You'll arrive at our barn and home, probably greeted by a variety of animals.
Walking past the house and through the field towards the tree line, you'll arrive at our tiny cabin situated on a hill with the salt marsh below.
The cabin is furnished with a full sized bed, a wooden bench, beehive working woodstove, and shelving. There are candle lanterns provided, however we suggest also bringing a few flashlights.
Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin.
A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor.
The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sunsets. We access the water and trails around the fields foraging for berries with our kiddos and dogs, along with rotating the grazing animals though we will provide ample space to respect your privacy.
A small gas grill and cooler can be provided.
Cabin has no electric or running water. Water can be accessed from the main house and/or barn pumps depending on season, however will need to be brought down to cabin. Outhouse is located nearby.

Unplug, recharge, and get away from all the hustle & bustle. We do have a TV for the occasional rainy-day movie, with 2 comfy recliners in the loft. Spend the day exploring Ellsworth, Bar Harbor or Downeast, hiking one of the many trails or mountains we have nearby, or hang out here swimming, paddling, fishing or napping.
Regardless of what you do during the day you will find Sunrise Shores Hideaway very restful, calm and welcoming when you return. With a full kitchen to cook some delicious Maine food and a spa-like bathroom to soak in the tub or shower before you head to bed, you will be well rested and ready for the next adventure.
The downstairs bedroom has black out shades and a closet to hang your clothes. The upstairs bedroom has dresser for your clothes, a skylight for stargazing as you drift off to sleep and eye masks if the moon is too bright or you want to sleep past sunrise.
I guarantee you will want to be up having a cup of coffee on the deck watching the show the sunrise puts on.

This is a one room cabin with covered porch. There is no electricity and a porti potty is used for a bathroom. It is serviced on a weekly basis. There is limited hot and cold non potable water to be used for doing dishes, and hygiene purposes. Water is supplied via a handpump and a 12volt solar power system from a dug well just in front of the cabin. The cabin is very comfortable with two people, but capable of sleeping 3 especially if one is a child. There is access to a natural boiling spring locate about 3/4 mile away from the cabin (directions included in the "Arrival" paperwork. There is also an outside shower with limited hot and cold water.
The Cabin is located at mile 7.5 of the Downeast Sunrise Trail which is a 83 mile multi-use corridor trail from Ellsworth to Pembroke Maine. We are ATV, and Bicycle friendly. Pets are allowed but their hair and messes must be taken care of. It is only 12 miles to Ellsworth and 30 miles to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but still feels like the middle of nowhere.
We do not include towels, shampoo and personal grooming items, or pillows/linens for the beds. There are mattress covers on the bed with a comforter. This is an off Grid Experience.
The kitchen is adequately equipped for cooking and refrigeration w a propane refrigerator and stove. Gas lights are used for lighting at night.
Keep in mind this is a remote cabin but so close to Acadia National Park and other amenities. There may be a mouse that sneaks in. There may be insects (mosquitos, black flies, ants etc.) It is not possible to be in the woods and experience its beauty in a camp without the chance of encountering nature. If your looking for a motel room then you should book one because this is not it. We offer a peaceful place that is thriving with nature and beauty. There is plenty of room in the yard for recreation and tenting.

Arbor Camp began in 2022, when three friends came together to build a quiet place in the woods. Wildlife is part of daily life here. Songbirds call from the canopy. Heron and eagles pass overhead. Deer move through the understory, and turkeys wander the clearings. Mushrooms—chanterelles, black trumpets, and others—rise through the forest floor in season.
From the start, the idea was simple: to create a place that feels good to step into. Each of us brought different experiences—design, building, creative work—but shared a clear vision: spaces that are well made, deeply comfortable, and in tune with their surroundings.

Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin.
A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor.
The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sunsets. We access the water and trails around the fields foraging for berries with our kiddos and dogs, along with rotating the grazing animals though we will provide ample space to respect your privacy.
A small gas grill and cooler can be provided.
Cabin has no electric or running water. Water can be accessed from the main house and/or barn pumps depending on season, however will need to be brought down to cabin. Outhouse is located nearby.

This is a one room cabin with covered porch. There is no electricity and a porti potty is used for a bathroom. It is serviced on a weekly basis. There is limited hot and cold non potable water to be used for doing dishes, and hygiene purposes. Water is supplied via a handpump and a 12volt solar power system from a dug well just in front of the cabin. The cabin is very comfortable with two people, but capable of sleeping 3 especially if one is a child. There is access to a natural boiling spring locate about 3/4 mile away from the cabin (directions included in the "Arrival" paperwork. There is also an outside shower with limited hot and cold water.
The Cabin is located at mile 7.5 of the Downeast Sunrise Trail which is a 83 mile multi-use corridor trail from Ellsworth to Pembroke Maine. We are ATV, and Bicycle friendly. Pets are allowed but their hair and messes must be taken care of. It is only 12 miles to Ellsworth and 30 miles to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but still feels like the middle of nowhere.
We do not include towels, shampoo and personal grooming items, or pillows/linens for the beds. There are mattress covers on the bed with a comforter. This is an off Grid Experience.
The kitchen is adequately equipped for cooking and refrigeration w a propane refrigerator and stove. Gas lights are used for lighting at night.
Keep in mind this is a remote cabin but so close to Acadia National Park and other amenities. There may be a mouse that sneaks in. There may be insects (mosquitos, black flies, ants etc.) It is not possible to be in the woods and experience its beauty in a camp without the chance of encountering nature. If your looking for a motel room then you should book one because this is not it. We offer a peaceful place that is thriving with nature and beauty. There is plenty of room in the yard for recreation and tenting.

