2 nights at Camp The New River, Blacksburg, VA

Fantastic camping spot! Beautiful and quiet with river access and a dock. There were lawn chairs and cooking utensils which I didn't expect but between the fire pits with grates and the picnic grill you can cook about anything. The ground is level with lots of grass and room for several tents if you want to group camp. The hosts are fantastic. The husband introduced himself first afternoon and asked if I wanted firewood. You can bring your own but I didn't have any way to do that. The $30 scoop of firewood was huge! The weather changed and I ended up leaving a night early with firewood left. The host refunded my firewood without being asked. I would never have expected that but it was appreciated. I can't wait to go back when it's hot enough to get in the river!

3 nights at Meadow Creek In Dry Valley

This place is beautiful! The pictures don’t do it justice. We saw a heron and turkey milling about the creek. We enjoyed having full hookups with close proximity to VT and other attractions. If you forget anything, you’re close to plenty of options. You do need to bring plenty of leveling supplies. We used pictures of previous set ups to help us figure out what we wanted to do. We were able to make it work for our 34’ travel trailer with the door facing the creek. The hostess is a sweetheart; friendly and helpful, but won’t be in your business either! Highly recommend!

5 nights at Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground

Definitely enjoyed our stay. Nice large shaded spot. The dogs enjoyed all the trails on the property. The host are wonderful will definitely stop back when in the area.

Great spot. Great host. Awesome like hang in northern NC. Great access to places like hanging rock, Mt Airy, pilot mountain and more. Looking forward to going back when the tubes start running. We stayed in the primitive side but it was nothing short of perfect. A1 minute drive or home for five had you at the mill house and showers and bathrooms. Host was incredibly helpful. Informed is if some upcoming events that would be a dam (sic) shame to miss. Definitely with your time if you're interested in picking up a spot here. 12/10 will be back again.

Beautiful place to escape. I took a solo trip here and enjoyed it immensely. I was already starting to plan my next visit before I even left. I loved that the area allowed me to truly disconnect but there was still access to wifi nearby if needed.

Our 4th time here but first time in site 6 which we loved. Amazing view of the New River as it winds its way towards the RV park. We had a strong breeze up on the site as is common for a stay here but the view is spectacular and the access for us was easy. This is one of our top 'go-to' sites when we travel and we'll be back by Fall.

Weekend Trip to Why be Square?! Blue Ridge Yurt

Awesome, cozy spot! We loved our stay at the green yurt. The wrap around porch and outdoor table are perfect for meals and enjoying nature. Make sure to take the GPS route that passes “Huffville cemetery” or you can get into a dicey backroads situation.

This is a rustic experience which is exactly what I was looking for. The sound of the water from the river and the dam close by was soothing and helped me get to sleep. There was nobody camping down by the water, so I wandered down there and sat in this idyllic spot for a while. I bought a wheelbarrow of firewood, but if you do this in advance be aware that it's a bit of trek to go to the mill, bring back the firewood, return the wheelbarrow, and then walk back to the camp. Amazing spot on the river! Would love to cone back in the summer! The dock and provided amenities were fantastic and thoughtful. Dogs loved playing in water. Clean porta- John. The driveway is no joke but we were able to manage our small trailer with no problems. Big Rigs could have issue.

We enjoyed our spot by the river. Other campers not too close, and other than the occasional barking dog, it was quite peaceful. Sandy bottom river, would be great for swimming in warmer weather. Wading was cold at first but warmed up after a few minutes. We did not investigate the bathroom area as we are independent/self contained and it looked like they may have been under construction as the doors were off the hinges. All in all, a great spot for what we needed - a quiet spot to sleep and prepare breakfast. Two nights this trip and will definitely be back if we are in the area again. Emerald Hollow Mine was a short drive away and very fun place to visit.

1 night at Jessup Mill

Great place to stay for a few days. It was easy to find and drive right to the camping spot. Matthew (host) is a super, super communicator. There is a nice river that you can easily see and get to from the camping spot. I loved listening to the water all night long. No AT&T cell service at the camp site. However, about a 5 minute walk away you can get to an area (the Mill) that has WiFi, showers, and a bathroom. The showers and bathroom were clean and well stocked. In the morning, before leaving, I parked my truck at the Mill and did several hours of work using the Wifi. If I’m ever in the area and need a place to stay, this would be my first choice.

