The Point

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents8 acres · Gouldsboro, ME
The Point is located in Gouldsboro, in Downeast Maine on the Schoodic Peninsula near the Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park on occupied Wabanaki land. The point is our home, offered to guests as a place for seekers of peace and solace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us. A priority here for me is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save and protect our natural environment and keep it natural and wild can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of you. We aim to prove that hipcamp can be a magical experience for private landowners and campers alike, to provide a means of temporal community and beneficial alternative to traditional campgrounds; one that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain. Please be mindful of the trash you generate and mindful of the noise you are making— we aim to provide seekers of peace a *quiet* time in nature. Together we are here to be an example to others of what mindful camping can look like in this changing world. Thanks for caring to come, see, explore, learn and being apart of the solution! <3 We hope to hear from you <3

Loon Point Cabin and Camp Site

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Millinocket, ME
This cabin was built by the original owners in the 1960's as a temporary shelter. They never got around to building a more permanent dwelling and instead used it for many years as a rustic camp site. We purchased the land and the cabin 10 years ago. Rather than tear down the old cabin we began rehabbing it 2020 to enjoy ourselves and share with others. We were in the process of building a new modern camp on the property but had a major fire there in the fall of 2022 totally burning the new house and the surrounding trees. We are in the process of cleaning that up but you will se the evidence of the fire when you arrive. Fortunately it will not affect your experience at the cabin. We love this location and we think you will too. Learn more about this land: Enjoy the privacy of a rustic cabin 10 feet from the shore of Amabjejus Lake. Take in gorgeous sunsets on this west facing waterfront looking across the lake to the historic Ambajejus Boom House. Listen to loons at night and see bald eagles flying overhead during the day. The cabin is furnished with a full size bed and a toddler bed, a table and 4 chairs. A mattress pad and fitted sheet will be provided but you will need to bring your own linens or sleeping bags and pillows. There is a picnic table, fire ring and a tent site for up to a 4 person tent. There is an outhouse which you will share with the owner if present. This cabin was built in the 1960's by the original landowner to be a temporary shelter. We purchased the land 10 years ago and are in the process of building a larger camp on this 1 acre property. You will have your own private waterfront area. There is a also a small sandy beach and a swim dock that you are welcome to use but may share with owners if they are on the property. Canoes, paddles and lifejackets are available to use. The southern entrance to Baxter State Park is only 10 miles away. The owners will be sensitive to your privacy but may be working on the property nearby during your stay. Guests are limited to 4 people. We love children and have 5 of our own. If you are a couple with more than 2 children (or a single parent with more than 3) please contact us. We would love to accomodate you if possible. One final note. In November 2022 we suffered a fire to the main structure that we were building on the property. As a result campers who come in 2023 will see a foundation and evidence of burned trees around the location of the burned building. The cabin and surrounding area suffered no damage and there will be no change to the appearance and view of your stay except going to and from your vehicle. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

I will leave a couple of gallons to get you started! -Really big storms can cause reservations to sometimes be rescheduled but I always honor date changes or refunds due to storms. -Extreme Cold Weather: When temperatures fall to 15 degrees or below, we recommend that you use the propane heater in the bunk room along with the woodstove in the great room. It will be necessary for you to feed the wood stove every couple of hours. -Attention Snowmobilers: You may have to unload your snowmobiles at the bottom of the hill to get your trucks up the hill with trailers hitched. Drinking the well water is at your own risk. Bugs: This is mosquito and tick country. Use bug spray and do tick checks twice a day during spring, summer and fall. Pets: Dogs are welcome. PLEASE do not leave dogs unattended and alone in the cabin. Please toss poop into the woods. Smoking: Cigarette smoking is allowed OUTSIDE the cabin. Cannabis smoking is allowed inside the cabin. Trash: It would be appreciated if you took your own trash, but if that is not possible, you may leave all of your food garbage and trash in the cabin at check-out and we will dispose of it for you. We request that food garbage or food scraps are NEVER left outside. Wildlife: Please do not feed the bears or any other wildlife, including birds, squirrels, fox, deer, coyote or anything you may see here at Ridgeview Cabin. Feeding wildlife results in a negative impact on the lives and environment of the animals, including possible death or extermination of the animals, and presents a potential risk to your safety. Feeding animals means intentionally leaving food out for them, or even simply leaving a bag of garbage outside where animals can get into it. This means that taking care of your food garbage is extremely important. You are welcome to use the garbage bags found in the cabin. If you must remove food garbage from the cabin, please store it in your vehicle until check-out. Never store trash or food scraps outside. Keep it down for the locals: There are year round residents uphill and downhill of the cabin within half a mile. Please be respectful of their quality of life and refrain from long sessions of target practice, aggressive snowmobile/4-wheeler riding around the cabin/up and down the road, yelling and loud music after 8PM and before 8AM.

Sandy Beach Camp

1 site · Lodging2 acres · Osborn, ME
Small 1 bedroom camp with queen sized bed. There is a day bed with trundle in the living room for additional sleeping spaces. Amenities include generator for power, propane stove and fridge, gas grill and gas griddle, Kayaks and canoe, and more. The camp sits on a hill overlooking spectacle pond through the trees. The area around the camp is flat and great for yard games etc. There is a very short trail (a few hundred feet) down to the sandy frontage. The water is shallow for a few hundred feet before it gets deeper so it's great for kids to play in or adults to move their chairs into and sit in the water. Pitch a tent by the water or set up a small camper in the yard for extra sleeping space. There is a nice outhouse on site. We are working on lake drawn running water but you may or may or not have it for your stay. Plan to not have it, please. This place is a lot like camping with some of the comforts of home.
