There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please).
IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.
We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day.

I am going to be in early this year because of the lack of snow. I am going in March 22nd. I have taken the block off of the Gers and the camp sites.
8 campsites and 2 original Mongolian Gers.
The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to end of Sept and the Gers for 2025/2026 winter are blocked out from Nov 15/25 to May 15/26.
Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. Now up until this year I have provided Free Firewood. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now.
I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like them running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake.. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no pain in the butts.
Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice?
No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. If you need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ.
What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”.
Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen.
I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven.
Then there is the silence.

Our 75 acres is a wonderful, diverse mix of habitat, harmoniously integrated with our small farm. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock.
The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you!
Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. You are also free to use our outdoor solar shower or take a dip in the cold pond or artesian spring fed pool.
Our location is convenient to the Berkshire Mountains, state parks, hiking and other attractions, including Ramble Wild tree to tree adventures and Jiminy Peak. There are a few miles of rail trail access just down the road.

Tucked among spruce, fir, and birch on Sunshine Island in Deer Isle–Stonington, Four Acre Woods began more than 60 years ago as a small, family-run campground known as Sunshine Campground. Travelers from across the world visited this quiet island forest, drawn to its raw beauty and the peaceful energy that generations before us had loved and cared for.
The campground eventually closed in the 1990s and sat untouched for over 15 years—its trails, clearings, and old campsites slowly reclaimed by the woods. The land waited, quietly, for someone to bring it back to life.
In the years that followed, Caleb, a longtime local operator on the island, took interest in the property. Recognizing both its history and its potential to offer people a deeper experience of Deer Isle’s natural beauty, he began the process of carefully restoring and reopening the land.
Working season by season, Caleb rebuilt the sites, added new infrastructure, re-established utilities, and designed a campground that honors the land’s roots while offering a comfortable, modern, and nature-forward experience for today’s guests.
In July 2020, the property reopened under a new name: Four Acre Woods.
Today, it blends the spirit of the original Sunshine Campground with thoughtful stewardship, simple comforts, and a deep respect for the forest that surrounds it. Visitors once again gather under the birches and spruces—sharing campfires, slow mornings, quiet nights, and the timeless island calm that makes this land so special.

And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. We're close to the beach and the Sunset Bay Golf Course is on the same property.
Lots of hiking trails and you can connect with Sunset Bay State Park our neighbor.
We have a private, secluded campground that is wind sheltered with approximately 20 acres of space in which to use our covered table, picnic tables, fire pit, fire rings at individual campsites, BBQ, sauna and outdoor propane-fired shower.
The camp area is tucked away among large spruce trees and open meadows which lead to endless trails on the property, with the option to buy a round of golf at Sunset Bay Golf Course, which is right next door to the camp area.
We’re just short of a mile from Sunset Bay, where you will find kayaking, fishing and a great spot for kids.
The Whiskey Run mountain bike trails are a short drive away and are truly world-class trails. The Sunset Bay State Park has a huge trail network that spans the cliff line all the way from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago.
Chuck’s Seafood in Charleston is a great spot to pick up local seafood.
BBQ some oysters on the grill or pick up some fresh fish and enjoy the bounty of the coast.
Charleston, just 3.5 miles away, also has some great restaurants and local shops to truly make your stay memorable.

The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging.
The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019, we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen.
A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail.
Zigzag Mountain Farm offers the perfect escape from the city.

The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Located along the West Elk Loop, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway, the large two-story residence features a steeply pitched hipped roof with prominent attic dormers.As a guest of Riverwalk you will have full access to the river during your stay. In addition, there is the Riverwalk Trail System that skirts the North Fork of the Gunnison River from the top of the property, by the Riverwalk Yurt, (available on this site) meandering downstream past the Riverwalk TIPI (available on the site) passing the Grove Yurt (available on this site) and terminating at the bottom of the property with the sandy Riverwalk Beach. There is a trial that zigs through the Cottonwood Grove and zags back along the gentle Monitor Ditch skirting a newly planted grove of young trees.For RV Campers we provide 2- 30amp,1-50 amp and 1- 110-amp electrical services and potable water. There is a dump station available. There is also access to our heated shower house with running water and bathroom amenities (<3 min. walk, may be shared with other guests). The property is perfectly geared to groups of friends gathering in a central location between the onset of the Rockies and the termination high desert to the west. Friends or family will reserve both Yurts and the RV Site for a perfect reunion setting!

