Thank you Hipcamp and all of the beautiful people whom we have the pleasure of hosting at Pooh’s Corner! It’s a new year, a new season of camping, and another opportunity to camp with us.
We hope you enjoy Pooh's Corner as much as we enjoy having all of you great Hipcampers sharing our beautiful Fingerlakes Region with us.
Pooh's Corner lies in a rural area just 1.5 miles from Watkins Glen. (3315 County Road 28, Watkins Glen, NY 14891). We took great care to make sure each campsite is PRIVATE (parking on-site*) and the trails are easily navigable. Our 'Welcome Shed' is equipped with a compost toilet, local information, (newly added) Hot Water Station, first-aid kit, charging station, bug spray etc. and is located in a safe, well lit, open area on the property. Each site is equipped with a fire pit and comfortable seating with tables, chairs, and/or picnic tables and tripod grills. Firewood is available on a donation basis.
There are State Parks and places to hike one of the many gorges around beautiful Seneca Lake and surrounding area. Take a tour of the many wineries and breweries which our region is famous for. Enjoy hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking, and many historical sites to see. Our reviews tell it all. We know you'll love it here :)
*PLEASE NOTE: Our sites are custom made for TENT or CAR camping. Because we have "parking on-site", Large RVs, Campers (over 16'), and any 5th-wheel campers are very difficult to place since there are no easy ways to back in or turn around. We highly recommend "Havana Glen State Park" (same general area) for those types of camping units.

Sweeping pastoral hillsides mixed with densely wooded private acres make our camps unique, each one offering a different experience. A developed network of our own marked trails for exploring, our private red slate swimming quarry with docks and seating, and catch release fishing at 2 ponds are a few things to enjoy here. Slate Valley Trails and Merck Forest are close by. Places to picnic, enjoy the sunset, and idle are a plenty. Our farm stand is stocked with seasonal produce, jams, eggs, and bagged ice. Spring water is available. Excellent locally burgers, steaks, chicken and more are available.

Towner's Country Paradise started out as a wild forest and pasture for cows in the 1940's, owned by Llewellyn Towner. In the 1960s, Llewellyn's love for aviation led him to construct a small airstrip and hangar, and then his son Terry began to plant Christmas Trees (no more cows) and clear much of the land. By the early 1970's our main and largest pond was built and since that time our fully functional cabin, several more fish ponds, roads, trails, running water and generated electricity have been added. This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby).
The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling.
Queen sized bed - we provide the linens.

Only a quick drive to Tannersville, Hunter, Windham, Palenville, Woodstock, Phoenicia, Catskill and Saugerties where you can explore the cute town, restaurants, and shops. The site is perched on the banks of the Roaring Kill Stream, perfect for swimming and fishing. There are also lots of flat areas to put additional tents. Great access to the Roaring Kill Trailhead and to the Devil's Path Hiking Trail. If you're looking for some water activities take a short drive to Colgate Lake. Site guidelines Do be careful driving on the dirt jeep track out to the camp. Don't miss swimming in the Roaring Kill Falls. Do leave the campsite just as you found it. "Don't feed the bears." Seriously, do keep a very clean camp. Do ask questions about local activities- swimming holes, hiking, etc. Please take all trash with you, leave no trace!

Hucklebuck Railway Campground was an amazing experience! Our family had the best time and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the campground and the surrounding area. Paula and Bill organized everything in such a thoughtful way that we had way we needed as novice campers. They were responsive whenever we needed anything and gave suggestions for places to view the abundant wildlife. My children and fur babies loved being next to the water most of all. Truly this is a hidden treasure and we’re already planning our next trip back! Again thank you Paula and Bill for your hospitality and accommodating our families every need!

I’m reluctant to recommend this place because I just want to keep this secret, incredible piece of paradise to myself. The privacy, views, and land transport you to another dimension. We had an incredible stay, will definitely be back. Keep in mind you need to store your trash in the car (bears) so bring thick bags, as well as a bear horn for peace of mind. The owners are kind and friendly people who really take care of the land. If you’re lucky enough to stay here, please treat it with the same care and respect.

Absolutely stunning views and a pristine campsite made for a peaceful, relaxing weekend. Oak Tree is a beautiful open field with plenty of space for a pup to run to their heart’s content. Firewood at the site and a clean, well kept outhouse tucked away in the corner so it’s not right in the middle of your site. Heather was incredibly welcoming and responsive. I can’t wait to visit again!

The campsite was exactly what we were looking for. The perfect private escape in the heart of the Catskills. The land was so well maintained, the tent and all the gear were also great.

We loved camping on John and AC's land! It was absolutely beautiful, the creek is amazing, and the site is so well maintained we had a hard time finding smores sticks! AC kindly showed us around the site and after that point, the site felt totally private. Despite some afternoon rain it was easy to enjoy and relax. Could not recommend this site highly enough!

If you’ve found this spot & you’re thinking it looks great, you’re almost right, but I guarantee you it’s even better than you can imagine. From the typography of the land, to the casual but kind hosts, you will enjoy every second of being there. The only thing you should be worried about is if your dates are available. Photos don’t do it justice which in my opinion is always a good thing. Thank you for sharing your special spot Heather 💚

I stayed at the Ridgeline spot with just my tent, and I didn't want to leave!! I am grateful to have had the opportunity to use Heather's land as a way to restore, reset, and find peace. Having the covered pergola, firewood, a table, outhouse, and lots of chairs was such a huge upgrade to have as someone who loves to tent. I went out everyday to do a hike/ bike and it was fun to choose either the Adirondack area or the Green Mountain area as options. I also loved bumping into Heather from time to time and seeing what she harvested for the day. She was so kind, and the land is so well taken care of. I hope to be back :-)

Our hosts were wonderful. What a magical piece of land they have. Using the footbridge their outhouse and shower was a quick walk from the site. It was such a fun building! This was a great spot to explore around the finger lakes. if we are in the area again we will definitely be back. Everything was so peaceful and private. Exactly what we were looking for.

This cabin was the perfect retreat from a long drive! While my location was rustic and lacked running water, I had everything I needed (the bed was comfy, the fire pit was beautiful, and there was even an fully charged fan!). The cabin was clean and beautifully simple - my dog and I were both thrilled.
Advice: Bring along a headlamp and simple shoes to slip into at night (for when you need to use the outhouse). Also, consider bringing some additional lighting for inside the cabin at night. Finally, be sure to have plenty of drinking water with you. You can shower at the main house, but all other water needs are up to you.

Beachwood was much more than we had hoped for: from the genuine peacefulness of the space to the being able to go on a quick hike right from the campsite. The site is absolutely perfect for car camping with a well-fitted, and well-maintained, camping area that also has a compost outhouse, fire pit, rocking chair (super cool), and picnic table.
We purchased some eggs and ground beef from the farm, which made for eggcellent breakfast and scrumptious burgers.
While there is a lot of different outdoor activities in the area, it's also a great site to just stay put and bask in nature.
We genuinely can't wait to stay again!

Everything was stunning and the hosts were so helpful! I had a few questions on check-in and they got me sorted out right away. The place was absolutely stunning, wayyy bigger than I had anticipated. The views and trails were lovely - I’ve already told so many people how great it was.
