Hi! We are a bright family in a small community, developing our 42 acres in Crestone, Colorado. Our property features a host of cottonwood trees, a seasonal creek, a creative outdoor bath house and a 1.5 acre mini farm in progress. There is a bell tent available with a king. There is one tent or vehicle camping location. There is no shore power for vans/rvs or wifi near the camp sites. The property is also home to abundant wildlife including a Great Horned Owl, Coyote packs, Elk, Deer, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Bobcats, Bats and Frogs, and the neighbors farm animals.
Crestone is a beautiful, remote, high desert wilderness surrounded by classic Colorado (almost) 14-ners with high alpine lakes, rivers, hot springs, rock climbing, mountain biking, and our property borders on the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Crestone is also known for its 30 diverse spiritual centers, incredible star gazing as a official dark sky community, alien sightings, and it's beautiful and unique housing community that focuses on building with reclaimed and natural building methods. Our home, like many of the homes here, is creatively made from recycled materials, using two train cars for the body of the house. The property also hosts a 1200 square foot Dojo, built by the previous owner, a Qi Gong master lineage carrier. We are completely off grid, using solar power, wood heat and some propane when needed. We aren't on sewer or septic, so this is an opportunity for the understanding of composting toilet and humanure systems.
Our goals on the property are to enhance our lives, and those in our community, with everything we do here. Our home and community provides an opportunity to learn about natural living and building methods, composting, the beauty and challenge of living off grid, and ample opportunities to be in nature. We host seasonal events that have roots in our ancient humanity. It is an opportunity to experience the deep quiet of the community of nature, while still having modern cleanliness and coziness.

The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Located along the West Elk Loop, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway, the large two-story residence features a steeply pitched hipped roof with prominent attic dormers.As a guest of Riverwalk you will have full access to the river during your stay. In addition, there is the Riverwalk Trail System that skirts the North Fork of the Gunnison River from the top of the property, by the Riverwalk Yurt, (available on this site) meandering downstream past the Riverwalk TIPI (available on the site) passing the Grove Yurt (available on this site) and terminating at the bottom of the property with the sandy Riverwalk Beach. There is a trial that zigs through the Cottonwood Grove and zags back along the gentle Monitor Ditch skirting a newly planted grove of young trees.For RV Campers we provide 2- 30amp,1-50 amp and 1- 110-amp electrical services and potable water. There is a dump station available. There is also access to our heated shower house with running water and bathroom amenities (<3 min. walk, may be shared with other guests). The property is perfectly geared to groups of friends gathering in a central location between the onset of the Rockies and the termination high desert to the west. Friends or family will reserve both Yurts and the RV Site for a perfect reunion setting!

San Luis Valley is a region in south-central Colorado with a small portion overlapping into New Mexico. The valley is approximately 122 miles long and 74 miles wide, making it the largest alpine valley in the world. It extends from the Continental Divide on the northwest rim into New Mexico on the south.
This campground sits close to the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. I encourage binoculars or even a telescope to view wildlife and check out the Rockies and then the night sky views!
Looking to submerse yourself in nature? The Sangre de Cristo Range in Colorado contains the following 14ers: Blanca Peak, Challenger Point, Crestone Needle, Crestone Peak, Culebra Peak, Ellingwood Point, Humboldt Peak, Kit Carson Peak, Mount Lindsey, and Little Bear Peak.

History: this land was originally part of a large cattle ranch in the 1980s. The main ranch is still up and running but this parcel was used for many purposes over the years.
In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing!
My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all!
You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Be sure to bring extra bug spray and protection needed against biting insects such as flies, gnats, and mosquitoes.
For those bringing your pets, they MUST be on a leash/lead at all times. While I do not have much cactus on my property, I do have an abundance of greasewood (Chico brush) which is very thorn-like if stepped on.
Accommodations for those with livestock or horses, just make sure you chat in advance your initial message.
Close to BLM, and National Forest as well as 3 hot springs within 20 miles and the Great Sand Dunes.
We are still under construction and making changes often so bear with us while we continue to add and change things for the better!

