I really enjoyed my time at Site 10 at Paradise Valley Homestead. I walked in since I have a sedan and Kathleen was quick to greet me and show me a shortcut since there weren’t any other campers at the time. Heed the warning a high clearance vehicle is required to drive to Site 10, but it’s an easy walk if you are accustomed to backpacking or packing light. Site 10 is close enough to the waterfall to hear from your tent and eases you to sleep. The trails were well maintained and clearly marked. There was a storm that rolled through and Kathleen was kind enough to make sure I was managing okay. It’s a nice little get away and Kathleen was a very kind and welcoming host.

It was a pleasure to Camp in Kathleen's property. Beautiful hiking trails, and pond / waterfall. We forgot the frame for the tent and she provided a fix for us. She was amazing. I truly recommend it. She was very attentive to all our needs and I cannot recommend it enough!

We stayed on site 3. The campsite was big and easy to find. Bathrooms and potable water are within a short walk. Kathleen is a great host, came to check if we needed anything. Something to keep in mind as always when camping, know what poison IVY looks like and spray for bugs and ticks. We had a pop up tent with bug screens to cover our table and eating area. I highly recommend it.

When I arrived Kathleen was busy stacking firewood! Perfect timing because I needed wood anyway. She has $5 and $10 "bundles". I went for two $10 ones. I found my site just up the road easily enough (site 5) and pulled my Jeep in and admired the spacious spot. My goal for this solo trip was to try hammock camping. There are plenty of trees to choose from. The site was clean and the provided fire ring makes it convenient to move it to a better location if needed. This site is semi secluded as you can kinda see vehicles drive on the road. I did some exploring and found she has more remote sites that I would at least try with a SUV or better a yet a 4×4. There was a primitive toilet right across the road. It is a composting model complete with tree shavings you scoop in after you are finished. Amazingly clean and oder free. I would definitely return as it a 30 min drive for me.

1 night at Paradise Valley Homestead

Kathleen was a great host—super friendly and made us feel welcome. The site was really well kept, flat and level with lots of space to spread out. There’s a nice little walk to a waterfall nearby, which was a great bonus. Firewood was available for a small fee, and the outhouse was clean and close by. Just a heads-up: the last mile or so is unpaved, so take it slow. Overall, a peaceful spot and a great stay!

Weekend Trip to Paradise Valley Homestead

We had a great stay. It was raining almost a one whole day but we really enjoyed our stay. It was our first time camping with our 1y/old and it was great. The camp ground was nice pretty level and Sunny (when it wasn’t raining). Site was clean and the fire pit with the grill top was a great touch! The waterfall walk was nice and they even had a kids trail along a little creek. We look forward to coming back soon :) Kate was super friendly and welcoming. Always willing to answer questions and very proactive to bring up key points about the property that will help us during our stay. Thanks again! Cheers!

Beautiful property! Kathy was warm, welcoming, and excited to share her 45 acres of land surrounded by protected watershed land. The sites were huge and peaceful and if I find myself in this area again I will be sure to book a spot here.

The grounds are beautiful. The water has fish and Tyler was great. He helped sort out a hiccup w our neighbors who forgot that blasting loud music in 150 feet from others at bedtime is rude. He even jumped my truck when my kiddo left the lights on!

Spent a birthday weekend here at the end of April with 9 friends. While the Spring weather was iffy, the site and layout was AMAZING. There is nighttime lighting, paths, chairs and benches, a very clean and well-supplied bathroom, and a bunch else I can't rattle off. The river is beautiful and quiet, seems to be a couple turns downstream from the town so it's out of the sound of the road. Sarah the host was BEYOND generous and amazing. Had some issues that were resolved so far above what I could have imagined, she is truly a gem which is reflected in the beauty of the campsite! Sorry, meant to say but I was at Site 1!

Paradise Valley Homestead

Always working on improvements! My second glamping site "The Medieval Encampment", is available for booking starting April 1st of 2025. I will have more pictures soon. In April of 2024, my long awaited 1st Glamping site was available for booking. It's been very popular! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. I also have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. There are 3 compost toilet outhouses spread out through the property, so it's an easy walking distance from any site. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

The meadow we occupy was once the farmers property that I grew up next to at my parents farm house. When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here. We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site. We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same. It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property. We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped. Located 50 miles from midtown Manhattan (approx 1:08 minutes) is our brand new campsite located right off the Appalachian Trail. The camp is at the base of Wawayanda mountain right between the iconic hikes "Stairway to Heaven" and "Pochuck Boardwalk" on the Appalachian Trail. Hike right from camp up to "Pinwheel Vista" (named one of NJ's best viewpoints!) At the entrance to the property is the Valley Farmers Cooperative that sells local grass fed meats and artisanal farm goods. You can walk two minutes to Heaven Hill Farm which has plenty of goods, produce, and fun fall activities like pumpkin picking and haunted hayrides. About 10 minutes down 94 is the beautiful town of Warwick or about 4 minutes in the opposite direction is the town of Vernon. Warwick is a quaint small town with plenty of great restaurants and bars, and famous for its apple picking. Vernon has plenty to offer as well including the popular ski resort/waterpark Mountain Creek and Minerals Spa (Located just under 10 minutes away.) The quiet charm of Wawayanda State Park appeals to hikers, campers, swimmers and boaters. Forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda creating a restful backdrop for canoeists and fisherman, while steep mountains challenge casual as well as serious hikers. A twenty-mile stretch of Appalachian Trail runs through the park, while the top of Wawayanda Mountain offers sensational views. More than sixty miles of trails are marked in the park.
