Ramble welcomes you to our brand new campground -- Ramble at Great Sand Dunes National Park -- opening this May! Our team members are all long-time Hipcamp users, so we're excited about this partnership and have made a select group of our amazing sites available to book exclusively on Hipcamp. Our campground location is strikingly beautiful and vast: 320 acres of rolling sand dunes nestled up against the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at 7,550 feet. This campground is just a twenty minute drive to the entrance of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, where you can hike dunes up to 750 feet tall. It's also at the base of Colorado's fourth tallest mountain, 14,345-foot Blanca Peak. Ramble is a dog friendly campground so bring your furry friends. There is a pet leash hook for you to link up your dog at each site. The Welcome Center will be the first place you'll stop, which includes an interactive photo opportunity, our park map, and informative and interesting information about the local community and surrounding region. Just a short distance from every campsite is our bathhouse -- thoughtfully designed with private bathrooms, showers, and a pet rinse area. It also includes a QR-code-accessible mini store for easy purchases of firewood, toiletries and Ramble merchandise. Inside the bathrooms you’ll find flushing toilets, toilet paper, seat protectors, fold down changing tables, sinks, hand soap, hooks, mirrors, soft lighting, and locking doors. On the side of the bathhouse are our open air concept shower stalls complete with hot water, benches, towel hooks and complimentary body wash and shampoo. The dump station is located just past the bathhouse and can accommodate disposal of sewage, waste water and includes a spigot for easy clean up. This station is complementary to Ramble guests. All of our campsites are purposefully spread apart to give every group maximum privacy and spaciousness. Please refer to the campground map when making multi-site reservations and expect 100 to 250 feet walking distance between adjacent sites. As far as activities go, there’s plenty to do. Rent a bike or bring your own -- we’ve got our very own three mile gravel path for you to shred that provides direct access points to local bike and Bureau of Land Management trails. There is also a 40 acre, 9-hole disc golf course perfect for all levels onsite. Horseshoe pits, corn hole tables, board games, and other activities are also available. And if that’s not enough, attractions in San Luis Valley, Great Sand Dunes National Park, Medano Creek, Zapata Falls, and Hooper Pool are all just a short drive away. Ramble at Great Sand Dunes falls within the IDA International Dark Sky Park region, so be prepared to enjoy some ridiculously starry nights. If it gets too dark, our entire campground utilizes thoughtfully designed lighting that won’t detract from nature’s light show. So bring the dog, kids, family and friends -- or enjoy the awesomeness solo. Welcome to camping the way you've always wanted it to be.

Camping with views!!
We had the opportunity to camp at Ramble's Great Sand Dunes site prior to it being launched as early testers and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. A sink with running water?!?! What a dream come true. Not only did we have a sink but a double burner that made cooking and cleaning dishes a breeze. The amenities at the site were incredible! We had flat tent pads which made sleeping in a tent so much more comfortable. We even had a power outlet to charge our phones in our tents. I loved the Polywood chairs and picnic table. So much more comfortable than our folding chairs and not having to worry about them blowing away was an added bonus. Making smores over the fire with all the views was breathtaking. I highly recommend this campground for campers who want some of those upscale amenities without compromising the camping experience! I can't wait to camp with Ramble again.

Great family camping!
Was able to camp at this brand-new campground option in the San Luis Valley, near the Great Sand Dunes National Park, with incredible views of the Sangre de Cristo Range. The campground is on the valley bottom, but with enough topography to make it interesting and lots of space around each campsite to have privacy but maintain a sense of community. Gravel pads made for easy, level tent setup and the site amenities (Adirondack chairs, kitchenette with shelter, solar power at the site for electronics, fire ring, low-intensity lighting) meant that I didn't have to haul the full car camping kit with us. Also, plenty of room to stretch your legs and explore the property after a long drive. Central showers and toilets made the wife and kids super happy and the ability to wash our hands and do some dishes at the campsite limited the trips back and forth. There was even a self-serve "mercantile" for those forgotten items - being able to grab sunscreen at the campground saved us a trip to town. The stars at night were incredible! If you've got picky or reluctant campers in your crew, this campground is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all, without necessarily "roughing it"!

This is going to be upscale but traditional camping at its best- nothing basic about these sites.

