Near Great Sand Dunes National Park
Within a 60-minute drive from the Entrance Station.
The Rabbit Hole Ranch offers beautiful unobstructed views of the majestic Blanca Massif and the Great Sand Dunes and is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive from both to include Zapata Falls. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is a must-see, and I am grateful for the opportunity to offer you a place nearby to set up camp and go exploring. Alamosa, the largest town in the SLV, is just 20 minutes away. With a population of around 9,800 Alamosa has that small town feel and has the goods and services you will need. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our two Great Pyrenees are here to help keep you and your pets (and our chickens) safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with all four of our dogs. This year we have a new Great Pyrenees to greet you, his name is TheoVon and he is huge! Returning this season is KayLee also a GP and and Finn, who is a little Benji lookin rescue from Alaska who just LOVES everybody. And then we have our latest addition, Kya, Shes a rescue as well and spent way too much time in an apartment before coming to stay with us, This will be her first season with us and she is 1 1/2 years old. A more energetic dog than what were used to around here but so far so good! Hopefully you happy campers can help us socialize the new dogs! Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm. Note: Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be less quiet and far more busy. We do not strictly enforce quiet time during holidays.Beautiful unobstructed views of Blanca Massif and the Great Sand Dunes. Only a 35 minute drive from both to include Zapata Falls.  Very low light pollution makes RHR a primo spot for star gazing and night photography. Fishing is 15 minutes north at San Luis Lakes or the Rio Grande. Alamosa is 25 minutes away and has a population of around 10,000, and has the goods and services you will need. Camping here is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Typically you will feel a solitude and silence that feels other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies behind spectacular and unusual cloud formations. Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be more busy. Our two Great Pyrenees are big floofy guardians who keep our chickens (and campers) safe from predators Please be careful leaving food or trash in tents as a family of foxes has been hanging around (so cute). Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our gentle giants. Quiet time begins at 10pm.

Rabbit Hole Sand Dunes
Jen was very friendly, communicative and accommodating. Her doggies are truly special and made our stay very memorable. Them alone is a reason to come back, which I definitely plan on doing. I liked the location, half way between sand dunes and Alamosa, which for our needs was perfect. Wind is no joke and something I assume one encounters on a regular. Make sure to have really strong pegs and heavy duty hammer. Soil is very hard. Spectacular sunrise and sunsets. Magical place.

Rabbit Hole Sand Dunes
We loved camping on Jen’s land. We felt away from everything and everyone, but were able to drive to the surrounding sites easily in about 30 minutes or less to the dunes and Zapata falls. We loved our daily visit from her 3 dogs who just laid around our camp for a few minutes saying hello and then went on their way. Excellent star gazing at night when the sky is clear. We have never seen so many stars while camping! Stunning view of the sunrise over the Sangres and very peaceful. Jen was very quick to get back to me when I messaged and very helpful. Loved it!
