Weekend Trip to 100 Acre Wood

I was driving from Arlington/DC to TN and wanted to break up the trip. The Up on Top site was perfect - great view, private and David was a great host. I was a little worried about the wind, but it ended up being a calm night. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Redeemers Ridge Retreat

Probably one of the most beautiful spots we have camped at. Feels like the middle of nowhere, but is a short drive to Sparta, or independence. Halfway between Stone Mountain and Grayson highlands. Daughton park is 20 minutes away ( however the parkway was closed during our stay )

We can reconfirm what others have said: One of the best Hipcamp sites we have experienced! David has staked out a beautiful slice of Heaven in the rolling hills of the 100 Acre Woods. So do take the tour if offered! Each unique site is spacious, clean and very private. And we had no trouble towing our small camper up the hill to Bruington Meadow with a 4wd Outback. Cell service (Verizon) at the site was decent. And though there are many, many, many amazing roads to explore, we enjoyed just sitting by the fire and enjoying the view. We'll save the roads for our next trip back here. Which we hope is soon!

1 night at Meadow Creek In Dry Valley

This was our first time using hip camp to book a campsite. The road coming in to get to this property is a beautiful twisty windy country Road that gives you the beginning of the sense of being in the beautiful countryside. Once on the property, the open space and the way the property is kept is absolutely beautiful. The sites offer plenty of space between any other campers. The host even provided coffee at the gazebo/pavilion in the morning. We absolutely love our stay. Enjoyed it and will almost definitely be back.

We had a great experience at Judy and Wendy’s RV site. We had no trouble finding the location and Judy was very hospitable and helpful in getting us set up. Their site is super quiet and beautiful and my kids really liked the nearby creek.

I loved tent camping on David’s land! David is an amazing host, super helpful and kind. David even surprised us with a tractor ride around the land! We brought our dogs and were able to camp with them off leash all weekend. The views from the Up On Top site are breathtaking in person! This would be a beautiful site for stargazing as well! We loved our stay and will be returning in the future!

Stayed one night at Burlington Meadow and had a great experience! David was an excellent host; super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The campsite itself was peaceful and very secluded, offering plenty of privacy and a real sense of being immersed in nature. There were plenty of paths to explore right on the property. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for a quiet, scenic getaway!

Weekend Trip to Marshall Creek Farm

Quiet and secluded cabin. The host set up a fire ring tripod and Dutch oven for me. Decent spot. Note there is limited cellphone reception, which might be seen as a benefit.

We loved RV camping on Greg’s land. He’s got a professional layout with an amazing peaceful pair of sites that are perfect for creekside play and also relaxation if all you want is the sound of the creek. We had unobstructed line of sight for Starlink and found the 45 minute drive to Boone and Blowing Rock to be painless. Greg was accommodating and friendly yet he didn’t intrude. It’s great to have stayed with a host with RV experience and a gracious manner. Thank you!

I loved camping on this farm! Hosts are very friendly and helpful and have a great farm store. Lots of animals around which was wonderful. I was camped by the pond and got a serenade from the frogs at sundown.

We loved camping on Greg‘s land. He was gracious enough to upgrade us to site one which had a fabulous view of the creek below and was shielded from the road by a cute little barn. We spent one of our days up in Boone and Blowing Rock, which was about a 40 minute drive. We would highly recommend these sites, especially for a family or small group since there is lots of space available for the price.

A clean, private fun play area for you and your pets. Myself and two dogs had a great time. Nice trail to the creek. A lot of deer around and the best thing very quite with poor cell service. No distractions from the sounds of nature. Tim

100 Acre Wood

100 Acres of forested land in the Draper, Virginia area with scattered clearings that are connected by various roads/trails throughout. Over the years cutting roads has been a hobby that has resulted in miles of cleared pathways throughout the property that are perfect for hiking, running, cycling, and horseback riding. The property includes a small stream, several ravines, ridge lines and trails to explore. We frequently encounter deer, rabbits, squirrels, and the occasional turkey, black bear, coyotes and Bigfoot. The thing people seem to enjoy most is the privacy and and quiet that allows you to connect with nature with no one else around. Things to watch out for other than the wildlife mentioned above the two main concerns in this part of Virginia are deer ticks and poison ivy. We are located about 5 minutes from I-81 or 15 minutes from I-77 making it an easy place to stop when passing through on your way to other adventures. If you are coming on I-81, use exit 89-A. Don't let Google maps take you to Frog Level Ct near the town of Pulaski (LOL). Nearby attractions include Appalachian Gem and Gold Mine on Route 100 (5 min), New River Trail State Park (10 min), Claytor Lake State Park (20 min) and the Town of Draper has a couple small town shops to explore including The Draper Mercantile and Trading Company and the newly opened Conery where you can get wonderful ice cream cones and more. We love hosting campers and are happy to help make accommodations to help you have an enjoyable stay. We have 3 sites but only allow 2 to be in use at a time on the property. This insures that all guests continue to feel complete privacy from others and allows us to always have an alternate site available if campers want to change. Available "Extras" include portable toilet setup, Woodshop class making a cutting board, big foot siting's as well as various camping gear items and games. If there are other extra's you would like to see or something you forgot to bring please let us know and we will see what we can do.

Jessup Mill

Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill…. So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each. Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail). Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash. Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week. Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! Water shoes are recommended, and we have life jackets on request. Most of our tubes come with bottoms and back rests, but a few are open to the water. Most weekends, reservations are not required, but it does help tremendously if we know when you want to come and how many in your group. Meadow Creek In Dry Valley

Formerly Meadow Creek Campground, this beautiful piece of land has two camping spots and a tent spot overlooking a meandering tributary of the Little River called Meadow Creek. The two camper sites have full water and electric hookup. Tent site is primitive, but guests can access water and electricity at the picnic shelter. A portable outhouse is nearby. Picnic table provided in each spot. Location is central to Radford, Floyd and Christiansburg. Cell service is spotty. It's a great place to unplug! Campsites are beyond a gravel driveway. You will need to drive through a grassy area to reach the sites. While the sites are located on fairly flat ground, leveling will be required. We do NOT recommend following GPS. Please see directions to the property and follow carefully to avoid driving around unnecessarily on narrow, winding roads.
