You'll arrive at our barn and home, probably greeted by a variety of animals.
Walking past the house and through the field towards the tree line, you'll arrive at our tiny cabin situated on a hill with the salt marsh below.
The cabin is furnished with a full sized bed, a wooden bench, beehive working woodstove, and shelving. There are candle lanterns provided, however we suggest also bringing a few flashlights.
Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin.
A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor.
The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sunsets. We access the water and trails around the fields foraging for berries with our kiddos and dogs, along with rotating the grazing animals though we will provide ample space to respect your privacy.
A small gas grill and cooler can be provided.
Cabin has no electric or running water. Water can be accessed from the main house and/or barn pumps depending on season, however will need to be brought down to cabin. Outhouse is located nearby.

A very sweet and rustic Hemlock cabin, along with secluded 17' and 14" bell tents, plus 2 private campsites sit along beautiful Webb Brook. Each year we expand on this campground until it's full vision is a reality. For 2026 we have a few campsites, some have platforms, some without. The plan this year is to add a cabin, woodshed, bathroom and work on the trail system. Each campsite has a buffer of vegetation with the lake as a view, a fire pit and space to have more than one tent. There will be a camp style toilet. There's no running water, not much cell service, no electricity. Park at the main road and bring your camping items into the woods. Your site will be labeled. Trash in, trash out. Firewood for sale, camping gear for rent. Canoe and walk the beach (if low levels). Dog friendly: must be friendly, on a leash and please be mindful of dogs digging. Sunflower Ranch is the name of our home and property.
Not only is our cozy, modest house sunflower yellow but in August it is surrounded with sunflowers of all sizes.
We share our property with a flock of sweet hens and ducks.....and a few bossy roosters.
Eggs are available for purchase if needed. There is a little greenhouse with herbs, greens and strawberries. The field is also an apple orchard that mostly feeds the wildlife. The tent site is privately placed in our cove unseen from the house.
We wanted to offer a site that we would enjoy as well and feels like it is
in a world of its own. We spend all of our free time outside, camping and paddling the local rivers and lakes. Tommy and I can recommend many beautiful remote Maine adventures for you to experience that are located off the grid and away from all other humans.
The sweet city of Ellsworth is only 7 miles away for all of your provisions and Otis General Store is 1 mile away.. they have everything to get you through plus beer, wine, ice and homemade pizza. We can give you a pass to visit the Beech Hill Pond Beach also only 1 mile away (I walk there all the time)
which has clear water and a
sandy bottom. Great spot to spend the day sunbathing and swimming.
I can offer yoga, personal training, boxing and paddleboard lessons or SUP yoga for some onsite physical fitness fun upon request.

The cabin is very comfortable with two people, but capable of sleeping 3 especially if one is a child. There is access to a natural boiling spring locate about 3/4 mile away from the cabin (directions included in the "Arrival" paperwork. There is also an outside shower with limited hot and cold water.
The Cabin is located at mile 7.5 of the Downeast Sunrise Trail which is a 83 mile multi-use corridor trail from Ellsworth to Pembroke Maine. We are ATV, and Bicycle friendly. Pets are allowed but their hair and messes must be taken care of. It is only 12 miles to Ellsworth and 30 miles to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but still feels like the middle of nowhere.
We do not include towels, shampoo and personal grooming items, or pillows/linens for the beds. There are mattress covers on the bed with a comforter. This is an off Grid Experience.
The kitchen is adequately equipped for cooking and refrigeration w a propane refrigerator and stove. Gas lights are used for lighting at night.
Keep in mind this is a remote cabin but so close to Acadia National Park and other amenities. There may be a mouse that sneaks in. There may be insects (mosquitos, black flies, ants etc.) It is not possible to be in the woods and experience its beauty in a camp without the chance of encountering nature. If your looking for a motel room then you should book one because this is not it. We offer a peaceful place that is thriving with nature and beauty. There is plenty of room in the yard for recreation and tenting.