It was lovely to stay in the yurt. We were two adults, a teenager and a toddler and it was comfortable to have three beds to comfortably accommodate all (and also have a heater for cold nights). Lovely flat walks around the campground and into the forest. The host and care taker were friendly. Very convenient to have the well equipped kitchen with stove, oven, toaster oven, etc. when with children. Only 25 minutes away from convenient stores (like Trader Joe), yet camping in nature.

Grant and Becky were fabulous hosts! Even with a rainy weekend our group had an amazing time! The pictures don’t do the waterfall justice and it’s just a quick 5 minute walk from the Outdoor Kitchen/Yurtle Campground. I HIGHLY recommend booking this particular site on the property even if you’re traveling with a small crew. We had 7 campers total and really enjoyed the perks of not having to pack any cooking utensils or gear. We just popped our food in the fridge/freezer and it was perfect! Especially for trips when the weather isn’t ideal you don’t have to worry about relying on a fire for your heat source. Grant and Becky were so kind and accommodating and we are already planning our next trip! A wonderful experience all around!

Our little get away was perfect. The yurt was clean, comfortable and stocked with fire wood. The bathhouse was clean, stocked and kept warm with a heater. The property caretaker stopped by and was friendly and asked if we were needing anything and enjoying our stay. We will definitely be back!

I loved staying in the Oahu bell tent at Sun Farm. This was my second time staying there, and it was even better the second time. It’s peaceful and feels safe and comfortable. The farm cats and dog are sweet and friendly, and the people working there kind and helpful. I will definitely be back!

Everything was beyond my expectations during our stay. You find all sorts of treasures while out exploring the land around Windy Goat Acres and it's absolutely beautiful! When sending out photos to friends one of them commented, "I wouldn't be surprised if a unicorn strolled by next!" Jessica is very welcoming (as are the animals) and an amazing person that makes you feel comfortable and at home. I haven't been able to stop talking about our trip since we left and am looking forward to our next adventure back! The only downside was having to leave.

Weekend Trip to Dunlap Canyon Retreat
The camp was great. My yurk was clean with a bed that was more comfortable than most hotels I stay at. Plenty of room to park and hang out in my camp site. Fun watching the hang gliders and paragliders do their thing with a great view of the mountains right from my camp site. Bathrooms and showers. I’ll definitely be back!

With kids
I stayed on the farm with the 12 and 6 years old kids to have different more nature-based experiences. It was our first stay on the campground, and we loved it. It was close to the city, easy to find. Its very safe place where we could leave our belongings and go for a day. The kitchen was available to us wherever we needed during working hours. It was quite and peaceful, but be ready for roosters (however they didn't disturb us), they bring a charm to the farm along with two lovely goats-pets. They let them feed goats what children enjoyed to do. The water in shower was warm even at night time, it was a pleasure to take a shower and looking at bananas above the head. The farm is well taken care of, and living among banana and coconut trees gave us a feeling of being in subtropical woods. We will definetely come back. Thank you, Marcos, for your dedication and desire to work on the land and bring awareness to the tourists! So sorry not to meet and talk to you in person!

We had a great time camping at Sewanee Creek. The kitchen camp was awesome especially when it rained. Wish we could have seen the waterfall but there’s been a drought. The outdoor shower is refreshing! The little surprises like hiking to the fairy house was fun. All in all, we had a great time and would come again.

Amazing stay at Living circle farms. The yurt was beautiful (just like the pictures), super clean and the bed was so comfortable.
We could open the screened windows for a fresh breeze. The bathrooms were very close and nothing beats an outdoor shower under banana leaves.
Kristian, the manager, was welcoming and gave a run through the beautiful proprety.
We loved picking our own papayas every morning. Very tasty!
