This charming cabin sits on 7 private acres with direct access to the Downeast Sunrise Trail. Nestled on a well-maintained private dirt road, the property offers privacy and easy outdoor access. The cabin is located just a 9-mile drive to Ellsworth for dining and services, and 22 miles to Acadia National Park for world-class hiking and scenic drives. This is a true off-grid experience — there is no electricity, running water, or internet at the cabin. ⚠️ Please Read All Details Before Booking Water: Inside water dispensers - water is drinkable and from the well at our home, which has been tested and meets all standards for safety Outside water dispensers - water is for dishes and showering only Lighting: We provide a variety of solar lights and battery powered lights that will be charged for outside and inside use Solar lights are weather dependent* There are also mini battery operated lanterns by the kitchen sink You will also find charged lamps in the bedroom on the nightstand - tap the top to turn on There are a variety of lights in the bathroom and kitchen area that will be helpful We always recommend that guests bring their own flashlights for use if necessary Showering: Heat bathing water on the stove (not too hot!!) Transfer water from pot to bucket in shower Turn pump on and fully submerge in bucket Turn the shower head on and enjoy Indoor Toilet Info: We offer an indoor composting toilet system After each use put a generous layer of wood chips on top - this will help with odor Repeat as needed, and always cover with a generous amount of shavings If you want a clean bucket during your stay, empty into the outdoor outhouse pit Rinse and return the bucket to inside bathroom Always start with a layer of wood shavings, before use If you don’t want a clean bucket, please keep using the shavings and we will empty after you depart *If the indoor shaving bucket gets low, please refill from the big garbage bag in the outhouse Outhouse Info: During your stay, please sprinkle a cup or two of lime in the outhouse “pit” This helps to keep the odor down, and to break down the material No internet provided Cell service may be available depending on your carrierExperience a true Maine adventure. Designed for unplugging and reconnecting this secluded getaway invites you to slow down and savor the simplicity of off-grid living. The cabin has no running water, electric or internet. We provide 20 gallons of water for dishes and solar shower bag - charged lamps and solar twinkle lights will be on-site. Indoor bucket/compost system along with outdoor outhouse. Full propane stove along with full refrigerator and freezer. Available year-round for long or short stays. The cabin sleeps 2, however (1) additional guest during warm weather is possible with futon on the porch. More guests can be accommodated on property in tents for additional fee. Firewood provided, firepit, private. Firewood provided for stays under 2 weeks. Arrangements can be made for wood for longer stays for an additional fee. All rules for fires must be adhered to and owner retains the right to enforce fire ban depending on conditions.

Pit toilet, composting toilet. Indoor bucket/shavings compostable toilet, and outdoor outhouse

Pets allowed

On leash. Pets should be leashed. Any damages to neighbors livestock will be your responsibility. Do not leave your pet unattended in or outside at any time - wildlife is abundant and skunks, porcupines, bobcat and pets do not mix. For your pet's safety, please keep them leashed. Thank you!
