Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River flows past Armleder Park a few miles away, which has a gravel river beach, a dog park, walking and biking trails and connects to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. We didn’t pick the best weekend to go camping, but Aimee’s land made the stay the best that it could have been with the wet weather. The outhouse was convenient and conveniently located to our relocated site, since our van only allowed us to park at site 1. I didn’t realize that the other sites were walking access only, and especially since the land was wet, our van, which was our RV, prevented us from accessing our original requested location. The sauna was a feature that we really enjoyed; and the wood, which was convenient to buy there, after many attempts in the wet weather, finally took fire. Overall, considering the conditions, Aimee’s property made the stay the best.

I camped at site 4 for a few days with my 6 yr old daughter, and it was lovely. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. There were free range chickens, which my daughter really enjoyed, as well as the pond and the koi fish. We stayed late in October, so it was very quiet and peaceful. It definitely takes a few hauls to get your gear to site 4, but it is worth it. My daughter has not yet mastered the art of peeing in the woods - so having the 'privy' close by was a great bonus!. Aimee was also very kind, and easy to get in touch with if we needed anything. Hopefully we can return next year!

We loved camping with our kidddos on Aimee’s beautiful farm. Felt like we packed the house (if you have kids..you know) and that def kicked our butt getting to site 5 with the multiple trips down and up steep hills lugging carts and wagons! If you don’t want a serious leg workout, choose sites 2 or 3 :) The camp store was cute and stocked with goodies that we had to try! The dill pickles were uh-mazing. We loved walking the trails and were fascinated by the pawpaw trail. The privy was clean and served its purpose well for the rest of my family lol Site 5 was well laid out, semi private in late Oct with so many fallen leaves, a couple great spots for hammocks, and sits across the creek from site 3 (empty while we were there). There was a loud-ish crew staying close by at another site - but we were all so tired by the end of the day, it didn’t bother us at all :) Already can’t wait to come back! Aimee was very nice and you can tell that she just loves her farm and sharing it with others. Thanks Aimee! 10/10 would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Todd’s Fork Adventures

The land is very private, we were able to access the property with ease. The camp sites were distanced very nicely as we didn’t really hear or see anyone else. Access to the creek was easy, the creek water was very clear in nature. We did some fishing and caught 4 large mouth bass and a species I never dealt with before. After few forums the fish was skipjack herring know. As poor mans Tarpon. You can hear the coyotes late at night hunting animals. We didn’t encounter any wildlife like deer, or raccoons. The owner greeted us very next day. I would def come back during the summer time and do some fishing. Camp site 3 was excellent cause we like being away from people and being on our own. The location took me by surprise. The owner gave us a tip on hot tent camping, I had a stove was too close to the ground. He recommended some stone or concrete blocks. We went to Home Depot and got some cheap stone stepping stones and fixed our problem with the stove.

The Sugar Shack is the perfect secluded primitive stay! Be prepared to take one of the wagons if you packed a lot of stuff. Aimee did a fantastic job utilizing her land for campers, It’s family friendly and there’s plenty to do. The wood burning stove was the perfect addition to our cold autumn evenings, it makes it so cozy while settling in for the night. When we first got there, Aimee had the stove packed for us already and a bundle of wood. I would recommend a trip here 10/10!!
