We love animals, plants, art, and outdoor recreation and love sharing these things with people! We found the perfect little plot for all of these things we love. Nature, art, animals, and lots of space! The hilly, lush land is also known as the Bohemie Alps and it's quite a beautiful area tucked away in Iowa. Visit with the llamas, goats, peacocks, potbelly pigs and the horses and hike around the property or stay in for a quiet stay with a good book and enjoy all the sights and sounds. Lots of extra 'add ons' to enhance the experience! Semi wooded property with hiking trails, hammocks, aerial silks, campfire pit. 5 mi away is Otter Creek Lake, a recreational park for fishing, kayaking, swimming, etc. We have 2 kayaks available. So much to do! Also perfect to just relax, meditate, yoga, sleep...

TreePods for the Adventurous
POD fun
Rented the pods for one night while staying at the yurt so the teens had a fun place to hang out. They really enjoyed the stay and found them very relaxing. One of the kids spent time drawing in the treehouse while the horses hangout right next to them. Currently the pods have no door that you can close it so they are open to the elements. But the owner mentioned looking into making some kind of door. They also mentioned many ppl will bring a tent to sleep in and then just hangout in the pods during the day.

Loved it
Would absolutely stay here again. It is really beautiful here. There is a bunk bed with a king on the bottom and a queen on top, the loveseat folds out but we didn’t use that. We brought a lot of our own camping cooking equipment but it wasn’t needed. The host has 2 hot plates, electric griddle, and a microwave. They also have pots and pans but we used our cast iron pan or kettle for most cooking. There is very limited space for cooking so if you have a portable table I would definitely bring it as there is no place to store the dry food you bring, there is a small fridge for cold stuff. Would definitely love to see the host add a pie cabinet for extra storage. A word of advice for others, if you have limited mobility the other yurt is more conveniently located for transport of your essentials and to get to the potties. Also there is way less mud by the other yurt. Bring boots! Also bring an extra mat or towel to store your boots inside as the door mat is very tiny.

Retreat Cabin on the Goat Farm
Incredible host and property!!!
Incredible property with so many animals. Our 2 year old had a great time visiting with all of the animals and feeding the horses apples. The cabin was very comfortable and cozy and we really enjoyed the area while we were there. Would go out of our way to stay here again as the hosts were incredibly accommodating and made it such a fun experience for the whole family.

Even in mid January this place was a beautiful oasis. It was a joy hanging out with the farm animals, the horses were amazingly friendly. The yurt itself is beautiful and comfy inside. The lights and record player made for a fun night. Highly recommended!

Retreat Cabin on the Goat Farm
You can tell that their farm is a passion project these wonderful hosts share. The amenities they offer expand upon the place’s carefully crafted magic. The animals are more than happy and are well cared for. Altogether, my girlfriend and I had an unforgettable experience and want to come back during the summer some time, perhaps when the bathhouse is completed (exciting!).

Peaceful retreat & amazing animals!
We had a great time at Windy Goat Acres! Jessica and Jim are wonderful, and were very responsive and helpful in all our requests. Jim even came down in the night on NYE to help us city folk keep our camp fire going!! The waffles were super yummy. The yurt is very cozy and warm, even in the cold Iowa winters. Unique structure, spacious and thoughtfully laid out with lots of little touches that gave light, Woodland vibes. We love that their place is dog friendly, and our dogs had the best time exploring the trails around the property. We met the llamas, goats and horses - so cool that all the beautiful animals on the farm are very well socialized and super friendly, what a treat! Would recommend, and we will be coming back in the summer :)

Yurt Glamping on the Goat Farm
Warm Despite Freezing Temps
My girlfriend's and I planned our getaway right before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. It also happened to be one of the coldest weekends with snowfall and high winds. We stayed toasty warm in the yurt. The only downfall was having to walk to the porta potties or "warm bathroom" at the house. If we came again in the cold, I'd bring our camping toilet. The property is gorgeous and we explored a bit despite the cold temps. We all fell in love with Banana. We unanimously agreed we should come back with our families and let the kids explore the property.

