Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. This was a great stop on my best friend reunion tour! We opted for a cabin and it was a cute, warm, clean and cozy little place. You don't have your own bathroom and have to walk to the common building for stalls and showers, but that was ok- it was clean and not too far away from the cabin. Be sure to peek in to the vintage "RV museum"- 3 restored RVs that are retro outfitted and fun to explore. The woman manning the check in/shop was super friendly and gave good recommendations for places in Cañon City, which is about 15 mins away. We were also pleased to be a short walk from the Gold Mine gem shop, full of beautiful things! In October the area is out of season, so it was pretty quiet, and we were happy with that! I would recommend Starlite for a welcoming glamping experience.

Sweetwater was such an incredible time! The cabin was perfect and setting was even better. My husband and pup spent two days here and wish we could have stayed longer!! Only critique was that it certainly wasn’t private. The neighboring cabins are super close, and several kids fishing just kept walking through our area and even using our front to fish. Not a big issue, but something to keep in mind if you’re looking for something private!

I stayed in Pioneer Cabin 1 and it was such an amazing stay. Great little piece of land surrounded by trees but still with great views of the river below. River was just a few steps down a small hill. Easy access to swim and relax in the river. Had two chairs, a fire pit, two charcoal grills and a picnic table. I was able to sling a hammock from two of the trees with a great view overlooking the river. The cabin was great. Very charming, comfortable, and clean. A plus to have a small refrigerator, a microwave, coffee maker and running water with a sink. I would absolutely return. It was a really wonderful getaway from the city. Thank you so much!!