The Rabbit Hole Ranch offers beautiful night skies with little to no light pollution and unobstructed views of the majestic Blanca Massif. The Great Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive.
Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like.
Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash.
Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies.
On holidays, however, expect it to be busy.
Our only dog, Boudicca, is a working dog and she is more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make her job easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Her name is Boudicca (BOO duh kuh) and she lost her two besties last year, so she needs extra love and treats!
Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dog. And please report any issues promptly.
Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm.
Note: Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be less quiet and far more busy. We typically do not strictly enforce quiet time during holidays.

One of the valleys last original stone homes dating back to 1845. We have been restoring the buildings made from the stone. The main house which is not yet finished has beautiful etched glass windows of the cattle drives.
James Hinds the homesteader and original owner of the ranch created the ware and hinds ditch which supplies our abundant Valley water. He was a prominent attorney and got our water rights given to us forever from President Harrison.
Currently, the ranch is running on an open range policy. Livestock is not fenced in, so please be cautious and understand that you are camping at your own risk. Please do not feed the animals (even though they are friendly they can get rambunctious) and keep all dogs on leash at ALL times.
It includes water that extends to the middle of the Colorado River and the one mile of our shoreline. Everyday that we live here we give thanks for his wisdom and foresight. Base Camp Family Campground is owned and operated by the Baker Family. Josh Baker first lived in Southern Colorado in the early 90's as a child, but his family moved away after a short time. His desire to move back here as an adult prompted him to start bringing his own family to Colorado for vacations. They purchased land in the valley in 2014 and moved to Colorado in 2020. You'll be camping in the shadows of 14,000 ft. mountain peaks, in the largest high-desert alpine valley in the world, that is sprinkled with free-flowing artesian wells, hot springs and wet lands. Daily summer temperatures average 65 degrees, and it will get down into the 50's at night. That's perfect camping weather!
For native American tribes, including the Utes, Apache, Navajos, and others, this valley is considered the source of life, a place where humans and spirit enter and leave this world. The valley was considered so sacred, that no war would be waged here.

As if all of the mountains, deserts, hot springs, and sacred ground weren't enough, The San Luis Valley is also known as a UFO hot spot! UFO sightings have been reported as far back as the 1600's.

Our RV Park in South Fork CO has space for 18 R.V.’s. Each site has full hookups with the majority being 50amp service and are oversized so that they can handle any big rig! There is a shower house and laundry facility available for our guests (seasonal). There is more than ample parking and each site is easy to access.
Our sites are back off the highway for a more relaxing atmosphere and the view is amazing. We have a community fire pit of which we can roast hot dogs, marshmallows for s’mores and tell all the stories you would like. “What goes on at the Fire Pit stays at the Fire Pit.”

South Fork Colorado has all the family fun and challenging terrain you could ever look for. 1000’s of miles of trails to hike and bike. The Rio Grande River offers world class fly fishing. There are plenty of lakes and creeks to enjoy also.
Wolf Creek Ski Area is just up the road from South Fork, Colorado for all your winter fun downhill skiing and snowboarding. Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing are fun low cost family activities with plenty of terrain to enjoy.
Great Sand Dunes National Park is open all year long and is a day trip from South Fork. Enjoy the Sand Dunes National Park, learn how they were formed, hike a dune and try sand boarding. Zapata Falls is a short hike near the Sand Dunes.
South Fork Colorado has several other waterfalls nearby to visit, Treasure Falls and South & North Clear Creek falls.
You will want to come back year after year to explore all we have to offer.

I made so many friends here and there was so much to do! I made friends with a cow, 2 horses, the neighbor and of course Melinda! She let me run, run, run all through the pasture! I found several little water sources and really enjoyed getting all wet and muddy. It was so much fun..I didn’t want to leave!