We had a delightful visit, very peaceful and site 4 was very private and accommodated our 22’ trailer just fine. Sandra and Roy are terrific, very accommodating and knowledgeable of surrounding area. Exploring the area was really fun, so many vineyards and the town of Wilkesboro is very quaint. Their outdoor recreation area at Cub Creek is as wonderful as beautiful. Great pickleball play as well. Will definitely visit again.

Most campgrounds these days are overrun with too many people as properties force as many people in an area as possible. The Floyd Eco village is different. Creekside camping only offers 10 elevated, leveled, moss covered tent sites for tents ranging from 8 ft to 16 ft. Sites 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 10 are 8 ft by 8 ft and can host a solo tent. The campsite has a bathhouse with hot water and potable water. We are in Bear country so please dispose of your trash in the cans provided within the bath house. There is a shared fire pit with large stones to sit on and a cooking rack. Firewood is available until we run out at no additional charge. We ask that campers bring an ax to cut the wood into smaller pieces. There is also a trail leading from the campground, around the property and to the animal pens and pond.

We have traced this farm's history back to the 1750's when a mill was built on Reed Creek. There is a log home that we know that was built in 1840 still on the premises. The white farm house across from the camp sites was built in 1877. The fish hatchery that is still in operation today was built by the Federal Government in 1923. Learn more about this land: Camp site situated along 3 separate creeks connected by one large private 11 acre field. Tate Run/ Reed Creek/ Venrick Run. The farm house is across the road and the whole property comprises of 88 acres of woods and pasature. The farm house was built in 1877 and the Ranch currently operates with 30 head of cattle and a working trout hatchery. We have traced this farm lineage back to the 1750's when a mill was constructed at the meeting of Tate Run and Reed Creek by Swiss Immigrant Henry Grubb. Camping here along Reed Creek is peaceful and quiet. Located just a few short miles from town it is easy to get to ...but a long way from the world at large. Jessup Mill

Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill…. So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each. Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail). Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash. Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week. Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! Water shoes are recommended, and we have life jackets on request. Most of our tubes come with bottoms and back rests, but a few are open to the water. Most weekends, reservations are not required, but it does help tremendously if we know when you want to come and how many in your group. We built this space as our little stay-cation spot and knew we had to share it. There is a bath house with a heated shower, and a port-a-john that is cleaned regularly. There are 2 picnic areas with charcoal grills. We have a 24x16 enclosed stage that can be used for bands, educational classes, karaoke, yoga... ect. There is also an outdoor movie theater that is available to rent for an evening. There are a few restaurants close by and we are only 6 miles from downtown Mocksville. There are a lot of wineries and breweries within a 30 min drive from our property. We are about 15 minutes from river access to the Yadkin river for anyone looking to Kayak. There are lots of local fishing holes and places to go horseback riding. We are about an hour drive to lots of different hiking trails from pilot mountain, and hanging rock to the blue ridge parkway. We have 2 dogs that live here and will greet you at the gate. Please be respectful of the neighbors and drive slowly down the dirt road to our property to limit dust. We look forward to hosting your camping get away.

Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Looking Forward: July update. We are currently working on provided an all downhill mountain bike trail from 3600 to 3150ft. This path will be double wide for the most part and wide open at first to soak in the se view. Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard. We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John and a list of dump stations nearby. Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions. Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival). Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs (American Viticultural Area). We're next door (3 miles) to Raffaldini and Piccione Vineyards. Take a day trip to Boone, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Airy, Winston-Salem, Charlotte or additional areas of interest. We love it here and would like to share it with you. Formerly Meadow Creek Campground, this beautiful piece of land has two camping spots and a tent spot overlooking a meandering tributary of the Little River called Meadow Creek. The two camper sites have full water and electric hookup. Tent site is primitive, but guests can access water and electricity at the picnic shelter. A portable outhouse is nearby. Picnic table provided in each spot. Location is central to Radford, Floyd and Christiansburg. Cell service is spotty. It's a great place to unplug! Campsites are beyond a gravel driveway. You will need to drive through a grassy area to reach the sites. While the sites are located on fairly flat ground, leveling will be required. We do NOT recommend following GPS. Please see directions to the property and follow carefully to avoid driving around unnecessarily on narrow, winding roads.