You'll arrive at our barn and home, probably greeted by a variety of animals.
Walking past the house and through the field towards the tree line, you'll arrive at our tiny cabin situated on a hill with the salt marsh below.
The cabin is furnished with a full sized bed, a wooden bench, beehive working woodstove, and shelving. There are candle lanterns provided, however we suggest also bringing a few flashlights.
Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin.
A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor.
The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sunsets. We share our property with a flock of sweet hens and ducks.....and a few bossy roosters.
Eggs are available for purchase if needed. There is a little greenhouse with herbs, greens and strawberries. The field is also an apple orchard that mostly feeds the wildlife. The tent site is privately placed in our cove unseen from the house.

Please use eco-friendly soap for all dishes and body washing in the lake or in the field. Pets are welcome on a leash. We also have one dog on the property.
Wi-Fi may be spotty, but information on connecting is provided in each cabin. You may need to get closer to the garage or house for better service. There is a small free library on the property with a few games you can borrow and return at no charge—perfect for a rainy evening. Be prepared for Maine’s environment and bring bug spray. Firewood is available for sale on the property.

Trailside Camp is 20X20 off grid Cabin located on West Brook Meadow in Franklin Maine. It has direct access at mile 7.5 of the Downeast Sunrise Trail. Exceptional meadow sunset views for watching Deer, Bear, Birds, Beavers and many other critters that roam the area. There is no electricity, and limited running water. It is equipped with propane stove and fridge. There is a porta potti on site
This is a one room cabin with covered porch. There is no electricity and a porti potty is used for a bathroom. It is serviced on a weekly basis. There is limited hot and cold non potable water to be used for doing dishes, and hygiene purposes. Water is supplied via a handpump and a 12volt solar power system from a dug well just in front of the cabin. The cabin is very comfortable with two people, but capable of sleeping 3 especially if one is a child. There is access to a natural boiling spring locate about 3/4 mile away from the cabin (directions included in the "Arrival" paperwork. There is also an outside shower with limited hot and cold water.
The Cabin is located at mile 7.5 of the Downeast Sunrise Trail which is a 83 mile multi-use corridor trail from Ellsworth to Pembroke Maine. We are ATV, and Bicycle friendly. Pets are allowed but their hair and messes must be taken care of. It is only 12 miles to Ellsworth and 30 miles to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but still feels like the middle of nowhere.
We do not include towels, shampoo and personal grooming items, or pillows/linens for the beds. There are mattress covers on the bed with a comforter. This is an off Grid Experience.
The kitchen is adequately equipped for cooking and refrigeration w a propane refrigerator and stove. Gas lights are used for lighting at night.
Keep in mind this is a remote cabin but so close to Acadia National Park and other amenities. There may be a mouse that sneaks in. There may be insects (mosquitos, black flies, ants etc.) It is not possible to be in the woods and experience its beauty in a camp without the chance of encountering nature. If your looking for a motel room then you should book one because this is not it. We offer a peaceful place that is thriving with nature and beauty. There is plenty of room in the yard for recreation and tenting.

We stayed in the writers cabin in the middle of chilly mud season and it was still magical! The wood stove kept us plenty warm and we loved the candles. It felt perfectly secluded and yet not too far off the path that we couldn’t make it to Acadia to hike. Will definitely be returning!

Weekend Trip to Graham Cracker Cabin and Campsites
This was my first Hipcamp and it was great. The cabin had everything we needed and though it definitely got cold, as we were visiting in mid-November, a fire and plenty of blankets kept us warm through the nights. This is a lovely little camping and so peaceful!

I enjoyed my stay at Twin Bucks Cabin. It was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. An electric heater kept it warm even with temperatures at night in the upper 30s and there is also a secondary heater for when it gets really cold. You have electricity to keep all your things charged. There is no WiFi but with my cell carrier I had a good signal and could get online that way no problem. So it was warm, cozy and comfortable. Very quiet (with an occasional owl or loon calling!) And the hosts checked to see if I there was anything at all that I needed. Great place, great hosts!