Ramble Group Tent Site #14
Our family of four (two adults and two kids + our dog) were lucky enough to tent camp at the Ramble Test Site location as early testers back in late September 2022. The campsite is modeled after the Signature Plus category and it is massive: three spread out and level tent pads with tie down hooks and each had its own electrical outlet that we used for tent lights and iphone charging. The campsite was well equipped with everything you'd need for an awesome camping trip. It had its own outdoor kitchen with a foot pump powered sink, drinkable water, a really nice Camp Chef stove, a solar powered outlet for small devices (plugged up the bluetooth speaker), a large shade structure, a picnic table, a fancy Solo Stove fire pit, six comfy but well built chairs, horseshoe pits and cornhole. The campsite was pet friendly and even had a dog leash connection hook. We used a trailer bathroom at this location but the location down near the Great Sand Dunes National Park will have its own bath house with flushing toilets, sinks, hot showers and baby changing areas. It also will include a mini shop that is QR code accessible for easy purchases of firewood and toiletries. I would highly recommend this campground for those looking for a genuine and upscale camping experience!

Ramble Camping!
"The Ramble test campsite in Evergreen was full of unexpected surprises and delights and has me real excited to stay at Ramble's campground near Great Sand Dunes National Park. Located a short drive from Alamosa's small town main street, the campground is nestled in place and slowly meanders through native dunes and desert scrub. A real pleasant divergent from the typical campground landscape. This is an ideal campground for family car camping, not only for the seasoned campers, but those new to camping as well. The kitchen is outfitted with more than my family needs (2 burner stove, sink with water, storage cabinets and electricity), as well as the conveniences that we too often forget, such as soap and paper towels. I definitely appreciate the use of solar PV at the site to help minimize our impact. The Ramble campground also makes a conscious effort towards water conservation with automatic shut-off low flow fixtures and user controlled footpumps for the kitchen sink. The ample tent pads are convenient to the kitchen, yet far enough away for privacy and nestled into the scrub and dunes to be buffered from strong winds which can and do occur. With spectacular 360 degree views, I would definitely recommend this campsite for those looking for a great natural setting, full of family conveniences and close to world class landscapes!"

Incredible experience
I had the opportunity to stay at Ramble's test campground in Evergreen, Colorado where they have one of these campsites built and undergoing user testing. The experience was amazing and I am so excited to be able to stay in one of them just outside of Great Sand Dunes National Park when the campground opens in May! This is a car camping dream. It was very helpful to have a sink to wash hands and dishes right at the site, and the double burner Camp Chef stove made for easy cooking and delicious meals. The recycled plastic Polywood picnic table and chairs around the campfire were so much nicer than what I could have ever fit in my car. Tent pads were flat to make pitching easy and sleeping comfortable, and there was even power to charge my phone right at the tent pad. The Solo Stove campfire made lighting and maintaining a low-smoke fire super easy. The string lights and dim lighting made for great ambiance and was an amazing touch for an off-grid campsite. Overall the experience of having a campsite without anyone else around was like my favorite experiences camping in a national or state park campground, but without the crowds and the noise and with tons of amenities that I could never fit in my truck. I am so excited to stay in one of these sites this summer at the Great Sand Dunes location to be able to sleep under the stars and take in those amazing views!

OMG the views!!
As a beta tester for Ramble at Great Sand Dunes National Park and their Evergreen test site, I was able to enjoy the complete Ramble camping experience at both locations. They certainly are dialed in on their anti-parking lot style approach. Camping at Ramble at Great Sand Dunes NP, my initial reaction was how beautiful and vast the views are at the campground. You have a beautiful backdrop of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range and the Great Sand Dunes off in the distance. My campsite was nestled comfortably between rolling dunes which created a super private camping experience. I look forward to when Ramble officially opens so I can take advantage of the bike trail and lay back and enjoy the dark skies. Bonus--- this campground is under a dark sky reserve!! At the Evergreen Test Site, I was able to experience a Signature Plus campsite, which had an outdoor kitchen and comfy tent pads. Having a working sink and large counter space made it easy to prepare meals for my friends and elevated my outdoor cooking experience. I look forward to camping at Rambles in the future-- especially if I only need to bring my tent and food, it makes it that much easier to get out and go camping!