Amazing experience!!
We had our daughters 21rst birthday at the farm and rented both the yurts. Her friends and our family all loved it! It was amazing. The only thing I will say is, bring warm clothes if you will be there in the winter. Jessica was quick to respond to all questions. We are already planning a trip back when it’s warmer and we don’t even live far away! It was just that much fun. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time exploring the property, meeting the animals, and enjoying the breathtaking sunrise each morning. Jess and Jim were fantastic hosts - always responsive but not in your space (even though we were in theirs!)! The Yurt was also very clean, as was the shower and WC!

Wonderful Weekend Experience
Jessica and Jim are fabulous hosts. The goats, horses, llamas, pot belly pigs, peacock, chickens and cats were all great to be around. Was fun when the goats were let out towards evening and walked around the property. So peaceful and what a beautiful night to star gaze. Outdoor shower was the best. A little chilly out but what an experience!!! Nothing better than being in the country!!! We will be back! LuAnn and Laura

Cozy yurt and friendly animals
What a fun stay! We were here with our kids and friends, and we all had a wonderful time. The yurt is very clean and comfortable, and the property has lots of friendly animals (horses, goats, llamas, ducks, chickens) to hang out with. The hosts were friendly and accessible, but still made it feel like we had the place to ourselves. There are other sites nearby (another yurt, a few cabins in progress, hanging tents), but it was not a problem. Overall, a great stay and a wonderful way to spend a weekend with friends!

TreePods for the Adventurous
Is this Heaven? Yes Windy Goat Acre
This little gem in Central Iowa is AWE-MAZING! I was greeted by the owner, Jim, and he took me to my tree house/pods for my stay. I would highly recommend bringing a warm sleeping bag or multiple blankets if you plan to sleep in the tree house/pods. There is no electricity, very primitive. Camp stove, headlamp recommended. There is a small walk to the bathroom/outdoor shower. On your way to the facilities, there is a pergola lit with tivoli lights, a firepit and festival hula hoops. I went on a small hike with owner, Jessica, and their 2 llamas, Penny and Scarlet at sunset and it was such a treat. They let the goats, horses, pigs and ponies out to graze and this morning I got to meet the resident peacock. The friendliest white cats kept me company during my stay. The coyotes cackled/howled during the night while our ancestors (stars) watched over us from above. I'm hoping to schedule a yoga retreat here in the Spring. Such a great place for a music festival or spiritual retreat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Whimsical and Enchanting!
The farm was so whimsical and enchanting. The weather was perfect for staying in the tree pods! A sleeping bag sufficed to keep me warm for temps that were in the 50s overnight. The clear night sky was amazing for stargazing. The tree pods were just steps away from a fire pit and pizza oven. We didn’t get to use the oven but will remember the next time we go there to use it! The bathroom was close as well and wasn’t scary to walk to in the middle of the night with a flashlight (I’m a scaredy cat 😉). The site was far enough from others to make it feel private. The animals were all so cute and friendly! If you come here, go explore! There are little pockets of whimsical set ups to read a book, meditate, or even picnic! What a little gem to have so close to us! We will definitely be back!!

Magical night under the stars
If you are really trying to get outdoors and connect with nature, staying in these tree pods sleeping under the stars is the best way to do this. Being able to feel the breeze and night and hearing the nighttime sounds, and getting to see the sunrise from your tree pods is magical. Can’t forget natures alarm clock, the rooster! This place is simply magical. Friendly animals and beautiful scenery offers the ideal place to disconnect and reset. Also outdoor showers are the best!!

The Magic in the Moment
My son made a reservation earlier in the day, “on a goat farm, Da”, and me thoughts were that Charlie the canine will love the smells, and we have over 400 miles to drive. So. We arrived at dusk. We were tired, ready to eat and retire to bed, and yet, the setting, nestled in, with the big barn , generated a sense of comfort within me that extended outward, peaceful, natural, harmonious, and this feeling has grown so much that overnight, this place has redefined Home for me. Welcoming! Familiar!
