Our land is out away from all the noise and lights. You can see the milky way and the stars at night are amazing. then to have the view of the Sangre de Christo mountain range is amazing to enjoy. The surrounding valley has lots to offer from the quant little towns and coffee shops to the home style meals at the restaurants. and all the hot springs are amazing. Your site is overlooking the Sangre de Christo mountain range. The land is Alpine desert with sagebrush and ground cactus and incredible star gazing. There are 2 great hiking trails within a couple miles. There are 3 hot springs within 30 minutes. The Great sand dunes national park is within 1hr. The San Luis valley offers, hiking, mountain biking, ATV trail, Horse back riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting, refuges for wildlife watching.

Site 2 - Mountain Bird Alpine Desert

Good choice!

The site was great and the hosts were friendly. It's about an hour away from the dunes but honestly I more enjoyed the nearby bat cave and the amazing view of the stars at night. I would suggest bringing some fire starters or small kindling. Plenty of fire wood provided if you want to buy it, but not much small stuff to get a fire started.

Site 2 - Mountain Bird Alpine Desert

Paul was a great host. The directions were easy to follow and he met us at the gate. The 360 views were breathtaking! Paul provided us with ideas for our stay in the area and it was nice to chat with him for awhile once we arrived. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Peaceful space!!

What a wonderful spot. So much to do around this location, private, safe, quiet space. I felt so peaceful camping by myself here and look forward to coming back with the family. Highly recommend!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

We loved camping at Mountain Bird Alpine Desert! It is so peaceful and the views of the mountains are unmatched. We came here for our first camping trip after buying our travel trailer and the setup was perfect. Being new to owning a travel trailer, we have a lot to learn and Paul was more than willing to lend his insight and help answer any questions we had. He and Robin were amazing hosts!

Great experience tent camping on Paul’s land! Property was well kept, he gave very clear instructions for check-in, and even offered some recommendations and insights for trails and local sights. I would definitely recommend this site!
