We had a great time camping at Greenhouse Camping! While there is a house on the property lived in by renters (not the owner of the Hipcamp site), they were clearly used to having people in the site and while they seemed friendly, they also just stayed away from the site. The main road is close, but not super busy so that noise didn't bother us at all. There is a housing development going in to the south as you can see from Robin's pictures, so there may be construction noise during the week, but since we were there on the weekend/Labor Day the rigs were parked, so it wasn't noisy at all. The walking path was nice and the view of the sunset was wonderful each night! Robin was very nice and super helpful the night we arrived. The kids loved the smores kit and made sure to enjoy it the first fire we made :) . We went swimming at Saylorville Lake just 15 minutes away and it had a great beach. We also went hiking and exploring at Ledges State Park about 30 minutes away, which we would highly recommend to anyone in the area! We would definitely recommend this location!!

Very quiet and peaceful. Rural setting but close to Des Moines and sights to see.
Has everything we needed.

Must stay for any passerby campers!
Beautiful setup with all the amenities any passerby campers need plus many more convenient goodies. Just off I35 and super easy to get to and park.

Robin’s property is lovely with huge shade trees, just as pictured. We arrived near dark and were only spending the night so we didn’t see more of the property. The sight was clean and welcoming, a string of party lights to one side. For those with trailers, the sight is a bit unlevel side to side. We were in a 30’ travel trailer. Both 30amp and water hookups. Directions were good. Robin was most helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed a nice quiet restful sleep under a beautiful moon.

We stayed at the Greenhouse in our 36 ft RV. It is a beautiful peaceful area! Great sunset view and nice mowed walking paths through the property. This was our first Hip Camp and I would highly recommend the Greenhouse!!

Great camping spot!
Great spot and not far from the highway which was nice for us since we were driving by. Very private and the owners had water, games, lights and smores for us which really made us feel so welcome. Highly recommended

It is a lovely quiet retreat. Set up well even has s’mores for you! Perfect spot for an overnight. Our first time using HipCamp and it was a success!

Great Base Camp
This is a solo site which is exactly what we wanted for the busy 4th of July weekend. Water and electric is convenient. The property is large and has lots of trees for shade and a nice fire pit area. If you set your chairs facing west, you will watch the sunset over the farm while bunnies, deer, and birds go by. We could see city fireworks in the distance but the fireflies in the grass were the best show. The property is on the edge of encroaching suburbia and close to a road and I-35. Moderate noise for full disclosure which did not bother us. It was a great base camp for biking the High Trestle Trail and exploring the Des Moines area.

Lucky to find Greenhouse Campground
We were very lucky to find Greenhouse Campground on Father’s Day Weekend. We enjoyed our stay with our camper and two small dogs. Host was very friendly and accommodating. Not sure that we want our secret to get out as to how convenient it was to camp at Greenhouse Campground.

Peace and Quiet
We really enjoyed camping on Robin’s land. Having the only campsite ensured our privacy. Robin included nice extras of bottled water and everything needed for making s’mores❣️

Really nice, pretty quiet and no one bothered me. Plenty of chairs/benches and a picnic table. The electricity hookup is a bit far from the parking area so make sure you have a long cord. Great location for exploring the local state parks!

Pretty location with easy pull in spot and hookup. Nice area to walk my dog too. A perfect stop to break up my trip from MN to MO originating in MT. Hosts were very welcoming;-)

We arrived late and began parking in the wrong spot. The host was quickly out on an ATV to direct us to the correct location. We enjoyed seeing a deer family and a gorgeous sunset. Nice level site with water and electric hookup and festive party lights on. There was a little freeway noise, but it died down quickly. Everything was as expected. Wish we'd had more time to enjoy a fire and s'mores. (Too windy when we were there.)

Wonderful and fabulous. The firewood and some more kids are a wonderful touch. As are the outdoor lights and the fire pit would highly recommend this place

Nice, easy stay.
We had a lovely short stay. There was firewood and a firepit all ready for us. We had to get moving right away, so didn't explore the area, but it looked like it would have been a nice spot to wander around a bit.

Exceptional spot; lovely hosts
We absolutely LOVED our camping experience. The setting is simply beautiful, yet just a few short minutes off the freeway and close to Huxley, Ankeny, Polk City and Ames. We camped in an RV and the spot was a flat, level gravel pad surrounded by a lovely grassy lawn and mature trees adorned with lights that sparkled through the leaves in the evenings. (Lights were on a timer, so they turned off at 10 and did not interfere with sleeping.) Walking paths are available through the property down to the creek area. The hosts have thought of every little thing to make the stay special--a large gravel patio area with seating and fire pit, a picnic table with an umbrella that was easy to open and close and a greenhouse shelter with a small refrigerator stocked with cold waters, s'more fixings and marshmallow roasting utensil:) Everything we could have possibly needed was provided there--trash bags, information on local events, etc. We were attending a collegiate waterski tournament nearby, and when the event ran long on Sunday, we were graciously told we could check out whenever it worked for us that day. If we traveled to Iowa frequently, we wouldn't want to share this little piece of paradise as we would selfishly want to keep it to ourselves!! We couldn't have loved it more; we just wished we could have spent more time enjoying our camping spot because it was so beautiful and convenient. Just off the freeway, yet a world away. Thanks so much for hosting such a special spot. (Tent campers would love the large lawn area too.)

Amazing place with electric for hot summer nights. They guided us to the site at night and super easy to pull in.

Great little getaway that is very close to town yet has a nice country setting. Perfect spot to spend quality time with your group and not worry about other campers.

A unique camping experience
We loved this camping spot. There’s just one RV camp spot, so no crowds. The setting is lovely, next to a farmhouse where Robin and Judy live. Judy’s father farmed the land, planted the trees, built the buildings, and generally worked hard. The green house is a cute gardening shed we ended up using to store our lawn chairs and a few other things when it rained. The property is not far from Saylorville Lake, and the High Trestle Trail. And not far from Walmart and other shopping. We had a very unique camping experience. Loved it.

Loved our stay! It was perfect and cozy and everything my boyfriend and I wanted for the night. Will probably be back soon :)