What a wonderful homestead. The views were incredible on open fields of grass with beautiful horses I could share my carrots with. It was in a nice private area with a little “stream” (I’m from AZ so any running water is considered a stream and retention ponds are definitely lakes lol). Melinda was very hospitable and even offered up her mud room during a storm, but being from AZ we preferred to rough it.
If you’re a solo female traveler with a pet and want to camp I strongly recommend Melinda’s campsite. You’ll be the only one out there, but you will also not feel completely alone as she will periodically check on you and make you feel safe.
I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and am actually currently trying to figure out how I can get back before winter hits to see the aspen change and let Zola do some more running around.

George and Devin are amazing people and great hosts. As far as the facilities, the electric and water work perfectly. They have a dump station for the sewer. There is a place for grilling, and they have a newly built shower house, which is amazing. It's in a beautiful spot, which is secluded for privacy. It's close to several hiking, rafting, and sight-seeing areas. There are two small cities nearby with grocery stores and restaurants. Overall, this is a great place to camp for RVs, tents, and yurts. You'll love it. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Colorado River Camp Has It All!
We absolutely would recommend this location especially for anyone with kids! Joyce was very communicative and welcoming during our stay. The 4 camp sites are very well kept and absolutely breathtaking! Plenty of trees, right next to the Colorado River and my kids loved being able to pet the farm animals. We will most definitely be returning and have found our new favorite camp spot :)

Nestled between the Sangre de Cristos, the Rockies, and the Great Sand Dunes, High Peaks Campground was an ideal spot for solitude, a little remote work, and preparation for some days spent in the surrounding mountains. The Host was communicative and all advertised services were superb.

We loved staying at this little slice of heaven! The road to get there was kind of crazy, but the directions were great! It was so nice to just be in nature be disconnected from the world for a couple days! We were bummed that the hot tub/soaking pool wasn’t working, but that just means we will have to come back!!

1 night at Mountain Goat Lodge Glamping
Beautiful campsite! We loved waking up on the farm and seeing all the goats and chickens! We really enjoyed the charcuterie and the delicious breakfast basket. We feel so lucky to have stayed the night and we wish we could have stayed longer. Gina and D’Arcy are very attentive hosts!

Last Resort on the River was fantastic!! We accidentally brought a plug in cooler to iur tent site and they were kind enough to allow us to plug it in at the office where we could always access it. The owners were so friendly and fun, they showed a movie on our second night there (that we chose!)
The bathrooms were very clean and cozy with books and games available, the pavilion was clean and used often, and the land and river was well taken care of and gorgeous. We slept so peacefully at the Sunshine tent site with the river warbling next to us all night.
They were very accommodating with our goofy big dog as well.
We would definitely recommend and would love to come again!

Great Animas valley view and easy to find. Site is near places to hike and buy groceries if needed. Wild and domestic animals (herd of elk in the distance and neighbors calves next door) were fun to watch-there is plenty of shade if it’s sunny and a running irrigation ditch for dogs to have fresh water. Road noise was not a problem for us but may bother some people who want a quiet site. Nice host.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Lazy Rooster Ranch! Jaq was kind enough to move our reservation to a more secluded site that happened to be open, and while our original site looked great we really enjoyed site 3. We weren’t sure when booking what amenities would be available but there was a bench/table and 2 propane fire pits, and a built in covered shelf. The porta potty was a short walk and was the cleanest I’ve ever used, it even had a motion sensor light that worked at night. Water and parking were close by so set up and breakdown were easy. The star of the show was the access to the Delores River just a few steps down from our camp, we were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the water. We explored the property along the river and were impressed with the other campsites we saw. Overall it was a great stay and we would be happy to return!

Absolutely beautiful property with a stunning view of the red cliffs. Bunch of room to pitch our tent. 15 minutes from town which was great as we wanted more of a scenic place to stay. The host was very welcoming as well as the greater - both of them gave a tons of places worth checking out while we stayed in Durango. Would love to come back!

This was a great location to set-up camp! Melinda was an excellent host and quick to respond to questions. The views here are wonderful and we were really happy to stay here four nights. Great access to the Durango area without the crowds of a larger campground. Be sure to read all the information on amenities as it was a little more primitive than we expected but everything was clearly laid out in the listing and we made the most of it nonetheless. I will be coming back here for sure!