Lily’s A frame was absolutely perfect! She had it stocked with miscellaneous camping supplies which helped lighten the car load and short walk from the car to the A Frame. The sunset views were stunning, and sleeping to the sound of the waves was such a treat. An accommodating way to “camp” as the temps were getting cold!

Such a cool spot! We booked it for 2 nights of our camping trip to have a place to hang out with possible rain in the forecast and planned to spend the first evening by the campfire. We arrived after dark and were warmly greeted by the host. He gave our dog Mabel a pat and let us know that he'd be just up the road if we needed anything, and even left us some firewood! I immediately felt at home stepping into the airstream, the heater already running and the lights left on for us. The trailer was clean and had some awesome vintage photos and picture books on display. The beds were clean and comfortable, and Mabel immediately claimed the twin bed for herself! It didn't rain that night but the airstream was so cozy we decided to skip the fire and go straight to the "back up plan" of snuggling up with the pup to watch a movie on the tablet. The next morning we headed for a hike at boot head, only a 15 minute drive away and saw some absolutely breathtaking views! We came back to the airstream for our campfire and had a blast...that's about when the rain showed up. I wasn't even disappointed, the sound of the rain hitting the metal roof was just as good as the crackling of a campfire. We absolutely loved our stay here! Thank you for the amazing memories!

Super helpful hosts and a nice Hipcamp. It is as advertised for the most part being a rustic cabin. We've stayed in many rustic cabins through Hipcamp.
A few things to note:
Even though there is a woodstove (we used every night to keep us warm) the cabin does not hold heat because the walls to the cabin have large gaps so we had to use 4 bundles of hardwood a night to keep it comfortable at night (temps in the 20° to mid 30°s) We were somewhat prepared because we knew it wasn't insulated but we were not expecting the amount of heat loss due to all the gaps in the cabin.
There are other campsites on the property which are a good distance away (some within sight) We got a little freaked out by a group of campers walking up to the cabin at 10:30 at night and waking us up. (Definitely not the host's fault) but just be aware it's not the most secluded.
Being in the cabin it was a little quieter but this spot is off a main road so there is a bit of noise from that but definitely not something that would completely deter me.
The host was very helpful when we mentioned that we'd like to drive up to the cabin. They told us we were not able to do that (I'd just suggest taking that as an option off the listing because we chose this site in part because of that having 4wd) but they offered to help us bring our stuff with another wagon attached to the owners tractor which was very nice.
The cabin is equipped with everything you would need for rustic camp: pots, pans, water, utensils.

The bathroom and shower (with real hot water) felt luxurious. The kitchen looked great, though we were so busy trekking in Acadia that we didn't really use it; we opted for local diners and brunch spots. It is very easy to find, no matter how late or dark it is, because it is really just off Route 1. The tent and surrounding areas were super clean, and you just needed to sit and enjoy the beautiful water view.

Loved the seclusion of the site. Views are amazing and we got the best sunsets. Loved hiking around the preserve and down to Schoodic point. A frame is well equipped and quiet even with some windy nights. Bed was a bit small for me plus wife, but any larger would be tough to fit in the cabin I presume; would stay again!

Bill and Carol were excellent hosts! They made us feel very welcome and made sure we had enough firewood to stay warm. The downeast is a stunning location to visit. Bill and Carols location is just 30mins from Cutler coast, machiasport, eastport and everything in between! lots of nature to explore and some great restauraunts too! definately a great location off the beaten path with more than you expect to be offered. We will be back!

Secluded. Loved this space. Even though they warned not to get there at night, we did… path is an adventure but follow it, you’ll eventually get there. Will be easier without the wheel barrel! Can hear traffic speeding by in distance but didn’t mind. Outhouse is the cleanest I’ve used. Yurt is a great size. Walk to lake and take the kayaks out. Don’t skip it.

The a frame at The Point is magical. We just visited for our 5th year in a row. Stay a few nights. Be there for sunset every night. Enjoy the water as it comes up to your fire pit and enjoy walking along the beach as the tide goes out. Be prepared to see the stars like you never have before. We look forward to returning again.
