we were greeted by about 20 cows and calves, they were so friendly and walked right up to me (slowly) for pets and licked my hand! And when I asked them to move away from our site because they were getting close, they listened! That honestly made my morning. Thank you Ron for your hospitality.

Pleasant spring
Very lovely experience! Ron waited for us at the driveway although it was dark when we arrived (winter) & made sure we knew where everything was! Lots of mushrooms, slugs, & beauty! Outhouse for toilet but kept clean! Would recommend!

Wow Ron’s land is so beautiful. It is tucked far back in the forest so there is no road noise. Both sites are well kept and clean and include a table with a nice fire pit. There is a solar shower which is pretty cool and a super clean outhouse. He has taken such good care of his land. It is lush and green at site 2 which is right near the creek. Site one is up on a hill and has a little lookout of the valley. Ron was so accommodating, helping me get a fire going and bringing me produce from his garden. I enjoyed chatting and meeting his herd of unique cows. There are two sweet dogs that like to come over for visits too. Such a cool place to stay.

Ron’s property is very secluded and peaceful. The site was tidy and ready for set-up upon arrival. The nearby outhouse and running water spigot were a very short walk and very convenient. Chatted with Ron briefly shortly after arrival and he’s very friendly and enjoyable. I certainly felt that if anything came up that we needed any assistance with he would be happy to make sure we were well taken care of. Once we were left to our own, there was no other signs of human activity our entire stay. Just what we wanted… that feeling of getting away from it all!

Ron’s place was the perfect stop over for us on our way from Northern California to Portland. The Creekside campground was beautiful and private—shaded with the sound of the creek while you sleep. There were also lots is blackberries for the picking!

I really enjoyed the campsite! Ron was very nice. I will say it is about 20 minutes from i5 so if you are looking for a quick stopover you might be driving a bit further than you want to be after a long day of driving.

We loved our stay at Ron’s! Can’t wait to come back and see more of the animals next time. Campsite 1 had a great location, lots of kindling for fire, two close trees for a hammock, Ron was so nice to provide fire wood. Campsite 2 looks nice it is right next to a stream that sounds nice at night.

Stay here if you’re looking for a place to kick up your heels for a few days. There’s room to roam and it’s quiet. Ron is a great host be sure to tell him if you are ⛺️ or in a rig.

The best place to camp, hands down. Ron is the best host. He opens his land up sharing his tranquility with those of us that are lucky enough to stop by for a stay. From the beautiful babbling brook to the perfect tent spot that fits our 12 person tent comfortably to even what my son calls the "Shrek" outhouse, it's all so wonderful! Genuinely my family's absolute favorite spot to camp.

We loved staying at Ron’s campsite! He greeted us shortly after we arrived and was friendly and helpful. We chose camp 2 and were very happy with it. The spot was secluded and peaceful, especially with the sounds of the creek. Bathroom was clean and easy to find. Overall a very beautiful place!

This will be our third visit to Dancing Creek Farms. It’s always peaceful and welcoming and we look forward to the dogs coming to greet us. When we pulled in the smell of mint filled the air. “Pennyroyal.” Ron explained, it’s in the mint family. It rained this time but Ron offered a cabin/camper he crafted with a little stove that kept us toasty and dry. In the morning a little herd of cattle with their calves stood outside the door puzzled staring at my vehicle and wondering what it was doing there. This place is like a story from a book and Ron is a character from its pages. Hands down our favorite stop. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this cool property.

So peacefull! Dancing Creek Farm is on beautiful land that is secluded and well cared for. This is the perfect stay for me, just off the I5 on my now frequent trips between humboldt and seattle. I'll certainly be requesting more camps down the road :-) and recommending it to any traveler who needs a safe, peaceful stay in gorgeous southern oregon!

We had just a short 1 night stay with our 5 kids and had the place to ourselves and it was magical! Beautiful setting, quiet and Ron was so accommodating. Lots of area to explore and the kids would have liked to stay for the week. Highly recommend!

Dancing Creek Farm
This was such a wonderful spot! The site is very private and shaded by trees with a babbling creek that runs along the side. There are two sites on the property, far enough away from each other that if someone else had been staying in the other site, it would have not have been an issue. This site (#2) did seem a bit smaller than the other, but was plenty of room for our tent, chairs, extra table and small SUV. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to be back in the future!
