Your site is overlooking the Sangre de Christo mountain range. The land is Alpine desert with sagebrush and ground cactus and incredible star gazing. There are 2 great hiking trails within a couple miles. There are 3 hot springs within 30 minutes. The Great sand dunes national park is within 1hr. The San Luis valley offers, hiking, mountain biking, ATV trail, Horse back riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting, refuges for wildlife watching.
New for 2024, The flushable toilet and shower are now operational. The shower house is located in the center of the loop with sites 1,2,3 on the south side of the building. It has an on demand water heater, there is also a a flushable toilet located in the same space. An important note about the toilet, Do Not flush anything other than toilet paper please. DO NOT flush feminine hygiene products, napkins or hand wipes or anything other than toilet paper. These type of things plug and burn up the pump while pumping out the tank. This will cause the toilet to be unusable.
ATTENTION: THE SHOWER HOUSE AND TOILET WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN AND GETTING WINTERIZED OCTOBER 1ST UNTIL MAY 1ST.

Hi! We are a bright family in a small community, developing our 42 acres in Crestone, Colorado. Our property features a host of cottonwood trees, a seasonal creek, a creative outdoor bath house and a 1.5 acre mini farm in progress. There is a bell tent available with a king. There is one tent or vehicle camping location. There is no shore power for vans/rvs or wifi near the camp sites. The property is also home to abundant wildlife including a Great Horned Owl, Coyote packs, Elk, Deer, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Bobcats, Bats and Frogs, and the neighbors farm animals.
Crestone is a beautiful, remote, high desert wilderness surrounded by classic Colorado (almost) 14-ners with high alpine lakes, rivers, hot springs, rock climbing, mountain biking, and our property borders on the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Crestone is also known for its 30 diverse spiritual centers, incredible star gazing as a official dark sky community, alien sightings, and it's beautiful and unique housing community that focuses on building with reclaimed and natural building methods. Our home, like many of the homes here, is creatively made from recycled materials, using two train cars for the body of the house. The property also hosts a 1200 square foot Dojo, built by the previous owner, a Qi Gong master lineage carrier. We are completely off grid, using solar power, wood heat and some propane when needed. We aren't on sewer or septic, so this is an opportunity for the understanding of composting toilet and humanure systems.
Our goals on the property are to enhance our lives, and those in our community, with everything we do here. Our home and community provides an opportunity to learn about natural living and building methods, composting, the beauty and challenge of living off grid, and ample opportunities to be in nature. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like.
Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash.
Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies.
On holidays, however, expect it to be busy.
Our only dog, Boudicca, is a working dog and she is more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make her job easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Her name is Boudicca (BOO duh kuh) and she lost her two besties last year, so she needs extra love and treats!
Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dog. And please report any issues promptly.
Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm.

Over time, we have dreams of permaculture farming, eco building workshops, community collaboration, and the ability to host gatherings – however, we are committed to taking it all one step at a time and allowing only what is meant to be to unfold. For now it is simply our home, a maker space for art and experimental eco building, a gathering spot for friends and a quiet Hipcamp spot.

Smoking is permitted outside when not under a fire ban.
Hipcampers under 21 years old are welcome only under adult supervision.
We recommend bringing your own towels and a flashlight since our lodging has an out side toilet. Please don't expect a flush toilet, we want to emphasize that we offer a porta potty.

A very cleanly campground with beautiful views and great amenities. I was on a month long camping trip so staying at a cabin to rest and have some AC for a few days, while being able to recharger devices, was a great reset that I needed. Working on the porch, sitting in the swing was a bonus! Beautifully renovated restrooms/showers too, it felt quite luxurious compared to other places I’d showered during the month lol. Quiet place at night which is much appreciated, respectful people, and each of the different camping styles are offered to suit all needs.

1 night at Mountain Goat Lodge Glamping
Beautiful campsite! We loved waking up on the farm and seeing all the goats and chickens! We really enjoyed the charcuterie and the delicious breakfast basket. We feel so lucky to have stayed the night and we wish we could have stayed longer. Gina and D’Arcy are very attentive hosts!

Weekend Trip to The Nomad Ranch
We had a great night at the Nomad Ranch! Angela’s place is perfect - she was so communicative and helpful with our last minute booking. The cabin is in a great location and you can’t beat the views. Was super clean upon arrival and we so appreciated the cold water Angela left out for us. We also loved the huge open windows and saw so many stars! Would definitely stay again.

Our stay in the panoramic dome was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how beautiful, peaceful, and private the property was. The setting is absolutely stunning - surrounded by nature, quiet, and the perfect place to relax and disconnect but also with options to grill out and access to what the property has to offer - donkeys and pups and horse!
A special thank you to Nat, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and made us feel right at home.
The dome itself was comfortable, unique, and offered breathtaking views. Waking up to the scenery and enjoying the tranquility of the area was truly unforgettable. If you're looking for a private getaway where you can unwind and enjoy nature without distractions, this is the place.

Super fun! The decor was great and the hosts made sure everyone had an amazing time. Perfect for families, dog owners, and couples. It’s right about halfway between the Royal Gorge and town, so easy to glamp in style. I’ll come back and try another site for sure!

Asha’s Retreat was lovely! I was pleasantly surprised how clean it was. My 13yr old and I have terrible allergies - thankfully this home was not even dusty.
We were hesitant about the outhouse, but very surprised how clean and unsmelly it was. Truly!
Cute & quaint - my 2 school age kids, brother and I enjoyed the cabin and outside areas (especially the hammock). The hosts responded quickly to inquiries and were great!

Extremely nice accommodations on a well-kept campground! Paul & his wife are very hospitable and friendly.
We booked the Karma Camper and it was perfect with a very comfy queen bed + our husky loved the AC. ☺️
There are other campsites nearby but they’re well spaced apart - we didn’t hear a thing. We would definitely recommend!

The location was remote and directions made it easy to find. Serene, quiet, quiet, quiet. Outdoor sink/kitchen and picnic table were handy for clean up/bfast. Toilets were clean and shower set up cool but we didn't need to use. Tent was larger than expected, firm bed was cozy w fluffy blankets and string lights were soothing. The Starlite Vintage Campground & Resort was such a unique and fun experience! We stayed in the Firetruck Retro RV, and it was incredibly cool. Everything was spotless—from the campsite and concrete pad to the RV itself. The staff was some of the friendliest you’ll find this side of the Rocky Mountains, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind getaway, I highly recommend checking out Starlite. We can’t wait to come back!
