The Point

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents8 acres · Gouldsboro, ME
The Point is located in Gouldsboro, in Downeast Maine on the Schoodic Peninsula near the Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park on occupied Wabanaki land. The point is our home, offered to guests as a place for seekers of peace and solace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us. A priority here for me is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save and protect our natural environment and keep it natural and wild can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of you. We aim to prove that hipcamp can be a magical experience for private landowners and campers alike, to provide a means of temporal community and beneficial alternative to traditional campgrounds; one that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain. Please be mindful of the trash you generate and mindful of the noise you are making— we aim to provide seekers of peace a *quiet* time in nature. Together we are here to be an example to others of what mindful camping can look like in this changing world. Thanks for caring to come, see, explore, learn and being apart of the solution! <3 We hope to hear from you <3

Birch Point Farm

3 sites · Lodging, Tents4 acres · Machiasport, ME
We welcome campers to the beautiful land where we live, a wooded 4 acres on "Birch Point" which juts into the lively salt-water Machias Bay. Your hosts, Lucy and Tyler, are homesteading musicians, currently developing a biodynamic community farm and garden project, with our off-grid house still in construction. Please be aware that you will be entering a *working farm*, full of life! Your stay with us is bound to be social and lively at times. There are places on the land that offer privacy, yet overall it is a cozy and intimate setting. We greatly welcome feedback for being the best homesteader-hosts we can be. ----------------------------------------------------------------- *2024 SUMMER SEASON INFO* - We have a hand-pump on our well that you can use for your fresh water supply 💦 There is no shower or bath option at this time (other than a fresh dip in the bay!) - Our state-of-the-primitive-art out house is available for your use 🌙 tucked into the woods along the path to the overlook and bay beach. - At this time we do *not* have firewood available for sale. If you plan to make a fire in the fire pit (which is 100% welcome!) please bring wood and kindling with you 🔥 - The walk down to the flat rock beach is erosion-prone. Please be aware of your steps and tread lightly to help us keep the natural moss and ground cover in tact! 🌱 --------------------------------------------------------------- Mostly wooded with small clearings, this land is a comfortable camping environment. There is a common fire pit in view of the ocean, glinting through the trees. Wild animals, like deer and foxes, and many bird species abound, filling the land with life and song. We’re so grateful to live on this piece of paradise, and wish to share the beauty and magic of the land with you! On the bold coast of Downeast Maine, we offer (a) tent sites in a grove of young maple trees, and (b) a canvas bell tent atop a wooden platform with a double-mattress. Both of these options are easily accessible from the parking area. A short saunter through the woods will bring you to an open water vista, overlooking a tidal bay fed by the Machias River. These are very refreshing (chilly!) and strong tidal waters. There are also beautiful (warmer) lakes and many hiking trails nearby, notably the Cutler Bold Coast Trail with epic seaside cliffs. Expect the area to be relatively buggy in summer months, and prepare to do head-to-toe tick checks! We’re about a 10 minute drive from the town of Machias where you can fill up on supply and provisioning needs. We're about 30 minutes from Lubec and 50 minutes from Eastport, two lovely seaside towns with art galleries, cafés, restaurants, and abundant coastal view points. We look forward to welcoming you and your close ones soon for a visit on Birch Point :-)

Desert Island. See what our other guests have had to say about their stays-“It’s an experience I would repeat with pleasure. Difficult to be short about my highlights: hearing the loon at night certainly, waking up with the quarter moon over my head, seeing the progression in changing colors of the leaves, the views from Mount Cadillac, and Beech Wood trail, Jordan Pond and the Bubbles,so many things really.” - Christine from Montpelier, France, Sept 2021."We were so at peace when we got here we just spent the rest of the day hanging at the yurt enjoying the peace and quiet today we are heading to the ocean!"- Jody from New Hampshire, July 2021."We could not have found a more idyllic place, plus it was our first experience in a yurt. We found your notes about Acadia super helpful and the yurt was just so beautiful and cozy. Having a hot bath and a little fire in the wood stove after a day of biking the Carriage Roads and swimming at Sand Beach could not have been more perfect. So glad we were at the yurt to enjoy the area and Acadia. We had an incredible stay and are hoping to come back next summer."- Jenn & Neil, August 2020.