I enjoyed my stay at Twin Bucks Cabin. It was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. An electric heater kept it warm even with temperatures at night in the upper 30s and there is also a secondary heater for when it gets really cold. You have electricity to keep all your things charged. There is no WiFi but with my cell carrier I had a good signal and could get online that way no problem. So it was warm, cozy and comfortable. Very quiet (with an occasional owl or loon calling!) And the hosts checked to see if I there was anything at all that I needed. Great place, great hosts!

Super helpful hosts and a nice Hipcamp. It is as advertised for the most part being a rustic cabin. We've stayed in many rustic cabins through Hipcamp.
A few things to note:
Even though there is a woodstove (we used every night to keep us warm) the cabin does not hold heat because the walls to the cabin have large gaps so we had to use 4 bundles of hardwood a night to keep it comfortable at night (temps in the 20° to mid 30°s) We were somewhat prepared because we knew it wasn't insulated but we were not expecting the amount of heat loss due to all the gaps in the cabin.
There are other campsites on the property which are a good distance away (some within sight) We got a little freaked out by a group of campers walking up to the cabin at 10:30 at night and waking us up. (Definitely not the host's fault) but just be aware it's not the most secluded.
Being in the cabin it was a little quieter but this spot is off a main road so there is a bit of noise from that but definitely not something that would completely deter me.
The host was very helpful when we mentioned that we'd like to drive up to the cabin. They told us we were not able to do that (I'd just suggest taking that as an option off the listing because we chose this site in part because of that having 4wd) but they offered to help us bring our stuff with another wagon attached to the owners tractor which was very nice.
The cabin is equipped with everything you would need for rustic camp: pots, pans, water, utensils.

Bill and Carol were excellent hosts! They made us feel very welcome and made sure we had enough firewood to stay warm. The downeast is a stunning location to visit. Bill and Carols location is just 30mins from Cutler coast, machiasport, eastport and everything in between! lots of nature to explore and some great restauraunts too! definately a great location off the beaten path with more than you expect to be offered. I stayed one night at Carol's cabin and enjoyed it a lot. It's peaceful and the two bucks are there too, which is funny and gives a sense of history to the place. With electricity to recharge your phone, wood to start a fire, a barbecue to cook and heat to warm the chilly nights, you'll have all you need to be happy in the woods. Carol is very responsive and can tell you what to do in the area depending on your interests.

We loved camping on Carols property. The cabin was cozy with 2 twin beds that were comfy. She provides some reading material so you get to know the area and have some ideas of what to do. The night time was super quiet, there are no sounds other than the sound of a loon calling from a across the water. If you want to get away from it all and find some peace I would recommend staying at Twin Bucks. Carol was very responsive and accommodating. We plan on staying again in the very near future!

1 night at Balsam Hill Cabins
We loved Sienna’s sweet lodging in the woodsy glen, and stayed an extra day to enjoy it. She was responsive and helpful throughout our stay and has thought of every detail inside the cabin and around- the bed was very comfortable, the outdoor shower delightful and we kept the side lifted for most of the day. We will definitely return and are telling all our friends about this wonderful spot!

The cabin is situated in a beautiful little woodland and is incredibly peaceful. There was no road noise and only the sound of crickets and loons broke the silence.

1 night at Balsam Hill Cabins
I enjoyed staying in the cabin but unfortunately it was a one night stay and that one night was a big rain storm. Since I came in on a motorcycle and was already drenched it kind of hindered my ability to really enjoy everything this place had to offer. While I was stuck inside the cabin I found it incredibly clean, comfortable, and well appointed. I was surprised by the lack of bugs present seeing as there are many ways for them to get in as there are lots of gaps between the wood siding. I hope to return when I can enjoy the firepit and outdoor area another time.
The rain did provide a wonderful soundtrack to sleep to and the kitchen is well stocked with all you need to cook with.

2 nights at Graham Cracker Cabin and Campsites
Tent sites are well spaced, and the Graham Cracker Cabin is in the center of it all. Paths in the field are well mowed and the cabin was clean and open when I arrived.
The cabin does get quite warm during the day so leaving the doors open was a big help to get a breeze going through. At night there was enough of a cross breeze down in the main room to make sleeping comfortable. The loft was too warm for sleeping in August.
Mornings were lovely and quiet, and I snuck a small bowl of blueberries from the low bushes along the path to go with breakfast.
Overall a lovely location that gets quiet at night so you can hear the chorus of frogs in the brook.

cute little camping cabin for a quick one night stay. loved the surrounding area, it was very peaceful (aside for the haunted owl hooing all night 😅). we were having trouble finding the boat launch but the host was super responsive & made sure we found it! would come again & recommend, thanks so much!
